작물재배기술의 경제적 타당성 분석 : 방글라데시 피르간즈군과 쿠리그람군 사례 (The Economic Feasibility Analysis of Crop Cultivation Practice Project in Pirganj and Kurigram Districts, Bangladesh)

  • 미국 농무성은 방글라데시의 Pirganj군과 Kurigram군에 작물재배기술을 보급하여 농민들의 소득을 향상시키고 작물의 수량을 제고하여 농민들의 식량을 자급 할 수 있도록 하기 위하여 2008년부터 2012년까지 4개년간 기술지원기금US$ 571,270을 제공할 계획이다. 이 사업의 주목적은 948ha, 임야개간 52ha 및 유휴지 345ha를 개발하고 농업생산기술을 지도 보급함으로써 농산물의 생산성을 제고시키고 가난한 1,059농가와 5,305명의 농촌농민들의 사회 경제적 생활조건을 개선시키는 것이다. 이 사업을 위하여 방글라데시의 미작연구소, 방글라데시 농업연구위원회, Rangpur Dinajpur 농촌 서비스 센터 및 농민단체들이 참여 하고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 (1) 미곡, 밀, 옥수수, 엽연초 및 사탕수수의 생산성을 구명하고, (2) 작물 별 생산비와 소득을 추정하며, (3) 투입 산출물간의 상호관계를 구명하여 (3) 본 사업의 총 수익과 총 사업비를 비교함으로써 본 사업의 재무적 타당성 지표인 FIRR,NPV,B/C Ratio를 구명해 보고자 한다. 본 사업의 연간 순기대총편익은 US$ 33,028이다. 농산물 생산액의 총 증가액은 US$ 219,959이며 총 생산비증가액은 US$186,931로 추정되었다. 본 사업의 재무수익률은 경제분석기간을 15년으로 가정했을 경우 재무수익률(FIRR)이 26.15%로 추정되었으며, 이는 방글라데시의 할인율 10%보다 2.6배가 높게 나타났다. 방글라데시의 할인율을 10%로 볼 경우 B/C Ratio는 1.077이며 NPV는 US$ 101,663로 추정되었다. 따라서 본 사업은 방글라데시의 농촌경제를 활성화 시키고 가난한 농민들의 복지를 증대시키는데 있어 매우 중요한 농업정책으로써, 방글라데시의 타 지역에도 확대 보급함은 물론 재정적 지원을 지속해 나가야 할 것으로 판단된다.

항생제 대체제로서 첨가제가 육성 및 비육돈의 성장능력과 사료비에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Feed Additive as an Alternative for Antibiotics on Growth Performance and Feed Cost in Growing-finishing Pigs)

  • 본 시험은 육성돈과 비육돈에서 항생제 대체를 위하여 두 가지 첨가제의 가축의 생산성과 사료비를 평가하였다. 본 시험에 사용된 첨가제는 두과식물인 호로파(Trigonella foenum graecum) 추출물(HE)과 aminolevulinic acid(ALA)를 사용하였다. 시험 1은 자돈 128두를 4처리 4반복으로 돈방 당 8두씩 28일간 사양시험을 하였다. 항생제 첨가구(PC)의 일당증체량은 580.6g으로 532.2g의 ALA처리구보다 많이 증체하였다(p<0.05). 한편 일일 사료섭취량과 사료효율은 처리간에 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 자돈의 두당 사료비는 첨가제 처리구인 HE 및 ALA 처리구 모두 항생제 처리구(PC)보다 적었으나, 1.0kg 증체당 사료비는 HE 처리구가 항생제(PC) 처리구보다 높았다. 시험 2는 육성 비육돈 80두를 4처리 4반복으로 돈방당 5두씩 70일간 사양시험을 하였다. 육성 비육돈의 1일 사료섭취량은 HE 처리구가 2,425.8g으로 다른 처리구보다 많이 섭취하였다(p<0.05). 한편 육성 비육돈의 일당증체량과 사료효율은 처리간 유의적인 차이가 없었다. HE 처리구는 두당 사료비와 1.0kg 당 사료비 모두 항생제 처리구보다 많았으나 ALA 처리구는 1.0kg 당 사료비가 항생제 처리구와 같았다. 이상의 시험결과를 종합해 볼 때 항생제를 대체를 위한 첨가제는 가축생산성이 항생제 처리구보다 떨어지지 않았으며, 특히 aminolevulinic acid는 사료비에서도 항생제와 차이가 없어 경쟁력이 있었다.

