해양범죄예방을 위한 언론보도의 개선방안 (Improvement of the Media Coverage for Marine Crime Prevention)

  • The media is an effective means of preventing crime. It can be known to members of the media presiding over the most widely and rapidly. Because of this, the mass media is a good way to prevent such crime. Related to general crime, marine crime will have unique characteristics and about Crimes reported by the media, it is also true. The results of this study are as follows. Firstly, it is required that the more accurate present article must be published and reported. Secondly, for more accurate presentation of measure, there is a need to enhance professional training for reporters. Thirdly, the marine weather report is the most important political purpose of considering marine crime prevention. Forthly, marine crime is likely to be a lack of evidence. Therefore, in order to supplement the lack of evidence maritime security agency should be utilized for a news source.qualification Fifthly, the need for regular inspection of the articles is requested. Sixthly, for judicial control maintenance of the media related laws should be strengthened. Finally, the arbitration institution for media rights should be established under the Korea Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transport. This is practical action for marine crime prevention.

광양항의 항로설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Proposal of the Ship's Routing on Gwangyang Harbor)

  • 광양항은 부산항과 더불어 우리나라 컨테이너 화물 처리 Two Port System의 한축으로 개발 중인 동북아 중심항만(Hub Port)으로서 향후 2011년까지 총 33개의 컨테이너 선적 등이 개발 추진 중에 있어 해상교통량이 급격히 증가하고 있으며, 또한 거대선$\cdot$위험화물운반선$\cdot$고속여객선의 통항이 빈번하여 대형사고의 발생우려가 상존하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 광양항을 이용하는 선박의 입출항 항로 등에 대한 해상교통환경을 면밀히 분석$\cdot$평가하고, 통항로 및 항행보조시설 등의 적정성 검토를 통하여 미래 지향적이고 안전한 해상교통환경을 조성하기 위한 체계적이고 종합적인 항로를 설정한다.

First record of a marine microalgal species, Jaagichlorella roystonensis (Trebouxiophyceae) isolated from Jungmun Saekdal Beach, Jeju Island, Korea

  • A eukaryotic marine microalga was isolated from Jungmun Saekdal Beach, Jeju Island, Korea and an integrated approach, including molecular phylogeny and morphology, was used to determine its taxonomical status. Molecular phylogenetic evidence inferred from the small subunit (SSU) 18S rRNA sequence and internal transcribed spacer (ITS) secondary structure analysis clearly showed that the isolate belonged to the recently described species, Jaagichlorella roystonensis. Distinctive morphological keys of the species were also observed by light microscopy and scanning/transmission electron microscopy(S/TEM). In this study, a Korean marine J. roystonensis species was described for the first time and was subsequently added to the national culture collections in Korea.

해양바이오 분야 정부 R&D 지원사업의 동향과 함의 (Trends in the Korean Government Support for Marine Biotechnology R&D Investment and Its Implication)

  • This study seeks to analyze trends in Korean government support for marine biotechnology R&D investment. The quantitative analysis proposed in this paper provides useful data to inform government policy making decisions in relation to R&D investment in the marine biotechnology. Data used in this study is from NTIS (National Science & Technology Information Service) DB. Empirical results indicate that national R&D investment in the area of marine biotechnology has recently been increased in terms of the number of R&D programs and the amount of R&D investment. The results also show that the R&D programs in the area of marine biotechnology involve various Ministries of the government of Korea, although the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) performed a key role in the R&D investment in the marine biotechnology. Finally, the results of social network analysis in this study reveals that most of the R&D programs in the area of marine biotechnology seeks the development of new materials using unique features of marine bioresources.

선박해체에 의한 해양오염방지 규제순응도에 관한 연구 (Study on the Regulatory Compliance relating to the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Ship Scrap)

  • In the present paper, the regulatory compliance on the report responsibility relating to marine pollution prevention working plan for ship recycling in accordance with the Marine Environment Management Law in Korea was examined. In addition, plans to raise the regulatory compliance based on the results of the regulatory compliance questionnaire survey and interview between the concerned parties were suggested. The result of the regulatory compliance revealed that the degree of regulatory compliance of all groups is 52.7%, the government official group is 56.5%, marine industry related group is 48.6% and ship recycling group is 48.6%. Counterplans to raise the regulatory compliance, such as public relations for the ship recycling and marine industry related group and the development of simple standardized report form were suggested based on the results of the regulatory compliance survey.

