Conjugated Linoleic Acid in Rumen Fluid and Milk Fat, and Methane Emission of Lactating Goats Fed a Soybean Oil-based Diet Supplemented with Sodium Bicarbonate and Monensin

  • A metabolic study was conducted with four ruminally-cannulated lactating goats (Saanen, 29 weeks lactation, 65${\pm}$5 kg) in a 4${\times}$4 Latin square design with 4 dietary treatments. The goats were fed a basal mixed diet consisting of 80% concentrate and 20% chopped rye grass hay (DM basis, CON). The goats were also fed the CON diet supplemented with soybean oil at a 5% level of the concentrate (SO), the SO diet supplemented with 0.5% of sodium bicarbonate (SO-B) or the SO-B diet supplemented with 30 ppm monensin (SO-BM). The goats were housed in individual pen and the study was conducted for 8 weeks. An increased molar proportion of propionate (C3) was observed at 1 h (p<0.003) and 6 h (p<0.029) post-feeding from all the supplemented diets. Calculated methane emission was markedly decreased prior to morning feeding (p<0.01), and at 1 h (p<0.05) and 6 h post-feeding (p<0.05) in goats fed the supplemented diets. All the supplements increased (p<0.0001) cis9, trans11-CLA content in rumen fluid. Concentrations of both cis9, trans11-CLA (p<0.0001) and trans10, cis12-CLA (p<0.026) were also increased in the milk fat of lactating goats fed the supplemented diets. The SO-B and SO-BM diets further increased CLA content in goat milk compared to the SO diet. All supplements increased unsaturated (UFA, p<0.002), monounsaturated (MUFA, p<0.002) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (p<0.014) and reduced SFA to UFA ratio (p<0.023). The concentration of MUFA was even greater (p<0.002) for SO-BM than for the SO-B diet. In conclusion, feeding soybean oil (5% of concentrate) to lactating goats was a useful way to improve milk fat and to improve fatty acid profile in the milk by increasing potentially healthy fatty acids such as CLA. Supplementation of sodium bicarbonate or sodium bicarbonate with monensin to the soybean oil-based diet increased CLA content further in goat milk. Supplementation of soybean oil may be an effective method to reduce methane emission in lactating goats.

Use of Duckweed as a Protein Supplement for Breeding Ducks

  • An experiment was conducted at the experimental duck farm of Cantho University to determine the effects of feeding duckweed (Lemna minor) that replaced commercial protein supplements in diets for local and Cherry Valley breeding ducks. The experiment included a total of 180 ducks, with five treatments and three replicates and six breeding ducks (one male plus five females together) per replicate, for both local and exotic Cherry Valley ducks. The five diets were fed ad libitum and were based on rice byproducts supplemented with roasted soya bean meal plus dried fishmeal at levels of 100% (SF100, control), 75 (SF75), 50 (SF50), 25 (SF25) or zero (SF0) % of the protein in the control diet, corresponding to 18, 15, 13, 10 and 8% CP in the diets for both breeds, respectively. Fresh duckweed was supplied ad libitum for all treatments. These diets were fed to local breeding ducks from 7 to 12 months of age, and to exotic breeding ducks (Cherry Valley) from 8 to 13 months of age. Total mean daily dry matter (DM) intakes were 183, 178, 176, 177 and 174 g (p<0.05) for the local ducks, and 221, 208, 215, 219 and 210 g (p<0.01) for the exotic ducks for the SF100 (control), SF75, SF50, SF25 and SF0 diets, respectively. Laying rates of the local ducks were 66.5, 65.2, 62.9, 63.1 and 62.3%, and of the Cherry Valley ducks 61.9, 58.4, 58.9, 59.1 and 53.5% (p<0.001) for the control (SF100), SF75, SF50, SF25 and SF0 treatments, respectively. Fertile egg rates were 95.6, 95.6, 97.8, 97.8 and 92.2%, and hatchabilities 89.4, 80.6, 87.2, 88.6 and 77.8% (p<0.05) for the local breed, and 97.8, 97.8, 91.1, 92.2 and 90.0% (p<0.05) and 72.8, 74.7, 75.0, 74.3 and 76.7% for the Cherry Valley ducks for diets SF100, SF75, SF50, SF25 and SF0, respectively. Corresponding feed conversion ratios (dry matter basis) were 3.83, 3.82, 3.89, 4.01 and 3.96 kg feed per kg egg mass for the local ducks and 4.52, 4.56, 4.58, 4.73 and 5.02 kg feed per kg egg mass for the Cherry Valley ducks for the SF100, SF75, SF50, SF25 and SF0 treatments, respectively. Replacement of 100% of the protein supplement by fresh duckweed in the diets of the local laying ducks decreased the feed costs by 25% compared to the control diet.