지역균형발전의 의미와 정책 (Balanced Growth among Regional Economies : Its Implications and Polices)

  • 본 연구는 지난 십 여년간 우리 사회에서 중요한 주제로 대두되었던 지역균형발전과 관련하여 그 의미 및 필요성과 방법에 대하여 논의하였다. 이전의 연구와 달리 본 연구는 현재의 경제구조의 특징이 지역균형발전에 대하여 의미하는 바를 분석하였다. 최근의 경제구조는 과거의 산업사회와 달리 정보사회, 지식기반경제, 디지털 경제 등으로 정의되고 있으며, 지식 및 아이디어, 인적자본 등의 역할이 중요하다는 특징을 갖고 있다. 본 고는 그러한 새로운 경제구조에서 지역균형발전의 개념은 이전의 산업사회와 어떠한 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 지역균형발전 조건에 필요한 물적 자본의 효율적 배분을 유지하기 위해서는 동시에 지역별 인적자본의 효율적 배분이 필요함을 지적하였다. 또한 지역의 불균형 발전이 발생시키는 사회적 비용을 추정하기 위하여, 지역들이 균형적으로 발전하는 경우에 비하여 불균형적으로 발전하는 경우에 경제성장률이 감소하게 되는 점을 의태모형실험을 통하여 보였다.

Livestock Production under Coconut Plantations in Sri Lanka: 1. Social, Cultural and Economic Aspects of Buffalo Production

  • The relevance and importance of buffalo production under coconut plantations in the North Westen Province of Sri Lanka was studied in three districts (Bingiriya, Pannala, Kuliyapitiya). The objective of the study was to collect baseline information on socioeconomic and cultural aspects of buffalo production, with a view to promote and disseminate new technologies. The survey technique used consisted of a formal survey using a structured questionnaire (71 households) and rapid appraisal (55 households). The results indicate the existence of a wide stratification of dariy farmers which ranged from skilled dairy operators with high levels of production and management of efficiency to marginal subsistence farmers with low levels of productivity. The most frequent family size of households ranged from 4-5 members (58%), and the average family size was 4.7. The actual average land ownership accounts to 2.4 ha of upland and 0.5 ha of lowland, but when their accessibility to common property resources are taken into account, the land availability was assessed at 13 ha and 0.7 ha of upland and lowland, respectively. The highest average monthly income (Rs. 13,590) was received by farmers with off-farm employment (primary) who are also engaged in livestock production (secondary), and livestock contributed 43% of the total income. Livestock farmers who practised integrated crop farming as a secondary source of income received a monthly income of Rs. 10,843, and those involved in crop production as the primary source received the lowest average income (Rs. 7,295). The survey revealed a high investment cost on concentrate feeds (47%) for milk production. However some farmers obtained higher milk yields (11 litres/cow/day) at lower ration costs, and this could be attributed to the entrepreneurship skills and management efficiency. The study area had a well developed market infrastructure for fresh milk, principally due to the existence of the Nestle's company and the Coconut Triangle Milk Union. On an average the producer collected Rs. 10 per litre of milk marketed.

