Generalization of the web, development of one-person media such as the blog and mini homepage, and integration of video digital devices have generalized multimedia video services on the web. However, flash videos, the previously used bit map-based multimedia videos, exhibit problems like the waterfall phenomenon, lag phenomenon, or non-synchronization of audios or videos. Thereupon, This study is conducted to suggest a converting technique to provide efficient web video service on the web by solving problems of bitmap-based flash video through file format-converting software and movie editing programs. And this paper also conducts experiments on five videos for 13 CODECs and analyzes converted results comparatively. The recommendable method considering the characteristics of each videos is to utilize MainConcept H.264 Video CODEC using SWF2Video pro. The result of this research can be used to produce web videos on the web more effectively.
An efficient access technique is one of the most Important requirements in GIS. Using level -of-detailed data, we can access spatial data efficiently, because of no access to the fully detailed spatial data. Previous spatial access methods do not access data with level of detail efficiently. To solve it, a few spatial access methods for spatial data with level of detail, are known. However these methods support only a few kinds of data with level of detail, i.e, data through selection and simplification operations. For the effects, we propose a new spatial indexing method supporting fast searching in all kinds of data with level of detail. In the proposed method, the collection of indexes in its own level are integrated into a single index structure. Experimental results show that our method offers both no data redundancy and high search performance.
In this paper a novel cancer subtype's classifier based on Hybrid Samples Balanced Genetic Algorithm with Extreme Learning Machine (hSBGA-ELM) is presented. Proposed cancer subtype's classifier uses genes' expression data of 16063 genes from open Global Cancer Map (GCM) data base for accurate cancer subtype's classification. Proposed method efficiently classifies 14 subtypes of cancer (breast, prostate, lung, colorectal, lymphoma, bladder, melanoma, uterus, leukemia, renal, pancreas, ovary, mesothelioma and CNS). Proposed hSBGA-ELM unifies genes' selection procedure and cancer subtype's classification into one framework. Proposed Hybrid Samples Balanced Genetic Algorithm searches a reduced robust set of genes responsible for cancer subtype's classification from 16063 genes available in GCM data base. Selected reduced set of genes is used to build cancer subtype's classifier using Extreme Learning Machine (ELM). As a result, reduced set of robust genes guarantees stable generalization performance of the proposed cancer subtype's classifier. Proposed hSBGA-ELM discovers 95 genes probably responsible for cancer. Comparison with existing cancer subtype's classifiers clear indicates efficiency of the proposed method.
This study observes reporters' awareness on the use of social media and their Core Values by using the Theory of Means-End Chain and drawing conclusions from a Hierarchical Value Map (HVM). In order to analyze reporters' knowledge and awareness on the use of social media via the laddering method, in-depth interviews of 46 reporters were conducted. The study showed that reporters consider sense of kinship, well-balanced understanding, and the desire for knowledge to be important Core Values. The results revealed that the convenience in interpersonal communication, development of intimacy in relationships, entertainment and affection, curiosity, the reduction in the cost of the acquisition of information, understanding of trends in issues, a peek into new information and the maintenance of interests, psychological dependability, and quick updates on information items are considered important Consequences of social media. In the Attributes level, the ability to write postings and links on Facebook and readability and 'follow' and 'mention' features on Twitter were confirmed to be important items in social media. The findings infer that reporters that make use of social media use Twitter and Facebook to build a sense of kinship with other users and gain well-balanced understanding by accessing a lot of information through social media. While this study examined the level of reporters' familiarity with the use of social media via the laddering method, the results cannot be seen as a generalization, as the interviewees were reporters from only the major news organizations.

In this paper, we propose a method for the random selection of pooling operations for the regularization and reduction of cross validation in convolutional neural networks. The pooling operation in convolutional neural networks is used to reduce the size of the feature map and for its shift invariant properties. In the existing pooling method, one pooling operation is applied in each pooling layer. Because this method fixes the convolution network, the network suffers from overfitting, which means that it excessively fits the models to the training samples. In addition, to find the best combination of pooling operations to maximize the performance, cross validation must be performed. To solve these problems, we introduce the probability concept into the pooling layers. The proposed method does not select one pooling operation in each pooling layer. Instead, we randomly select one pooling operation among multiple pooling operations in each pooling region during training, and for testing purposes, we use probabilistic weighting to produce the expected output. The proposed method can be seen as a technique in which many networks are approximately averaged using a different pooling operation in each pooling region. Therefore, this method avoids the overfitting problem, as well as reducing the amount of cross validation. The experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve better generalization performance and reduce the need for cross validation.