순천 상내리 갯골에 출현하는 농어(Lateolabrax japonicus) 치어의 식성 (Feeding habits of juvenile sea perch, Lateolabrax japonicus in tidal creek at Sangnae-ri Suncheon, Korea)

  • During the study periods, total 143 individuals of Lateolabrax japonicus were collected. Body length (BL) range was 2.0-11.8 cm. Empty stomach occurred in 8.4%. The most abundant prey was copepods. Among copepods, Tigriopus japonicus was the most abundant prey appeared 32.1 in %F. Next important prey was shrimps and mysids. The results of analysis in ontogenetic changes, main prey of two small size classes (2.0-3.9 cm, 4.0-5.9 cm) were copepods. Thereafter, copepods percentage was decreased, but shrimps, mysids, fishes percentage was increased by increasing body length from 8.0 cm< size class.

  • 해양과 인간의 상호 관계에 대한 이해로 정의되는 해양적 소양은 지구의 지속가능성에 매우 중요한 요소이다. 따라서 해양적 소양은 북미와 유럽의 해양교육에 새로운 패러다임으로 자리매김 하고 있다. 이러한 움직임을 반영하여 한국의 해양교육은 그 정체성을 확인하고 방향성을 설정하기 위한 논의가 매우 중요하다. 본 연구는 북미와 한국의 해양교육을 학교기반과 사회기반 해양교육으로 나누어 현황을 살펴본 뒤, 한국해양교육의 정체성과 관련하여 한국해양교육의 정의와 목적을 제시한다. 또한 한국 해양교육의 방향에 대해 다섯 가지 과제를 담고 있다.

Bioactive Marine Natural Products in Drug Development

  • Nature is one of the most important sources of pharmacologically active compounds in the search for drugs against life threatening diseases. Even though plants and terrestrial microorganisms have played as an important source for the new drug candidates from nature, marine organisms such as tunicates, sponges, soft corals, sea horses, sea snakes, marine mollusks, seaweeds, nudibranches, sea slugs and marine microorganisms are increasingly attracting attention in recent years. Marine organisms also have the potential to develop into future drugs against important diseases, such as cancer, a range of bacterial and viral diseases, malaria, and inflammations. Even though the mechanism of action in the molecular level of most metabolites is still unclear, the mechanisms by which they interfere with the pathogenesis of a wide range of diseases have been reported. The knowledge of this is one of the key factors necessary to develop bioactive compounds into medicines. This is due to their structurally unique and pharmacologically active compounds. The potential pharmaceutical, medicinal and research applications of some of these compounds are discussed in hundreds of scientific papers, and are reviewed here.

수산.해운 전문계열 교사의 직무수행 영역에 관한 연구 (A Study on Duty Performance area of Fisheries & Shipping Business High School Teachers)

  • This study referred to relevant literatures, collected professional advice, created the sphere of duty with considering the characteristics of marine products-marine transportation education and teachers' specialty, and researched the feasibility of duty sphere classified from 2nd of September in 2008 to 20th of October in 2008 by selecting 80 professional teachers at random teachers who were working in 4 schools that had local 1. As the result of this study, it is proper to classify the sphere of marine products-marine transportation professional teachers into teaching-learning sphere, actual training guidance sphere, life guidance sphere, class management sphere, administrative performance sphere, specialty extension sphere, academic-industrial cooperation and community connection sphere. 2. For the contents of each sphere of marine products-marine transportation teachers' duty, it is proper to systematize teaching-learning field with 32 contents of duty, actual training guidance field with 21 contents of duty, life guidance sphere with 18 contents of duty, class management sphere with 12 contents of duty, administrative performance sphere with 18 contents of duty, specialty extension sphere with 15 contents of duty, academic-industrial cooperation and community connection sphere with 9 contents of duty respectively.

선박승무원들의 해양원격의료 지원 제도에 대한 인식도 (The Perception Level of Seafarers for the Marine Telemedicine Assistance System)

  • This research intended to analyse the perception level of seafarers in order to propose enhancement of health management for seafarers and improvement of marine telemedicine assistance system. To this end, questionnaire survey was conducted for 422 seafarers in relation to current status of utilizing Emergency Medical Advice by radio(EMAR). By trading area, experience of benefiting EMAR by coastal seafarers was higher than that of ocean-going seafarers. By kinds of ships the rate of utilizing EMAR by fisherman was higher than that of seafarers of merchant ships. The level of satisfaction on the EMAR was 14.9% and regarded to be very low while the answering rate of necessity and urgency toward introducing marine telemedicine assistance system for the future through utilizing telemedicine equipment what is called U-helath including motion pictures information was very high. The answering rate of willingness to provide their personal health information positively when introducing marine telemedicine system was very high(97.4%). It is thus necessary to permit marine telemedicine service system, establish service model of marine telemedicine through conducting demonstration projects, promote marine telemedicine actively at the level of government, etc.