제경법에 의한 산지초지개량에 관한 연구 I. 초지조성시가 목초의 정착과 잔존 및 건물수량에 미치는 영향 (Studies on Hill Pasture Improvement by Hoof Cultivation I. Effect of sowing time on establishment, survival and dry matter yield of pasture species)

  • 본(本) 시험(試驗)은 제경법(蹄耕法)을 이용(利用)하여 산지초지(山地草地)를 조성(造成)할때 파종시기(播種時期)가 목초(牧草)의, 잔존(殘存), 건물생산(乾物生産) 및 이용률(利用率) 등에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위하여 $1982{\sim}'84$년에 걸쳐 고령지시험장에서 수행(遂行)되었으며 그 결과(結果)를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 목초(牧草)의 정착율(定着率)은 화본과의 경우 4월(月) 15일(日), 5월(月) 15일(日), 8월(月) 1일(日), 8월(月) 30일(日) 파종구에서 각각 11.1, 9.8, 12.4 및 3.1%를 나타내어 8월(月) 30일(日) 파종구(播種區)를 제외하면 10% 내외(內外)의 정착율을 나타내었으며, 한편 두과의 정착율은 춘파구(春播區)에서 30% 내외(內外)로 추파(秋播)에 비해 유의적인 차이가 있었다. 2 파종(播種) 2년차(年次)의 목초식생비율은 $66{\sim}80%$를 나타내었고 또 조성초기의 정착(定着) 및 잔존(殘存)의 차이에 관계없이 파종(播種) 3년차(年次)는 처리간(處理間)에 건물생산(乾物生産)에 차이가 없었다. 따라서 제경법(蹄耕法)에 의한 초지조성시(草地造成時) 적절한 시비(施肥) 및 관리방목(管理放牧)의 중요성이 인정되었다. 3. 파종(播種) 2년차(年次) 시험구(試驗區)의 사초이용율(飼草利用率)은 $45{\sim}53%$로 나타났다.

당뇨환자의 혈당관리 태도에 대한 요인분석(I) - 혈당관리 요소와 식생활 태도를 중심으로 - (A Factor Analysis Study on Blood Glucose Control in Diabetics Mellitus Patients(1) -Focus on Blood Glucose Control and Lifestyle Factors-)

  • Dietary therapy is a basic and emphasized treatment for diabetes. Several clinical studies have shown that diet can play a major role in preventing and managing diabetes. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the dietary behavior and to find solutions to barriers of diabetes mellitus patients. From February to July in 2007, questionnaires were distributed to one hundred and ten patients who were diagnosed DM by physicians and excluded first coming out-patients. One hundred and three data were used for statistical analysis using SPSS/Win 12.0. The main results of this study included the following: To measure dietary behaviors and barriers, a five point scale was used with the following labels: 'strongly yes', 'yes', 'fair', 'no', 'strongly no'. Thirteen dietary behaviors related to diabetes were grouped into the following 4 factors using factor analysis; 'taste control factor', 'blood glucose influence factor', 'practice volition factor', and 'exercise factor'. The mean scores of 4 factors were 3.88, 3.48, 3.55, 3.21, respectively. The 'taste control behaviors' score of subjects who had practiced diet therapy(4.00) was higher than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.05). The 'blood glucose influence behaviors' score of subjects who had nutrition education(3.59) was higher than those who had no nutrition education(P<0.05) and subjects who had practiced diet therapy showed higher score(3.59) than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.05). 'Exercise behaviors score' of subjects who were over 60(3.59) was the lowest(P<0.05). Subjects who had nutrition education showed higher 'exercise behaviors' scores(3.38) than those who had no nutrition education(P<0.05). Subjects who had practiced diet therapy showed higher 'practice volition behaviors' scores(3.72) than those who had not practiced diet therapy(P<0.001). Subjects who were over weight showed the highest 'practice volition behaviors' scores(3.78) concerning BMI(P<0.05). In conclusion, this study expected that Nutrition educators(Dietitian) applied to patient effective nutrition education and counseling through evaluation of Dietary behaviors and barriers considered management types and ecological factors of diabetes patients. Also diabetic patients were easy to change dietary habits because they formed behaviors through education and counsel and there were positive effects in their blood glucose control through removing barriers related to dietary therapy.