The purpose of this study was to analyze recognition characteristics of science gifted students on the earth system based on their thinking style. The subjects were 24 science gifted students at the Science Institute for Gifted Students of a university located in metropolitan city in Korea. The students' thinking styles were firstly examined on the basis of the Sternberg's theory of mental self-government. And then, the students were divided into two groups: Type I group(legislative, judicial, global, liberal) and Type II group(executive, local, conservative) based on Sternberg's theory. Data was collected from three different type of questionnaires(A, B, C types), interview, word association method, drawing analyses, concept map, hidden dimension inventory, and in-depth interviews. The findings of analysis indicated that their thinking styles were characterized by 'Legislative', 'Executive', 'Anarchic', 'Global', 'External', 'Liberal' styles. Their preference were conducting new projects and using creative problem solving processes. The results of students' recognition characteristics on earth system were as follows: First, though the two groups' quantitative value on 'System Understanding' was very similar, there were considerable distinctions in details. Second, 'Understanding the Relationship in the System' was closely connected to thinking styles. Type I group was more advantageous with multiple, dynamic, and recursive approach. Third, in the relation to 'System Generalization' both of the groups had similar simple interpretational ability of the system, but Type I group was better on generalization when 'hidden dimension inventory' factor was added. On the system prediction factor, however, students' ability was weak regardless of the type. Consequently, more specific development strategies on various objects are needed for the development and application of the system learning program. Furthermore, it is expected that this study could be practically and effectively used on various fields related to system recognition.
Let X be a topological space. We consider a groupoid G over X and the quotient groupoid G/N for any normal subgroupoid N of G. The concept of groupoid (topological groupoid) is a natural generalization of the group(topological group). An useful example of a groupoid over X is the foundamental groupoid .pi.X whose object group at x.mem.X is the fundamental group .pi.(X, x). It is known [5] that if X is locally simply connected, then the topology of X determines a topology on .pi.X so that is becomes a topological groupoid over X, and a covering space of the product space X*X. In this paper the concept of the locally simple connectivity of a topological space X is applied to the groupoid G over X. That concept is defined as a term '1-connected local subgroupoid' of G. Using this concept we topologize the groupoid G so that it becomes a topological groupoid over X. With this topology the connected groupoid G is a covering space of the product space X*X. Further-more, if ob(.overbar.G)=.overbar.X is a covering space of X, then the groupoid .overbar.G is also a covering space of the groupoid G. Since the fundamental groupoid .pi.X of X satisfying a certain condition has an 1-connected local subgroupoid, .pi.X can always be topologized. In this case the topology on .pi.X is the same as that of [5]. In section 4 the results on the groupoid G are generalized to the quotient groupoid G/N. For any topological groupoid G over X and normal subgroupoid N of G, the abstract quotient groupoid G/N can be given the identification topology, but with this topology G/N need not be a topological groupoid over X [4]. However the induced topology (H) on G makes G/N (with the identification topology) a topological groupoid over X. A final section is related to the covering morphism. Let G$_{1}$ and G$_{2}$ be groupoids over the sets X$_{1}$ and X$_{2}$, respectively, and .phi.:G$_{1}$.rarw.G$_{2}$ be a covering spimorphism. If X$_{2}$ is a topological space and G$_{2}$ has an 1-connected local subgroupoid, then we can topologize X$_{1}$ so that ob(.phi.):X$_{1}$.rarw.X$_{2}$ is a covering map and .phi.: G$_{1}$.rarw.G$_{2}$ is a topological covering morphism.
Water resources which is formed of surface and groundwater, are considered as one of the pivotal natural resources worldwide. Since last century, the rapid population growth as well as accelerated industrialization and explosive urbanization lead to boost demand for groundwater for domestic, industrial and agricultural use. In fact, better management of groundwater can play crucial role in sustainable development; therefore, determining accurate location of groundwater based groundwater potential mapping is indispensable. In recent years, integration of machine learning techniques, Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) are popular and effective methods employed for groundwater potential mapping. For determining the status of the integrated approach, a systematic review of 94 directly relevant papers were carried out over the six previous years (2015-2020). According to the literature review, the number of studies published annually increased rapidly over time. The total study area spanned 15 countries, and 85.1% of studies focused on Iran, India, China, South Korea, and Iraq. 20 variables were found to be frequently involved in groundwater potential investigations, of which 9 factors are almost always present namely slope, lithology (geology), land use/land cover (LU/LC), drainage/river density, altitude (elevation), topographic wetness index (TWI), distance from river, rainfall, and aspect. The data integration was carried random forest, support vector machine and boost regression tree among the machine learning techniques. Our study shows that for optimal results, groundwater mapping must be used as a tool to complement field work, rather than a low-cost substitute. Consequently, more study should be conducted to enhance the generalization and precision of groundwater potential map.