Unconfined compressive strength and freeze-thaw resistance of sand modified with sludge ash and polypropylene fiber

  • In recent years, the amount of sludge ash (SA) has considerably increased due to rapid urbanization and population growth. In addition, its storage in landfills induces environmental pollution and health problems. Therefore, its disposal in an environmentally friendly way has become more important. The main goal of this study is to investigate the reusability of sludge ash as an additive with polypropylene fiber (PF) to stabilize marginal sand based on the compressive strength performances from UCS tests. For this purpose, a series of UCS tests was conducted. Throughout the experimental study, the used inclusion rates were 10, 15, 20 and 30% for sludge ash and 0, 0.5 and 1% for polypropylene fiber by total dry weight of the sand+sludge ash mixture and the prepared samples were cured for 7 and 14 days prior to the testing. Freezing and thawing resistance of the mixture including 10% sludge ash and 0, 0.5 and 1% polypropylene fiber was also examined. On the basis of UCS testing results, it is said that sludge ash inclusion remarkably enhances UCS performance of sand. Moreover, the addition of polypropylene fiber to the admixtures including sand and sludge ash significantly improves their stress-strain characteristics and post-peak strength loss as well as UCS. As a result of this paper, it is suggested that sludge ash be successfully reused with polypropylene fiber for stabilizing sand in soil stabilization applications. It is also believed that the findings of this study will contribute to some environmental concerns such as the disposal problem of sludge ash, recycling, sustainability, environmental pollution, etc. as well as the cost of an engineering project.

구치부 단일 임플란트의 생존율에 대한 후향적 연구 (A Retrospective Clinical Study of Survival Rate for a Single Implant in Posterior Teeth)

  • Purpose: Single implants, of which screw loosening has been observed frequently, presents problems such as fixtures fractures, marginal bone loss, and inflammation of the soft tissue around the implant. However, the single implant is more conservative, cost effective, and predictable compared to the 3 unit bridge with respect to the long-term outcome. This study evaluated the survival rate as well as future methods aimed at increasing the survival rate in single implants in posterior teeth. Methods: Among the implants placed in the Dankook University Dental Hospital department of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery from January 2001 to June 2008, 599 implants placed in the maxillar and mandibular posterior were evaluated retrospectively. Survival rates were investigated according to implant location, cause of tooth loss, gender, age, general disease, fixture diameter and length, surface texture, implant type and shape, presence of bone graft, surgery stage, surgeons, bone quality and opposite teeth. Results: Out of 599 single implants in posterior teeth, 580 implants survived and the survival rate was 96.8%. The difference in survival rate was statistically significant according to the implant location. The survival rate was low (84.2%) in implants exhibiting a wide diameter (${\geq}5.1mm$) and the surface treated by the acid etching group demonstrated a significantly lower survival rate (91.1%). One stage surgical procedure, which implemented a relatively better bone quality survival rate (100%), was higher than the two stage surgical procedure (96.1%). The survival rate of type IV bone quality (75%) was significantly lower than the other bone quality. Conclusion: Single posterior teeth implant treatments should use an improved surface finishing fixture as well as careful and safe procedures when performing implant surgery in the maxilla premolar and molar regions since bone quality is poor.

The Establishment of Security Strategies for Introducing Cloud Computing

  • Cloud computing has become one of the most important technologies for reducing cost and increasing productivity by efficiently using IT resources in various companies. The cloud computing system has mainly been built for private enterprise, but public institutions, such as governments and national institutes, also plans to introduce the system in Korea. Various researches have pointed to security problems as a critical factor to impede the vitalization of cloud computing services, but they only focus on the security threats and their correspondents for addressing the problems. There are no studies that analyze major security issues with regard to introducing the cloud computing system. Accordingly, it is necessary to research the security factors in the cloud computing given to public institutions when adopting cloud computing. This research focuses on the priority of security solutions for the stepwise adoption of cloud computing services in enterprise environments. The cloud computing security area is classified into managerial, physical and technical area in the research, and then derives the detailed factors in each security area. The research derives the influence of security priorities in each area on the importance of security issues according to the identification of workers in private enterprise and public institutions. Ordered probit models are used to analyze the influences and marginal effects of awareness for security importance in each area on the scale of security priority. The results show workers in public institutions regard the technical security as the highest importance, while physical and managerial security are considered as the critical security factors in private enterprise. In addition, the results show workers in public institutions and private enterprise have remarkable differences of awareness for cloud computing security. This research compared the difference in recognition for the security priority in three areas between workers in private enterprise, which use cloud computing services, and workers in public institutions that have never used the services. It contributes to the establishment of strategies, with respect to security, by providing guidelines to enterprise or institutions that want to introduce cloud computing systems.

