  • High vibration of a low pressure (LP) turbine casing caused safety problems and life at the facility it was housed in. The main focus of this study was the cause of the high vibration in a low pressure turbine casing with manufacturing defects by frequency response analysis, compared with the results of experiments. Therefore, excited accelerations were obtained from the LP casing fundamental, and frequency responses were analyzed. The measurement and the modal analysis showed that the natural frequency of the LP turbine casing was 61.26 Hz and the excited frequency of the turbine rotor was 60.25 Hz. The manufacturing defect caused a decrease in the casing natural frequency and resulted in the high vibration of the casing because it moved close to the resonant frequency.

  • This study was conducted on a high-temperature/high-pressure washer in which low-pressure cold water in a boiler is heated to a temperature range of $70{\sim}80^{\circ}C$ by supplying diesel combustion heat. The high-temperature water is sent to a compressor to increase its pressure to 200 bar, thereby making high-temperature/high-pressure water, which is sprayed through a spray nozzle. In the results of this study, the spray temperature of the high-pressure washing was shown to be the highest when the ratio between the actual amount of combustible air and the theoretical amount of air was 1:1 and the energy consumption rate of the low-pressure boiler type high-pressure washer was shown to be much lower than that of the high-pressure boiler type high-pressure washer.

  • Pressure resistance welding is usually used to seal the connection between the cladding tube and the end plug made of zirconium alloy. The seal welded joint has a direct effect on the service performance of the fuel rod cladding structure. In this paper, the pressure resistance welded joints of zirconium alloy tube-plug structure were obtained by thermal-mechanical simulation experiments. The microstructure and microhardness of the joints were both analyzed. The effect of processing parameters on the microstructure was studied in detail. The results showed that there was no β-Zr phase observed in the joint, and no obvious element segregation. There were different types of Widmanstätten structure in the thermo-mechanically affected zone (TMAZ) and heat affected zone (HAZ) of the cladding tube and the end plug joint because of the low cooling rate. Some part of the grains in the joint grew up due to overheating. Its size was about 2.8 times that of the base metal grains. Due to the high dislocation density and texture evolution, the microhardnesses of TMAZ and HAZ were both significantly higher than that of the base metal, and the microhardness of the TMAZ was the highest. With the increasing of welding temperature, the proportion of recrystallization in TMAZ decreased, which was caused by the increasing of strain rate and dislocation annihilation.

  • A high-pressure, high-pressure drop control valve, which transforms the power transfer of a system by reducing the inlet pressure of 345bartothe outlet pressure of 112bar, is a fundamental component in an offshore plant process. With the increasingly growing market share of the maritime industry, this valve has been expected to be a high-value-added product. This study not only analyzes the relation between pressure drop and fluid velocity in a trim by using fluid analysis, but also examines the possibility of cavitation in a valve in addition to the plot for the extension of lifespan. Based on the analysis results, the design and production method of the valve are established, and accordingly, performance evaluation is carried out. It is demonstrated that the pressure drop from 345bar to 112bar is more feasible in the presence of the trim, which can induce a continuous and diminutive pressure drop in order to prevent cavitation in a high-pressure drop control valve. Furthermore, despite the fluid velocity near a seatring being found to be over 30m/s, the lifespan of the valve is determined to be adequate considering the operation condition of a prototype valve of 80%.

  • Nonlinear property and contact matter are analyzed about the pipe applied with internal pressure through this study. The weakest part and its safety can be examined. Maximum equivalent stress is shown at the contact surface between bolt and nut. The value of contact stress with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The maximum contact pressure is shown at the clamp corner of the external surface on pipe. The value of contact pressure with the pressure of 12MPa is increased 1.4 times as large as that with no pressure. The radial deformation with no pressure is also increased greatly at the middle part of internal surface on pipe. But this maximum deformation on pipe with the pressure of 12MPa is shown at the part far away the support of pipe. This value is increased 5.7 times as large as that value with no pressure. As contact status, the sticking occurs most at the external surface of pipe. It also tends to occur at the contact surface between bolt and nut. At the external surface of pipe, the sticking in case of the pressure of 12MPa occurs more than that in case of no pressure.

  • A manufacturing process of composite pressure vessel was studied. The vessel was fabricated using the filament winding process. It is utilized as a container of high pressure Helium gas which propels a rocket fuel and an oxidizer. The layup patterns were determined based on the lamination theory. 3-axis controlled filament winding machine was developed to realize the patterns. The vessel was successfully fabricated using the developed machine. And the hydraulic pressure test was performed to measure an applied pressure-strain relations on the composite vessel.

  • This study analyzes about the variation of pressure and stream velocity according to the movement of tail wing. The pressure at the front part of airplane becomes lower than at the rear part and the stream velocity has decreased by being bumped against the wing of airplane. The pressure at the front part of rudder becomes higher than at its rear part according to the movement of rudder among the tail wings of airplane. The more stream velocity becomes decreased, the more rudder spreads out. As the tail wing of airplane folds, the pressure at its front part becomes higher. And the pressure at its rear part becomes lower than at its front part. The more tail wing of airplane folds, the more stream velocity becomes decreased.

  • A pressure vessel consists of an inner tank and the outer tank; the material of the inner tank is austenite stainless steel, and the outer tank is general carbon steel. As the storage amount increase, the size of the inner tank for LNG also increases, which eventually increases the weight of the LNG storage tank. The Cold Stretch method can transport and store the LNG in a larger amount than the conventional pressure container, and the weight of the pressure vessel can also be reduced at 50 70% due to the reduction of the thickness, which is excellent from an economic and energy consumption perspective. Although the Cold Stretch method has these advantages, the domestic situation has not developed any related legislation. In this study, the actual production of pressure vessels using the Cold Stretch method will be processed and the volume expansion after the Cold Stretch will be checked and compared with the mechanical properties.

  • In this study, it was grasped to the flow characteristics of injection nozzle installed in high pressure holder for improving productivity. Chip curling occurred during cutting process for difficult-to-cut material detracts product qualities and productivity. Among of method preventing the phenomenon, high pressure injecting cutting oil is an alterative. In this study, the optimal nozzle was designed by CFD method and it was conducted to analyse on the effect of high pressure injection on chip shape generated during cutting process and wear of insert by experimental method. As the result, it could be confirmed that high pressure injection is favorable for preventing chip curling and insert from wearing.
