  • This is a descriptive study on quality of life(QOL) and related factors of ostomates to provide a basic data for development of nursing interventions. The subjects were 110 ostomates who were members of the Daegu or Daejon branches of the Korean Ostomy Association. Data collection was performed between March 1st and April 6th, 1998. Measurements of QOL, self-care, family support, self-esteem, and hope were used as the study tools. Data were analyzed with the SAS program by using t-test, ANOVA Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression. The results are as follows : 1) The score on the QOL scale ranged from 97 to 226 with a mean of 164.53($\pm$28.29). 2) The score of QOL on the general and ostomate-related characteristics showed significant differences according to monthly income, monthly participation in ostomate meetings, combined treatments after operation, types of evacuation management, problems of ostomy, help in caring for the ostomy, length of time since ostomate surgery, and presence or absence of readmission after discharge. 3) There were significant positive correlations between quality of life and other factors : self-esteem(r=0.7107, P<0.001), hope(r=0.6584, P<0.001) family support(r=0.6191, P<0.001), perception of health condition(r=0.6017, P<0.001), and self-care (r=0.2286, P<0.05). 4) The variables that affected the quality of life of the subjects were self-esteem, level of family support, perception of health condition, monthly participation in ostomate meetings, combined treatments after operation, monthly income, level of hope, and age in that order. The variance of quality of life was $R^2$=77.20 percent by calculating the sum of those variables. In conclusion, it is necessary for nursing intervention to promote self-esteem, family support, and hope in the care of ostomates in order to improve QOL.

A preliminary 27-item scale was developed through literature review, diary analysis, and FGI. A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,000consumers on internet using the preliminary scale. Then a series of tests, such as test-retest, item analysis, item-to-total correlation, Cronbach's reliability coefficient, and factor analysis, were conducted using the survey data. The final scale with21 items was constructed in the end. The Purchase Motivation Scale for Consumers consisted of five factors: (1) external motivation, (2) introjected motivation, (3) identified motivation I: self-respect, (4) identified motivation II: pursuit of harmony, and (5) internal motivation.

Data from 5th year(2014) Korean Children and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS) on 2035 nation-wide second year middle school students was analyzed by utilizing Regression analysis and path analysis. Results of the analysis showed first, parents' neglect had a negative effect on adolescents' self-identity, life satisfaction, and school adjustment. Second, adolescents' school adjustment improved with their self-identity and life satisfaction included as mediating effects. Third, the effect of parents' neglect on adolescents' school adjustment was partly mediated by the effects of subject's self-identity and life satisfaction. Furthermore, the need for program development to enhance adolescents' self-identity, life satisfaction and school adjustment was suggested.

  • A deeper understanding of how organizations behave as social complex adaptive systems is needed. In this paper we demonstrate how the Leadership Invigorating Flows of Energies model can help with this understanding. The model highlights the role of emergent leadership as a force encouraging the creation, diffusion, and utilization of knowledge through self-organizing mechanisms. We illustrate our approach by examining Wikipedia and show how it can be described as a social CAS. Our analysis of Wikipedia describes how emerging intrapreneurship behaviors result in dynamic flows of knowledge and self-organizing feedback mechanisms across the organization. We provide implications for organization studies and present evidence to support claims made by advocates of complexity theory. We conclude by proposing that Wikipedia can be seen as a new form of organization, and finish with a brief note highlighting a possible way forward.

  • This study was conducted to verify the factors affecting self-esteem of the 50-69 aged with low income in single person households. The subjects were 233 single households in the 50-69 aged low income from the 2019 welfare panel data provided by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The dependent variable was defined as self-esteem, and independent variables were relationship satisfaction and life satisfaction. Data analysis was carried out by using SEM analysis, As a result, relationship satisfaction did not have a direct effect on self-esteem, with a low value (path coefficient =0.24). However, relationship satisfaction positively influenced life satisfaction (path coefficient =0.71), and life satisfaction positively influenced the self-esteem (path coefficient =0.46). Thus life satisfaction between relationship satisfaction and self-esteem had a mediator effect on self-esteem with 0.32 value. Therefore, establishing the strategy which supports poor single person households, policy makers should consider methods improving relationship satisfaction and life satisfaction.
