Medical emergencies are not rare in dental practice but when an emergency does occur it can be life-threatening. Medical emergency such as hypertensive crisis can be encountered in dental practice and the dentist should be competent in emergency management by taking life support courses. This report shows 3 cases of hypertensive crisis during dental treatment and we discuss proper management of the patients. The medical and dental management for the hypertensive crisis included a correct diagnosis, pharmacological usages for pain control and stress relieving environment making.

Purpose: This study compares quality crisis and management at Hyundai Motor in the late 1990s and Toyota Motor in the late 2000s. We can expect to induce more meaningful policy implications in quality management from this in-depth comparative case study. Methods: This study compares two cases at Hyundai and Toyota Motor how to overcome quality crisis based on the OESP (Organization-Environments-Strategy- Performance) model. Results: Hyundai Motor shows centralized approach based on the asymmetric organizational culture and the entrepreneurial leadership but Toyota shows decentralized, systematic approach based on the steady state leadership and symmetric organizational culture. The CEO's leadership have proved to be one of the important factors at both companies. Conclusion: The effective quality management in global contexts has become more and more difficult for the 'complexity explosions' in automobile industry. As a consequence, the future competitive edge of world automobile industry will come from the effective quality management of products in global contexts.

This study introduces the concepts on the phase-shifting phenomenon of financial markets, which was firstly used in econophysics area and explains how the phase-shifting behavior is studied in the fields of business management and finance. Specifically, we explain how the phases of financial markets are extremely changed under some external conditions, do an extensive literature review, and carry out case studies focusing on the 3 major financial crisis events including the 87 October crash, 97 Asian financial crisis, and 2007 global financial crisis. We also empirically examine the phase-shifting behavior of the Korean ELW products that has a similar payoff structure to the KOSPI200 options.

This is a study on hostage crisis and effective resolution of the crisis. First, we surveyed the theoretical guidance for our study: definition, patterns, of hostage crisis; psychology of hostage-takers. And we explores a great variety of hostage crisis cases to develop principles and methods for negotiation and subjugation. We suggest, throughout this study, some action program to be developed, as follow: First, we need to broaden and deepen the understanding on the issue of hostage-crisis by expanding educational opportunity on the issue, while raising hostage negotiators. Second, information sharing system among hostage management related offices, and complete training for SWAT team are required. Third, when a hostage-crisis is raised, police enforcement must corporate with mass-media in a way of close manner. Fourth, in a critical hostage crisis, the commander should appear on site for effective command. Lastly, the top-priority for the commander who is in charge of the crisis should be put on the security of hostage and hostage-taker, as well.

The purpose of this research is to deduce the frailties of the operating condition of Korea's national crisis management system through a comprehensive perspective analysis. It is then to present efficient measures through the enhancement of these infirmities. For this, after examining the fundamental theory, we presented a development direction based on the current status of the 6 key systems composing the national crisis management system. We also included items regarding each of the policy proposal in our conclusion. The fundamental theory of Korea's national crisis management system has been integrated based on a comprehensive security concept. However, the system development which drives the integrated structure still remains solely as a legal and structural category. Thus, operating, informing-oriented, supporting management, and rearing professional manpower systems have yet to be cultivated with efficiency. In conclusion, this research is to present a development direction from a conceptual dimension and to analyze the current status of the 6 key systems which are law, organization, operation, information-oriented, support management, training, and education. Finally, this research highlights the policy measures to fully maximize system efficiency.

The concept of national security and the fundamental system for crisis management have departed from traditional methods and the importance of a national critical infrastructure crisis management has been emphasized. A national critical infrastructure crisis means a situation where human resource, material and functional system that may have a material effect on the critical functions of the government, the vitality and integrity of society, national economy and the safety of the public becomes disabled due to causes such as terrorism or major disasters. Although North Korea had been subject to numerous rounds of negotiations and sanctions as it continually developed nuclear weapons since the 1960s, it has also showed off its nuclear armaments through successful nuclear testings and missile launches. As the development and threat of North Korea's weapons of mass destruction becomes more noticeable and the range of its risk expands, this study focuses on the potential for an absence of leadership for national crisis management where the country's leadership, which should serve the critical role and function of handling national crises, becomes completely destroyed by the unexpected initial attacks by North Korea. As a result, the purpose of this study is to propose safety measures for the country's leadership in preparation for North Korea's threat of nuclear weapons by examining the concept and degree of risk of weapons of mass destruction with a focus on nuclear weapons, analyzing the substance of the threat of North Korean nuclear weapons and evaluating such threat. In conclusion, first, to ensure the normal functioning of a national crisis management system in the event of a national crisis, we must seek safety measures that conform to the scope and succession order of the leadership of the national crisis management for an Enduring Constitutional Government (ECG) and the Continuity Of Operations (COOP). Second, in the event of a national ceremony, the gathering of the country's leadership all together in an open place should be avoided. In unavoidable circumstances, the next in rank that will act on behalf of the current leader should be designated and relevant safety measures should be taken. Third, during time of peace, in preparation for national crises, the scope of protection for the country's leadership should be prescribed and specific security and safety measures should be implemented. Fourth, the succession order for acting president in the case of the death of the president pursuant to Articles 71 and 26(1) of the National Government Organization Act should reconsidered to see whether it is a reasonable provision that takes into consideration a national crisis management that corresponds to the threat of North Korean nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction. Pursuant to the Basic Guidelines for National Crisis Management set out under Presidential Directive No. 229, the Korean government is currently operating a case-by-case "crisis management standard manual" and its sub-manuals and has also prepared the Presidential Security Service's security and safety measure regulations regarding the acting president. Therefore, the Korean government should actualize the above points in the case-by-case crisis management standard manual and security and safety measure regulations regarding the acting president to implement and legislate them.

These days our society, no matter it is individual or community or nation it has diversity big and small trouble and Terrorism, disaster that gives national crisis in many different ways. Also security terrorism is important in national crisis just same as security of nation and disaster in national crisis management. Specially, attacking national sovereign and the head of the government are still increasingly and if deadly terror happens than nation will get big crisis and can get aftereffect. Accordingly way of development about crisis control in security terrorism, first of all, for make confrontation system because of crisis management, need judical revision about escort law and prevention of terror. Second of all, need exclusion of guard danger element for strengthening guard safe action. Third of all, strengthening education to people so increase ability of conquest in the scene. Finally, security terror not only directly purpose also indirectly purpose increase, need to development about guards way and need a strong will to reduce terrorism, also put emphasis on prevention guards action and before the fact make perfection more perfect in crisis control to removal element of terror.

Department of Defense, Republic of Korea has put in significant efforts towards safety over the years by developing defense safety management systems, such as establishing safety management organizations and enacting laws and regulations. Therefore, the number of casualties due to military activities has been reduced dramatically. However, many errors and problems are present in the safety management system (SMS) owing to a lack of proper SMS. That brings inefficiency and discontinuity in SMS. Hence, typical phenomena such as lack of safety management professionals and reactive safety management activities have not been properly corrected. This study reviews various academic papers on the SMS and research reports of major foreign institutions to redefine the concept and components of the defense safety management system to ultimately suggest improvement in the R.O.K defense safety management system. Additionally, the safety management system of the U.S. and British forces, considered to be the leading safety management system, were analyzed and compared to R.O.K defense SMS to derive their implications.
