압축피로하중에 의한 반려암, 사암 및 대리암에서의 미세균열 발달 (Microcrack Developement in Gabbro, Sandstone and Marble due to Fatigue Stress)

  • Microcrack development in the macheon gabbro, the Sangju sandstone and the Jungsun marble due to fatigue stresses was investigated using differential strain analysis and microscopic observations from fluorescent-dyed thin sections. In the Macheon gabbro, various types of cracks, including gran boundary cracks, cleavage cracks, intragranular cracks adn intergranular cracks were developed. However, only grain boundary cracks were produced in the Sangju sandstone and the Jungsun marble due to fatigue stress. Many microcracks were produced due to fatigue stresses in the macheon gabbro. However, few microcracks were produced in the Sangju sandstone and the Jungsun marble. Fatigue stresses produced new microcracks in the Junngsun marble and the Macheon gabbro, but only pre-existing grain boundary cracks were lengthened in the Sangju snadstone. Most microcracks were produced within a few tens of numbers of cyclic loading, indicating that rocks under fatigue stresses will be damaged at the early stage of cyclic loading.

Performance of polymer concrete incorporating waste marble and alfa fibers

  • In this study a polymer concrete, made up of natural aggregates and an orthophthalic polyester binder, reinforced with natural Alfa fibers has been studied. The results of flexural testing of unreinforced polymer concrete with different rates of charges (marble) showed that the concrete with 20% of marble is stronger and more rigid compared to other grades. Hence, a rate of 20% of marble powder is selected as the optimal value in the development of polymer concrete reinforced Alfa fibers. The fracture results of reinforced polymer concrete with 1 and 2 wt% of chopped untreated or treated Alfa fibers showed that treated Alfa (5% NaOH) fiber reinforced polymer concrete has higher fracture properties than other composites. We believe that this type of concrete provides a very promising alternative for the building industry seeking to achieve the objectives of sustainable development.

  • The paper study on the mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete with waste marble powder. A change in the replacement ratio s of waste marble powder was measured compressive strength and slump flow, U-Box. As a results, Slump flow and U-box using waste marble powder tend to increase slump flow and compacting with replacement ratio. As the concrete with a replacement ratio of copper slag up to 10% was found to have a compressive strength superior to that of plain.

  • Faced with the growing needs of material resources and requirements of environmental protection for achieving sustainable development, it has become necessary to study and investigate all possibilities of exploring crushed and dune sand, reusing industrial wastes and by-product, and also applying new technologies including sand concrete which can replace the conventional concretes in certain structures to surmount the deficit on construction materials, conserve natural resources, lessen the burden of pollutants to protect the environment and reduce the consumption of energy sources. This experimental study is a part of development and valorization of local materials project in Skikda region (East of Algeria). It aims at studying the effects of partial replacement of sand with marble waste as fines on several fresh and hardened properties of sand concrete in order to reuse these wastes in the concrete manufacturing, resolve the environmental problems caused by them and find another source of construction materials. To achieve these objectives, an experimental program has been carried out; it was consisted to incorporate different percentages of marble waste fines (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12%) in the formulations of sand concrete and study the development of several mechanical and rheological properties. We are also trying to find the optimal percentage of marble waste fine replaced in sand concrete that makes the strength of the concrete maximum. Obtained results showed that marble waste fines improve the properties of sand concrete and can be used as an additive material in sand concrete formulation.

  • During the past years, the protection of the environment has become a major concern out passing the state frontiers to reach a planetary dimension. Depository waste sites have become a serious problem in terms of their locations and costs. On the other hand, the construction industry has a leading place in terms of quantities of waste produced from the start to the end of each construction site, by the large amounts of raw materials used and their respective consequences on the environment. The recycling of quarry wastes products, of demolished concrete, bricks and large quantities of waste resulting from the transformation of marble blocks can provide ideal solutions and advantages for the preservation of the environment, to become a supplementary source of aggregates. The main purpose of this study is to show technically the possibility of recuperating the aggregates of marble wastes as a partial substitute or total in the mortars. The aggregates used in this study is a sand of marble wastes (excess loads of sand exposed to bad weather conditions) of the quarry derived from Fil-fila marble (Skikda, east of Algeria). To achieve this work, we have studied the effect of sand substitution of marble wastes in the mortar with rates of (25, 50, 75, 100%); comparing the results obtained with reference samples (0%), the properties when the samples are fresh, and the mechanical performances of mortars at solid state (loss and gain of weight, dimensional variations). The introduction of recycled sand in the mortars gives good results and can be used as granulates.

