  • The purpose of this paper is to explain the process of developing and validating the instrument to measure the university's organizational core values and sub-values known as ESI iDART. The three core values are excellence, synergy, and integrity, while the five sub-values comprise knowledge, discipline, trustworthiness, diligence, and responsibility that all staff should understand and practice. These values must be measured to examine the extent to which the staff has practiced them in their work life. With regard to methodology, the research instrument used in the study was developed using a focus group study involving 39 university staff from various departments and campuses. The instrument was later refined and validated by a group of experts from the university. In the main study, the instrument was distributed to all 17,969 university staff from all over the country. After one month, a total of 11,688 university staff participated in the survey indicating a 66% response rate. Using descriptive analysis, reliability analysis, and ANOVA, the results indicate that instrument is considered valid and reliable to be used. The major findings from the study show that organizational values increase over time. Some theoretical and managerial implications are also discussed.

  • Emotional health is important for overall health, and those who are experiencing difficulties should seek professional help. However, the social stigma associated with emotional health, as well as the influence of cultural beliefs, prevent many people from seeking help. This makes early detection difficult, which is critical for such health issues. It would be extremely beneficial if they could assess their emotional state and express their thoughts without prejudices. On the market, there are emotional health apps. However, there was little to no evidence-based information on their quality. Hence, this study was conducted in order to provide evidence-based quality in emotional health mobile apps. Eleven functionality task scenarios were used to assess functional quality, while a System Usability Scale test (n=20) was used to assess usability, customer acceptability, learnability, and satisfaction. The findings show that the app for emotional health management is highly efficient and effective, with a high level of user satisfaction. This contributes to the creation of an app that will be useful and practical for people experiencing early-stage emotional health issues, as well as related stakeholders, in order to manage early-stage emotional health issues.

  • Diastereoselective reduction of 2,3-dioxo-4-carboxy-5-(substituted)pyrrolidine 1 by $NaBH_4/AcOH$ and heterogenous hydrogenation were reported. Stereochemical assignment and diastereomeric ratios of the products were determined using $^1H$ NMR and single crystal X-ray analyses. The steric factors of the C-5 substituents of the pyrrolidinone was shown to have an interesting influence on both the yield and diastereoselectivity of the reduced product.

  • This paper presents a simple, consistent and reliable technique to identify detected partial discharges (PD) using an acoustic ultrasonic method. A new reliable algorithm named 'Simple Partial Discharge Identifier' (SPDI) is proposed to perform identification process of the detected ultrasonic signals of PD. Experimental works based on recommended practices were setup and the ultrasonic signals of the PD were recorded. The PD data is then employed as the reference data. The SPDI developed has been tested against commonly used models in Neural Network (NN). Results from the SPDI algorithm shows more reliable results compared to NN models results. Comparison made on the mean square error (MSE) results shows SPDI produces the desired outcome with lower MSE in 97.17% of trials. Low error of SPDI indicates a high reliability to be applied in the identification of PD.

  • In this paper, rheological characteristics of Metal Injection Moulding (MIM) feedstock using locally binder of palm stearin are presented. The feedstock consisted of 316L-grade stainless steel powder with three different particle sizes and the binders comprise palm stearin and polyethylene. The viscosity of MIM feedstock at different temperatures and shear rates was measured and evaluated. Results showed that, the feedstock containing palm stearin exhibited suitable rheological properties and suitable to produce a homogeneous feedstock that is favorable for injection molding process.

  • This research will attempt to reveal that private developers in the Malaysian construction industry have been practicing strategic partnering in their organizations. While the investigation was conducted using quantitative and qualitative approaches, this paper will only reveal results obtained from the questionnaire survey. Results from the questionnaire survey indicate that private developers in the Malaysian construction industry had implemented strategic partnering in their organizations. The elements of the partnering process, which are partnering formation, partnering application and partnering completion or reactivation were tested. The results show that all the elements of the partnering process have been exercised in their projects. Thus it can be surmised that strategic partnering has been practiced by private developers in the Malaysian construction industry.

  • A conceptual model represents an understanding of a system that is going to be developed, which in this research, a driving simulation software to study driver behavior at signalised intersections. Therefore, video observation was conducted to examine driver compliance behaviour within the dilemma zone at signalised intersection, pertaining to driver's distance from the stop line during yellow light interval. The video was analysed using Thematic Analysis and the data extracted from it was analysed using Chi-Square Independent Test. The Thematic Analysis revealed two major themes which were traffic situation and driver compliance behaviour. Traffic situation is defined as traffic surrounding the driver, such as no car in front and behind, car in front, and car behind. Meanwhile, the Chi-Square Test result indicates that within the dilemma zone, there was a significant relationship between driver compliance behaviour and driver's distance from the stop line during yellow light interval. The closer the drivers were to the stop line, the more likely they were going to comply. In contrast, drivers showed higher noncompliant behavior when further away from stop line. This finding could help us in the development of conceptual model of driving simulation with purpose of studying driver behavior.

  • This study investigates the influence of varying concentrations of boric acid (BA) preservative on the physical and mechanical properties of light red meranti (LRM) found in Sarawak. LRM or Shorea leprosula samples were treated with various concentrations of BA via the dip diffusion method using American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. The physical property, particularly the retention rate and mechanical properties, bending strength, modulus of elasticity (MOE), tensile and compression strength parallel to grain of impregnated and control samples were tested to determine the effects of BA preservative. The retention rate was found to increase with increasing BA concentration and higher surface area to volume ratio. The mechanical properties in terms of the MOE and tensile strength parallel to grain were found to be greater than those of the control samples, whereas the bending strength and tensile strength parallel to grain were lower. Amongst the results, only the retention rate and MOE showed significant interaction effects at 5% level of significance between all factors tested (samples size and BA concentration for retention rate and BA concentration for MOE).
