  • This paper presents a new mobile robot localization method for indoor robot navigation. The method uses hexagon distributed color-coded patches on the ceiling and a camera is installed on the robot facing the ceiling to recognize these patches. The proposed "cell-coded map", with the use of only seven different kinds of color-coded landmarks distributed in hexagonal way, helps reduce the complexity of the landmark structure and the error of landmark recognition. This technique is applicable for navigation in an unlimited size of indoor space. The structure of the landmarks and the recognition method are introduced. And 2 rigid rules are also used to ensure the correctness of the recognition. Experimental results prove that the method is useful.

Lyman alpha emitting blobs at the epoch of cosmic reionization

  • Lyman alpha photons emitted from the early generation galaxies are scattered through the intergalactic medium, and can be observed as Lyman alpha emitting sources. We examine the Lyman alpha line transfer mechanism by tracing the random scattering histories of Lyman alpha photons in the intergalactic medium of the early universe. The density and ionization fields are based on the 3D map by N-body + radiation transfer simulations of the epoch of reionization. The calculation is compared with analytical models, too. The emergent line profile and the size of the Lyman alpha blob are strongly tied to the density and ionization environment, likely to give constraints when high-z Lyman alpha blobs are observed.

  • Interior Mapping은 효율적으로 그래픽 리소스를 최적화하는 방법들 중에 하나로 사용되어왔다. 본 논문에서는 보편화 된 게임엔진인 Unreal Engine 4를 활용하여 Interior Mapping을 적용했을 시 3D 게임 내의 성능 변화를 검증하기 위해 실제 모델링과 Interior Mapping의 렌더링 속도(FPS), 폴리곤 개수, 쉐이더 복잡도, 각각의 리소스 용량을 비교하였다. 또한, 효율적인 기술의 적용을 위해 큐브 맵 텍스처의 해상도와 세부 정보에 따른 성능 차이를 검증하였다.

  • In order to determine the collision risk, the probability estimation is very important part for accurate risk estimation. Recently, the collision risk at the Busan North Port is studied for making the risk map by authors. The result has been found some connections with previous collision places. For more precise estimation, the probability calculation is necessary. Recently the Bayesian matrix is mainly used for calculating the probabilities. Also considering the oil spill risk with tankers, ships' speed, relative angle and ships' size are key aspect whether breaking the double hull or not. This research presents the way of estimating the probabilities not her research and also the collision risk probability considerations for small divided areas.

  • In this pape, we designed and implemented a hardware accelerator for the generation of bit map font from Hangul outline font description for LBP (Laser Beam Printer) and screen applications Whole system was implemented as a double size PC/AT application board which consists of processing bolck and display block. The processing block has a master processor (MC68000)and two slave processors which are MC56001 and KAFOG chip responsible for the short vector generation. In the display block, TMS34061 was used for monitor display and GP425 was used for LBP print out. The resolution of the monitor is 640$\times$480 and that of LBP is 2385$\times$3390. The current system called KHGB90-B generates about 100 characters per second where each character consists of 32$\times$32 bits

  • This paper propose the method to derive RM(Reed-Muller) expansion coefficients for Multiple-Valued function. The general method to obtain RM expansion coefficient for p valued n variable is derivation of single variable transform matrix and expand it n times using Kronecker product. The transform matrix used is p$^{n}$ $\times$ p$^{n}$ matrix. In this case the size of matrix increases depending on the augmentation of variables and the operation is complicated. Thus, to solving the problem, we propose derivation of RM expansion coefficients using p$\times$p transform matrix and Karnaugh-map.

  • The high temperature deformation behavior of spray-formed Al-19wt%Si-1.87wt%Mg-0.085wt.%Fe alloy was studied by torsion testing in the strain rate range of 0.001-1 sec-1 and in the temperature range of 300-500 $^{\circ}C$. The relationship between stress temperature and strain rate is expressed using the Power law. the behavior of dynamic recrystallization is showed in 300-35$0^{\circ}C$, 1-0.1sec-1 and the behavior of dynamic recovery is showed in 450-50$0^{\circ}C$, 0.01-0.001sec-1 The size of Si particles is mall when the temperature is low and the strain rate is high. The strain rate sensitivity(m) and the apparent activation energy(Q) indicate the dependence on strain rate and temperature for flow stress respectively. The hot ductility is high when m is high and Q is low. The maps of strain rate sensitivity and apparent activation energy suggest the optimum processing conditions.

  • Geodetic datums define the size and shape of the earth and the origin and orientation of the coordinate systems used to map the earth. A lot of different datums have been developed and each nation uses its own datum as the basis for coordinate systems used to identify positions in geographic information systems. Recently GPS receivers are widely used to find out location and GPS is based on the World Geodetic System 1984(WGS-84) datum. Therefore the diversity of datums in use today requires accurate conversion between coordinates in different datums. In this study a coordinate conversion program on Windows is developed to transform between Tokyo Bessel(1941), which is the reference datum in Korea, and WGS-84. Several examples of coordinate conversion are presented and computed results are tested and proved to be correct.

A Novel Selective Frame Discard Method for 3D Video over IP Networks

  • Three dimensional (3D) video is expected to be an important application for broadcast and IP streaming services. One of the main limitations for the transmission of 3D video over IP networks is network bandwidth mismatch due to the large size of 3D data, which causes fatal decoding errors and mosaic-like damage. This paper presents a novel selective frame discard method to address the problem. The main idea of the proposed method is the symmetrical discard of the two dimensional (2D) video frame and the depth map frame. Also, the frames to be discarded are selected after additional consideration of the playback deadline, the network bandwidth, and the inter-frame dependency relationship within a group of pictures (GOP). It enables the efficient utilization of the network bandwidth and high quality 3D IPTV service. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method enhances the media quality of 3D video streaming even in the case of bad network conditions.