탄산염질 암석으로 구성된 석조문화재의 산성비에 의한 손상 연구 (Study on Deterioration of Stone Monuments Constructed with Carbonate Rock by Acid Rain)

  • 탄산염질 암석으로 건조된 석조문화재의 산성비에 따른 손상을 예측하기 위하여 백운암질 대리암 시편에 pH 4.0, pH 5.6 및 pH 6.85 인공강우와 인공풍화시험을 적용하였다. 모든 산성도의 강우는 대리암과 반응 후 중성부근으로 변화하였다. 대리암과 반응한 후 모든 산성도의 강우에서 $Ca^{2+}$$Mg^{2+}$의 함량이 두 배 이상 증가하였으며 탈이온수에서의 이온함량도 산성수에서와 유사하다. pH 4.0 강우와 반응한 대리암 시편의 무게가 시험 매회 $0.00037kg/m^2$ 감소할 것으로 예측되며, 이는 한계산성비 pH 5.6에 비해 약 1.4배, 중성강우에 비해 약 3.1배, 그리고 인공풍화시험만 거친 시편에 비해서는 3.7배 큰 값이다. 일축압축강도는 pH 4.0 강우에서 시험 매회 $0.2468kg/m^2$가 감소되며 강우에 접하지 않았을 때보다 2배 크다. pH 5.6과 pH 6.85 강우에서는 강도감소율이 각각 0.1791, $0.1280kg/m^2$로 도출되어 강우의 산성도가 강할수록 대리암의 강도는 약화됨이 예측되었다. 강우에 의해 대리암으로부터 이탈된 광물은 백운석과 소량의 방해석이다.

Combination Algorithm of a Material for Marble Solid Effects

  • Nowaday, market size of digital image in world around is looks to rapidly growth. For this, Texture mapping has traditionally been used to add realism to computer graphics images. Therefore to make our image realistic, we need to give the various kind of objects material parameter and environment lighting. To present the completed marble we use passing back algorithm and combination with channel of a material. In experimental result of this paper that application by passing back algorithm and varying the parameter such as scale, period, distortion, octaves of noise make showing the superiority of optimized rendering of spheres and perfect another marble effects.

Investigation of engineering properties of clayey soil experimentally with the inclusion of marble and granite waste

  • Granite and marble are widely produced and utilized in the construction industry, resulting in significant waste production. It is essential to manage this waste appropriately and repurpose it in recycling processes to ensure sustainability. The utilization of waste materials such as marble and granite waste (MGW) has become increasingly important in geotechnical engineering to improve the physical and mechanical properties of weak soils. This study investigated the applicability of utilizing MGW and cement (C)-MGW mixtures to improve clayey soil. A series of model plate loading tests were carried out in a specialized circular test tank to assess the influence of MGW and C-MGW mixing ratios on clayey soil samples. The samples were prepared by blending MGW and C-MGW in predetermined proportions. It is found that the bearing capacity of clay soil increased by approximately 71% when using MGW and C additives. Moreover, the consolidated settlement values of the clay soil decreased up to 6 times compared to the additive-free case.

전분을 이용한 폐인조대리석의 재활용 기술에 관한 연구 (Study on Recycling Technology of Waste Artificial Marble using Starch)

  • 일반적으로 열분해가 폐인조대리석을 재활용하기 위해 적용되어 왔다. 그러나 기존의 열처리 장치는 폐인조대리석 내부로의 비교적 낮은 열전달 효율을 갖는다. 첨가하여 이 장치는 폴리메틸 메타크릴레이트(polymethyl methacrylate; PMMA)의 부분적 탄화 과정에서 불필요한 가스를 과도하게 생성하고 극히 고온에서의 가열로 인해 인화 위험성이 높다. 본 연구는 위의 문제점을 극복 하고자 폐인조대리석에 전분 용액을 첨가한 후 성형 상태에서의 열처리 공정을 제시한다. 실험 결과, 이 방법은 폐인조대리석의 열분해가 비교적 $350^{\circ}C$의 낮은 온도에서도 상당히 향상 되었음을 보였다. 이외에도 메틸메타 크릴레이트(methyl methacrylate; MMA) 및 ${\alpha}$-알루미나(${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$) 회수에 필요한 안전성 확보 및 에너지를 절감하는 효과를 보였다.

대리석 문화재에 대한 산성비의 영향 (Effect of Acid Rain on Marble Cultural Properties)

  • 산성비가 대리석 문화재에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 1996년 1월부터 1996년 12월까지 원각사지 10층 석탑과 암질이 유사한 대리석 시편을 제작하여서 탑골공원과 광화문에서 옥외노출하여 직접 산성비를 맞게 한 경우와 광화문의 석탑보호시설내 산성비를 맞지 않는 경우를 비교하여서 부식감량을 조사하였다. 탑골공원과 광화문의 시편은 부식감량이 비슷하게 나타났으며, 또 비를 맞지 않는 실내에서 보다 7.7배 정도로 높게 나타났다. 또한 대리석 용해에 영향을 주는 산성비 특성을 연구하기 위하여 1~8 mm 강우에 대하여 이온성분 및 칼슘이온의 변화를 조사한 결과 1 mm 강우에 40% 이상 이온성분 농도, 특히 음이온 농도가 높았으며 칼슘 이온은 초기 1 mm 강우시 약 30% 이상 용출되었다. 이 결과는 초기 강우시에는 $SO_2$, $NO_2$등이 빗물에 녹아서 질산 이온, 황산 이온의 형태로 존재하게 되어 음이온 농도가 높게 된 것으로 판단된다. 대리석, 사암, 석회암으로 된 문화재나 미술품은 산성비 영향을 받을 수 있는 것으로 예상되어 향후 구체적 조사를 통하여 현장여건에 알맞는 문화재 보존대책 수립이 필요하다.
