SVM (Support vector machine) analysis was performed after applying a deep learning technique based on an Inception-based model (GoogLeNet). The accuracy of automatic image classification was analyzed using an SVM with multiple virtual grid sizes. Six classes were selected from a standard land cover map. Cars were added as a separate item to increase the classification accuracy of roads. The virtual grid size was 2-5 m for natural areas, 5-10 m for traffic areas, and 10-15 m for building areas, based on the size of items and the resolution of input images. The results demonstrate that automatic classification accuracy can be increased by adopting an integrated approach that utilizes weighted virtual grid sizes for different classes.

Fractal image compression can reduce the size of image data by the contractive mapping that is affine transformation to find the block(called as range block) which is the most similar to the original image. Even though fractal image compression is regarded as an efficient way to reduce the data size, it has high distortion rate and requires long encoding time. In this paper, we presented a hybrid fractal image compression system with the modified SOFM Vector Quantizer which uses improved competitive learning method. The simulation results showed that the VQ hybrid fractal using improved competitive loaming SOFM has better distortion rate than the VQ hybrid fractal using normal SOFM.

In the power saving mechanism specified in IEEE 802.11, all node use the sam ATIM window size. Since the ATIM window size critically affects throughput and energy consumption, a fixed ATIM window does not perform well in all situations. This paper proposes the efficient power management mechanism considering network characteristic in 802.11. To reflect the network characteristic, the paper uses th (m,k)-firm deadline technique. Simulation result shows that proposed mechanism outperforms the IEEE 802.11 power saving mechanism in terms of the amount of power consumed.
Recently, autonomous driving technology based on object recognition and lane recognition has attracted attention. However, in foggy weather, haze removal technology is needed because it is difficult to recognize surrounding objects. The technology of removing hazy is currently being studied in many ways, and a single image based haze removal algorithms are typical. In this paper, we design the hardware for haze removal by estimating the hazy partical map. Proposed hardware architecture is designed to have a cumulative histogram based filter that does not affect the hardware size even if the window size of filter increases. The hardware design is implemented with XILINX's xc7z045-ffg900 as the target board.

When a loss of coolant accident (LOCA) occurs in a nuclear power plant, accident scenarios which can prevent core damage are defined based on break size. Current probabilistic safety assessment evaluates that core damage can be prevented under small-break LOCA (SBLOCA) and steam generator tube rupture (SGTR) with rapid cool down (RCD) strategy when all safety injection systems are unavailable. However, previous research has pointed out a limitation of RCD in terms of initiation time. Therefore, RCD success criteria estimation based on allowable coping time under a SBLOCA or SGTR when all safety injection systems are unavailable was performed based on time-line and thermal-hydraulic analyses. The time line analysis assumed a single emergency operating procedure flow, and the thermal hydraulic analysis utilized MARS-KS code with variables of break size, cooling rate, and operator allowable time. Results show while RCD is possible under SGTR, it is impossible under SBLOCA at the APR1400's current cooling rate limitation of 55 K/hr. A success criteria map for RCD under SBLOCA is suggested without cooling rate limitation.

In this paper, we propose a new real time image retargeting method which preserves the contents of an image. Since the conventional seam carving which is the well-known content-based image retargeting technology uses the dynamic programming method, the repetitive update procedure of the accumulation minimum energy map is absolutely needed. The energy map update procedure cannot avoid the processing time delay because of many operations by the image full-searching. The proposed method calculates the diffusion region of each seam candidates in the accumulation minimum energy map in order to reduce the update processing time. By using the diffusion region, several seams are extracted at the same time and the update number of accumulation energy map is reduced. Therefore, although the fast processing is possible, the quality of an image can be analogously maintained with an existing method. The experimental results show that the proposed method can preserve the contents of an image and adjust the image size on a real-time.
This study was done to develop PDA based application system for forest geographic information with GPS. The major results obtained in this study were as follows. A PDA based application program was developed to work on $Microsoft^{TM}$ PocketPC 2002 and 2003 operating system. The screen of PDA displays a 1:25,000 digital topographical map adopted DXF format converted from PC, and the map data with 1:2,500 to 1:30,000 on PDA can be zoomed in or out to five levels. Current position and navigating path received from GPS can be displayed on the screen and be saved in PDA. Information selected among layers of digital topographic map in DXF format can be converted into binary files which can be used on forest geographic information software. This can compress DXF files to 90% in size, and the processing speed of PDA was improved. The forest geographic information management system can be used to manage sample plots on which forest inventory is done, with the help of the sub-menus and grid index values with position information received from GPS. Forest workers can in quire forest geographic information such as forest type, location, forest roads, soil erosion control dams using forest geographic information management system in the field. The forest geographic information management system can provide current position and mobile path information to people who enjoy forest related activities like mountain-climbing, sightseeing, and visiting to historic spots.

In this paper, we propose an obstacle localization method using a road feature based on a V-disparity map binarized by a maximum frequency value. In a conventional method, the detection performance is severely affected by the size, number and type of obstacles. It's especially difficult to extract a large obstacle or a continuous obstacle like a median strip. So we use a road feature as a new decision standard to localize obstacles irrespective of external environments. A road feature is proper to be a new decision standard because it keeps its rough feature very well in V-disparity under environments where many obstacles exist. And first of all, we create a binary V-disparity map using a maximum frequency value to extract a road feature easily. And then we compare the binary V-disparity map with a median value to remove noises. Finally, we use a linear interpolation for rows which have no value. Comparing this road feature with each column value in disparity map, we can localize obstacles robustly. We also propose a post-processing technique to remove noises made in obstacle localization stage. The results in real road tests show that the proposed algorithm has a better performance than a conventional method.

Actual vegetation map drown with the scale 1 to 100 and Alnus japonica population in Ja-neup and Woong-neup of the Mujechi moor were described in order to monitor long-termly and preserve permanently, where is a very rare Molinietea moor and a legally protected area. A total of 3036 plots of 5m $\times$ 5m were surveyed during summer 1996. Thiessen polygons of 1491 alder trees were derived from the plot data. Actual vegetation map was illustrated by 6 cover types such as needle spike-rush type, moor-grass type, alder-moor type, eulalia type, oak forest type, and exposed site. Molinia grasses native to the moor and Miscanthus grasses alien to the moor are reciprocally dominant. The area of Molinia grasslands was rapidly in decline and alder population size was dramatically in increase in the moor, particularly in Woong-neup. In Molinietea moor preservation more attention should be focused on the regulation of a nutrient rich soil from forest road and fire.
Ocean Literacy is an understanding of the ocean's influence on you and your influence on the ocean. This research developed the 7 ocean education model courses using ocean literacy based on the analysis of ocean education programs which executed 23 agencies in Busan. These model courses are combined in the type of indoor theory, indoor experience, field study and field experience. Also, this makes the guide map for ocean education in a 76cm*56cm size to distinguish and choose the course easily. This map is the format combined in geological location and tourist attraction spots in Busan, includes education centers, contents, lead time and so on, and it is possible for educatees to handle their preference and seasonality elastically. This map including ocean education model course is a milestone to activate ocean education, and is helpful to reach the goal of ocean education and to lead ocean professionals. In addition, this research presents the development of teaching materials, training aids to complement the weakness of indoor education, the development of cyber education through making video contents as the activation measures of ocean education.