  • With the great advances in process understanding, sensor and instrumentation technology and modelling capability it is important to ask what if any practical benefits can the lake manager and operator look forward to. Here, we examine some of the more important problems facing operators of drinking reservoirs, hydro-lakes and lakes used predominantly for recreation and the environment. In drinking reservoirs the main problems originate from increased loadings of nutrients leading to increased biomass and biomass that may give rise to toxins, of anthropogenic chemicals such as metals and synthetic organics and of pathogens of different types. Hydro-lakes are predominantly plagued by problems arising from low oxygen levels in the hypolimnion and in recreational and environmentally sensitive lakes the biggest challenge for the operator is to maintain an existing or establish a new trophic hierarchy or protect the water body from foreign species. The control variables that are at an operator's disposal are the choice of lake water level, the modification of the water colunm stratification via a de-stratification system, the modification of the lake flow path with flow intervention. curtains, intervention in the catchments to modify the loadings flowing into a lake, manipulation of the trophic chain with introduction of new species and chemical dosing, the latter being of marginal use in a large lake. Each of these options is cost effective under certain-circumstances. We endeavour to provide a users guide for their application and show how, especially new instrumentation and modelling methodologies may be used to achieve an effective intervention.

플로팅 엘엔지 복합 화물창 시스템 연구 (Research of Combined Containment System for Floating LNG)

  • 플로팅 엘엔지선박은 해상에서 LNG 생산 및 천연 가스 공급을 담당하는 새로운 개념으로 부유식 생산설비는 과도한 투자 비용으로 인해 개발 지연중인 한계 가스전에 활력을 주고 있으며, 부유식 공급설비는 육상 LNG 인수기지 인프라가 미비한 지역에 에너지를 경제적이며 효과적으로 공급할 수 있다는 장점을 제공하고 있다. LNG 화물창은 플로팅 엘엔지선박에서 생산 또는 적재된 LNG를 보관하는 주요기능 중 하나이다. 본 연구를 통해 기존 화물창 시스템들의 장점을 결합한 복합 화물창 시스템을 화물창 시스템의 설계 개선방안으로 제안하였고 플로팅 엘엔지선박에의 적용 타당성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다.

소유구조, 규제 및 시장구조가 가격에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 미국의 전력산업과 천연가스산업을 중심으로 (The Effects of Ownership, Regulation and Marked Structure on the Pricing: Evidence from the U.S. Electricity and Natural Gas Industries)

  • 본 논문은 미국의 전력산업과 천연가스산업이 본격적인 구조변화를 시작한 1999년부터 2001년까지의 자료를 사용하여 제도적인 변화가 시장가격에 미친 영향을 분석한다. 이를 위해 가격에 영향을 미치는 비용과 수요를 제어한 축약형태(reduced forms) 모형의 회귀분석을 사용하여, 본 논문은 제도적인 요소 중에서 구체적으로 어떠한 요소가 가격결정과 긴밀히 연결되어 있는지를 추정한다. 분석결과에 의하면 투자자 소유의 기업의 전력가격이 공기업에 비해서 보다 높은 것으로 추정되었다. 더불어 전기와 천연가스 2개의 상품을 공급하는 기업은 1개의 재화를 제공하는 기업에 비해서 두 재화를 보다 저렴한 가격으로 공급하는 규모의 경제를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 천연가스 기업간의 합병은 합병이 일어나지 않은 지역에 비해서 가스요금의 수준이 보다 높은 것으로 나타났다.
