Batch Sizing Heuristic for Batch Processing Workstations in Semiconductor Manufacturing (반도체 생산 배취공정에서의 배취 크기의 결정)

  • Semiconductor manufacturing line includes several batch processes which are to be controlled effectively to enhance the productivity of the line. The key problem in batch processes is a dynamic batch sizing problem which determines number of lots processed simultaneously in a single botch. The batch sizing problem in semiconductor manufacturing has to consider delay of lots, setup cost of the process, machine utilization and so on. However, an optimal solution cannot be attainable due to dynamic arrival pattern of lots, and difficulties in forecasting future arrival times of lots of the process. This paper proposes an efficient batch sizing heuristic, which considers delay cost, setup cost, and effect of the forecast errors in determining the botch size dynamically. Extensive numerical experiments through simulation are carried out to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed heuristic in four key performance criteria: average delay, variance of delay, overage lot size and total cost. The results show that the proposed heuristic works effectively and efficiently.

  • Rapid Prototyping (RP) techniques have their unique characteristics according to the working principles: stair-stepped surface of parts due to layer-by-layer stacking, low build speed caused by line-by-line solidification to build one layer, and additional post processing to improve surface roughness, so it is required very high cost to introduce and to maintain RP apparatus. The objective of this study is to develop and design a new RP process, Variable Lamination Manufacturing using expandable polystyrene foam sheet as part material (VLM-S), which can make up for the disadvantage of existing techniques, and to develop an apparatus to implement the process. In order to examine the possibility of practical utilization of the proposed VLM-S process for prototyping of a general three-dimensional shape, an auto-shift lever knob and a pyramid shape were fabricated.

  • When manufacturing large sized OLED devices, the evaporation source is the most important technology. The nozzle source maintains the uniformity of the large-size deposited organic thin film at the 2-3% level and its usage is only 0.8 gram/hour. The in-line manufacturing deposition system combining with an encapsulation system is proposed.

In order to examine the applicability of the developed software to VLM-S, USP's of general three-dimensional shapes, such as an auto-shift lever knob and a pyramid shape were generated.

  • Mixed-model production lines are often used in manufacturing systems. In production lines, different product types are simultaneously manufactured by processing small batches. This paper describes a new welding assembly technology involving the development of experimental models for a mixed-model production line in an automobile company. Due to the extensive number of models, the design of a welding assembly system is complicated. Performance evaluation is an important phase in the design of welding assembly lines in a mixed-model production environment. In this study, a new welding assembly technology for a mixed-model production method was used to weld the package tray and dash panel of a vehicle.

Colour Linear Array Image Enhancement Method with Constant Colour

  • Digital images of cultural relics captured using line scan cameras present limitations due to uneven intensity and low contrast. To address this issue, this report proposes a colour linear array image enhancement method that can maintain a constant colour. First, the colour linear array image is converted from the red-green-blue (RGB) colour space into the hue-saturation-intensity colour space, and the three components of hue, saturation, and intensity are separated. Subsequently, the hue and saturation components are held constant while the intensity component is processed using the established intensity compensation model to eliminate the uneven intensity of the image. On this basis, the contrast of the intensity component is enhanced using an improved local contrast enhancement method. Finally, the processed image is converted into the RGB colour space. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method can significantly improve the visual effect of colour linear array images. Moreover, the objective quality evaluation parameters are improved compared to those determined using existing methods.

  • Mortar feedstock is extruded to form bead and it is selectively placed line by line in the material extrusion additive manufacturing. With respects to part building process healthiness, load-supporting ability of overlaid beads is emphasized as buildability. Buildability is primarily dependent on thixotropic properties of feedstock and vertical overlapping schedule. In the present study, water-to-binder (w/b) ratio was chosen as material aspect to assess buildability. Uneven bead shape evolution and premature failure were highlighted owing to low yield stress of high w/b ratio feedstock. Feedstock with optimum w/b ratio showed good buildability even at the interval time of 19 sec.

  • The tiny camera module used in a modern cellular phone requires precise assembly processes. To meet the requirement of high resolution and functionality, the number of parts used in a camera module becomes larger and larger. As the market grows rapidly, an automatic camera phone assembly process is required. However, diverse production line and short life cycle make it difficult to build an affordable assembly line. To attack this problem, a flexible and expandable lens assembly system is proposed. To save the manufacturing line set-up time, modular concept is adopted. Also, each module is designed to have intelligence to simplify the set-up process. The assembly system is built up on the standard flat-form that includes a vibration free base, air and electric supplies, and electronic controllers, etc. Furthermore, the assembly cell has the capability of handling tiny, thin, or transparent parts which are very difficult to identify without machine vision.

  • In this paper, the band structural design that is typically in a line was arranged in a ring shape, so as to configure the high power LED lighting in such a way as to form a concentrated light distribution angle of less than 15 degrees. The parabolic aluminized reflector PAR38 that facilitates design using area and the area of the optical system to the same extent, applied a multiple light-source condenser lens optical system for the control of integration. The LED used here implemented a single linear light source using ans LED module with ans LED, flip-chip chip-scale package. The optical system was designed based on the energy star standard.

  • Electrical isolation of Ag nanowire, which is one of the candidates as electrode for display devices, on polymer with femtosecond pulse laser has been investigated. Line patterning to Ag nanowire with various pulse energy and scan speed were experimented. Duo to the results of the line patterning experiment, we fabricated the isolated squares and measured electrical resistance. The profile of the selectively ablated area was analyzed with AFM(Atomic Force Microscope). The width of the patterned line was $1.8\;{\mu}m$ and the depth was $1.6\;{\mu}m$. We demonstrated electrical isolation of the Ag nanowire using femtosecond laser by evaluating the electrical resistance of the sample between isolated and opened area.
