  • Autonomous and intelligent resource model (AIR-model) defines a building-block of complex systems to pursue value creation by means of diverse resources, referred to as an AIR-unit, and presents a collaboration model with the AIR-units. An AIR-unit represents a piece of resources, such as machines, labor, raw materials, and other assets, considered individually by a complex system as means to accomplish given tasks. It is defined with its own service capability and a goal, and pursues achieving the goal by means of the capability. Moreover, an Air-unit is equipped with autonomy and intelligence, whereby it makes a decision on its course of action on its own initiative. Air-units collaborate on system operations with each other through goal-oriented negotiations. In this research, distinctive features of the AIR-model are addressed and described in detail. Principal components of the AIR-model are also designed via object-oriented modeling techniques. A prototype system based on the AIR-model is finally presented as an embodiment tool of a fractal manufacturing system (FrMS).

  • Salt is an essential ingredient for cheese production, and it influences various aspects of cheese, including the shelf life, enzyme activity, flavor, casein hydration, and microbial proliferation during ripening. Several consumers avoid cheese with high salt content, mainly due to health problems such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease (CVD), stroke, and heart attacks. Salt has been commonly used for several purposes in cheese production, including for obtaining the required flavor and texture, for its preservative properties, and as a taste enhancer. However, salt usage has been opposed by the public and governmental bodies, who have been advised by health authorities that salt should be reduced or avoided in cheese for healthier life. However, salt replacement or reduction in cheese manufacturing requires formulation of intensive strategies. This review provides information about several strategies and innovations for reduction and replacement of salt in cheese manufacturing without seriously affecting the quality, microbial safety, and sensory properties of cheeses.

The Need for Research on the Comparison of Sensory Characteristics between Cultured Meat Produced Using Scaffolds and Meat

  • Cultured meat is one of the research areas currently in the spotlight in the agricultural and livestock industry, and refers to cells obtained from livestock that are proliferated and differentiated and processed into edible meat. These cell-cultured meats are mainly studied at the lab-scale by culturing them in flasks, and for commercial use, they are produced using scaffolds that mimic cell supports. Scaffolds are broadly divided into fiber scaffolds, hydrogels, and micro-carrier beads, and these are classified according to processing methods and materials. In particular, a scaffold is essential for mass production, which allows it to have appearance, texture, and flavor characteristics similar to meat. Because cultured meat is cultured in a state where oxygen is blocked, it may be lighter in color or produce less flavor substances than edible meat, but these can be compensated for by adding natural substances to the scaffolds or improving fat adhesion. In addition, it has the advantage of being able to express the texture characteristics of the scaffolds that make up the meat in various ways depending on the materials and manufacturing methods of the scaffolds. As a result, to increase consumers' preference for cultured meat and its similarity to edible meat, it is believed that manufacturing scaffolds taking into account the characteristics of edible meat will serve as an important factor. Therefore, continued research and interest in scaffolds is believed to be necessary.

천일염 생산공정별 미생물 분포 조사 및 호염미생물 동정 (Distribution and Identification of Halophilic Bacteria in Solar Salts Produced during Entire Manufacturing Process)

  • 우리나라 전남지역에서 생산되는 천일염의 생산공정별 미생물 분포 조사 및 배양 분리법을 이용하여 호염미생물을 분리하여 동정하는 것을 이번 연구의 목표로 삼았다. 천일염 시료는 생산지를 고려하여 육지 염전인 영광군 한 지역과 해안 염전 지역인 신안군 두 군데에서 생산공정별로 세분화하여 총 28개 분석시료를 수집하여 사용하였으며, 이들 시료를 십진 희석하여 4종류의 미생물 분리용 배지에 도말, 배양한 후 나타난 집락(colony)을 계수하였다. 그 결과 천일염 생산 공정 중 대장균 등의 식품 오염지표 미생물은 검출되지 않았지만, 저장수에서 증발지 단계로 진행되면서 $1.1{\times}10^3{\sim}1.8{\times}10^5$ CFU/g의 호염성 미생물들이 검출되었다. 그러나 이후 단계인 함수저장고, 결정지에서는 미생물 수가 점차적으로 감소되었으며, 소금저장소에 보관된 천일염 시료에서는 미생물이 전혀 검출되지 않았다. 이들 분리균들은 형태학적 특성에 따라 무작위로 62개 집락을 선정하여 분리하였다. 순수 분리된 미생물들은 PCR 기법을 통해 16S rRNA 유전자의 염기서열을 분석한 후, 기존에 보고된 미생물 유전자 database와 비교함으로써 12속의 천일염 유래 호염균들의 존재를 확인하였다. 이번 연구 결과 천일염 생산 단계에서 분리된 halophilic bacteria은 Halobacillus, Halomonas, Bacillus, Idiomarina, Marinobacter, Pseudoalteromonas, Vibrio, Salinivibrio, Virgibacillus, Alteromonas, Staphylococcus 및 un-known 등이다.

남북한 경제협력사업으로 북한 자원개발 방안 (Proposal for South-North Mining Cooperation (Natural Resources Exploitation in the Peoples Republic of Korea))

  • The Republic of Korea (South) and the Peaples Republic of Korea (North) had agreed to exploit the North Korean rich natural resources starting from the year of 2006. Through this mutual agreement DPRK shall quarantee ROK's investment in the North Korean Mines and supply mineral products for the compasation of the financial investment supported by ROK. In the area of northern part of Korea, many kind of natural resources such as Magnesite, Iron, Gold & Silver, Copper, Lead & Zinc, and Coal are plentifully deposited. In the area of southern part of Korea, however, most kind of natural resources have been exhausted and so presently major minerals such as Gold & Silver, Copper, Lead & Zinc and Coal are being imported and relying on foreign countries in whole quantity of the requirement. On the other hand Northern Part of Korea is making very slow progress in mining and exploitation owing to the lack of investment even though there are rich deposits of natural resources. And in Southern Part of Korea, they have most advanced production facilities and technologies in the world in the fields of Mineral Floatation, Steel Manufacturing, Nonferrous Metal Smelting & Refining and those plants fabrications. A combination of Southern Technologies together with Financial Support and Northern rich natural resources & Labour Power will be a most hopeful, desirable and mutually required 'South-North economic Cooperation' as the mining industries are labour intensive.

Solvent Extraction Separation of Co, Mn and Zn from leaching solution from Ni-Cd battery by Na-PC88A

  • Solvent extraction experiments for separation of impurities from Ni-rich solution were carried out for manufacturing of high purity Ni compounds from acid leaching solution of spent Ni-Cd secondary battery. Artificial and leaching solutions were used as aqueous phases and PC88A saponified by sodium in kerosene were used as organic phase. The extraction order is Zn>Mn>Co>Ni and extraction percentage of metal ions was increased with increase of the concentration of extractant, initial pH of aqueous phase and ratio of O/A. The separation of cobalt, zinc and manganese from nickel was effectively accomplished at the condition of extraction stage=l, O/A=1 and initial pH 5.0 with 1.0 $mol/dm^3$ PC88A saponified to $50\%$ with NaOH.

실험계획법을 이용한 가열방식의 순환굵은골재 제조를 위한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Heating Manufacture of Recycled Aggregate by Design of Experiment)

  • 폐기물 콘크리트의 사용은 환경 오염과 자연 골재의 부족을 해결할 수 있으나, 이러한 재생 골재는 골재 표면에 붙어 있는 시멘트 페이스트 량이 많아서 천연골재보다 더 많은 기포를 함유하고 있어 역학적 저항능력이 감소된다. 이러한 이유로, 최근에 고품질의 재활용 재생골재의 새로운 제조 공법으로 가열 등의 해결방법이 제안되어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 고품질의 재활용 골재의 생산을 위해, 재생골재의 현존 제조공정에 가열 및 분쇄 공정을 추가하는 방법을 제안하였다. 최적의 프로세스를 찾기 위해서 통계적 실험계획법을 사용하여 실험을 수행하였고 가열 온도(4단계 : 300, 450, 600 및 $750^{\circ}C$) 및 가열 시간(4단계 : 5, 20, 40, 60분)이 주요 실험 변수였다. 시험 결과에 의해, 굵은 골재의 재활용을 위한 최적의 제조 조건은 $600^{\circ}C$와 40분으로 나타났다.

Characterizations of High Early-Strength Type Shrinkage Reducing Cement and Calcium Sulfo-aluminate by Using Industrial Wastes

  • In this study, the utilization of the by-products of various industries was examined using raw materials of CSA high-functional cement such as coal bottom ash, red mud, phosphate gypsum, etc. Technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce $CO_2$ was developed as part of the manufacturing process; this technology included lower temperature sintering ($150{\sim}200^{\circ}C$) than is used in the OPC cement manufacturing process, replacement of CSA cement with the main raw material bauxite, and a determination of the optimum mix condition. In order to develop CSA cement, a manufacturing system was established in the Danyang plant of the HANIL Cement Co. Ltd., in Korea. About 4,200 tons of low purity expansion agent CSA cement (about 16%) and about 850 tons of the lime-based expansion agent dead burned lime (about 8%) were produced at a rate of 60 tons per hour at the HANIL Cement rotary kiln. To improve the OPC cement properties, samples of 10%, 13%, and 16% of CSA cement were mixed with the OPC cement and the compressive strength and length variation rate of the green cement were examined. When green cement was mixed with each ratio of CSA cement and OPC cement, the compressive strength was improved by about 30% and the expansibility of the green cement was also improved. When green cement was mixed with 16% of CSA cement, the compressive strength was excellent compared with that of OPC cement. Therefore, this study indicates the possibility of a practical use of low-cost CSA cement employing industrial wastes only.

  • 본 연구에서는 SBFC의 기본 성능을 분석하고, 페이스트 및 모르터에서의 공학적 특성을 검토하여, 향후 경제적인 조강콘크리트 개발을 위한 방안으로 활용하고자 하였다. 실험결과 SBFC의 우수한 조기강도 발현 성능을 확인 할 수 있었고, 유동성을 고려했을 때 OPC와 SBFC와의 적정 혼입율을 도출하여 사용하는 것이 바람직 할 것으로 판단된다.

  • 콘크리트 제조시 많은 에너지가 소모되며 특히 결합재인 시멘트는 제조과정에서 다량의 $CO_2$를 배출하기 때문에 이러한 부정적인 인식을 해소하기 위한 노력이 진행되고 있으며, 최근 들어 환경 친화적인 에코 콘크리트의 제조 및 적용에 대한 관심이 높아가고 있다. 에코 콘크리트는 환경부하의 저감, 산업폐기물의 활용 및 환경관련 성능의 향상 등 다양한 접근 방법이 있으며 이러한 방법들이 국내에 정착하기 위해서는 지속가능한 개발로 친환경 성능이 개선된 콘크리트의 제조에 관한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 콘크리트용 시멘트 및 골재를 천연재료인 메타카올린 및 산업부산물인 동슬래그로 대체 활용한 환경 부하 저감 목적의 에코형 혼합콘크리트를 제작한 후 각 종 시험결과를 통하여 그 활용 가능성을 고찰하였다.