연령에 따른 음주자 우울의 융합적 영향요인 (Convergent Factors Affecting Depression of Drinkers by Age)

  • 본 연구는 음주자의 우울증에 영향을 미치는 융합적 요인을 연령별로 분석하고자 시행되었다. 본 연구는 2014년과 2016년에 실시된 국민건강영양조사에서 얻은 데이터를 이용한 횡단적 2차 데이터분석연구이다. 본 연구 대상자는 중년 음주자 4,446명으로 일반적 특성, 신체적 및 정신적 요인과 관련된 변수를 분석하였다. IBM SPSS 23.0 프로그램을 사용하여 샘플링 계획 복합 파일을 작성한 후 가중치를 부여한 후 분석하였다. 우울은 성별(30대, 50-60대), 소득(30-40대, 60대), 교육(30-40대), 가족 수(30-60대), 직업(30-60대), 식사 수준(30-40대, 60대), 고혈압(40대), 당뇨(30-40대), BMI(30-40대), 흡연(30대, 50대), 운동(30대), 체중조절(60대), 폭음빈도(30-60대), 주관적 건강(30-60대), 주관적 체형인식(30-50대), 스트레스(30-60대), 삶의 질(30-60대)에 영향 받았다. 우울을 예방하기 위한 개입과 관리계획을 설계하여야 하며, 이러한 요소들을 종합적으로 고려해야 한다.

Meat Production Characteristics of Black Bengal Goat

  • Black Bengal goat is primarily reared for meat, skin comes here as a by-product. The present trial describes the effect of age on different carcass characteristics of Black Bengal goats of either sex. A total of 61 Black Bengal goats of different age and sex groups were slaughtered. They were reared under semi-intensive management on milk alone or with concentrates (of 10.14 MJ ME and 10.48 g M/kg DM) and freshly cut Napier grass (2 MJ ME and 25 g CP/kg of fresh matter) that provides the estimated NRC (1981) requirement. The four age groups were: pre-weaned kids (0-90 day), post-weaned kids (91-180 days), growing (181-365 days) and adult (>365 days). Goats were slaughtered according to 'Halal' method by severing the major vessels of the throat by a transverse cut. Different slaughter parameters of Black Bengal goat can be best predicted from the equations as follows: live weight (kg)=0.801 (shoulder height (cm))-24.32, ($r^{2}$=0.94); carcass weight (kg)=0.364 (height at hind legs (cm))-11.54, ($r^{2}$=0.91); edible weight (kg)=0.623 (shoulder height (cm))-19.94, ($r^{2}$=0.91) and saleable weight (kg)=0.701 (shoulder height (cm))-21.99, ($r^{2}$=0.92). Live weight, carcass weight, edible weight and saleable weight of castrated goat at one-year onward ranges from 20-22, 9.4-10.5, 14-16 and 16.6-18.8 kg, respectively, which are about 80% higher than most of the reported observations on Black Bengal goat of same age and sex. Slaughter weight, warm carcass weight, edible weight and saleable weight increased curvilinearly with age of slaughter but not affected (p>0.05) by sex. However, linearity of the response curve of affect of age on mentioned parameters ends at around 9 months. Visceral fat as per cent of live weight increased curvilinearly with age and attain its maximum (about 6%) at about 500 days. However, linear part of the quadratic model ends at about 300 days when visceral fat content is about 4.8% of body weight. Blood and skin yield for one-year old male goat was 797 g and 1.61 kg, respectively. Absolute yield of blood and skin increased curvilinealry and attained maximum level at about 400 days (13.3 months). Average proportion of different carcass cut were - round 27%, rump 7%, loin 10%, ribs (6-12th) 14%, shoulder 21%, Neck 7%, chest 14%. Thigh and shoulder constituted about 48.3% of the cold carcass weight. Overall crude protein content of meat samples of different carcass cuts progressively decreased with age starting from 57 at 0-90 days to 58, 47 and 33 per cent, respectively at 91-180, 181-365 and >365 days, respectively. Overall meat fat content increased almost linearly from 11.1% during 91-180 days to 22.9 and 39.5% during 181-365 and >365days, respectively. Results from this trial suggest that both carcass yield and carcass composition changes with age; and sex have little or no effect on carcass yield and carcass composition. However, caution should be made in using second conclusion as there were few female animals slaughtered relative to the male. Optimum slaughter age for Black Bengal goat reared under semi-intensive management with adequate feeding and management would be about 9 months when their live weight, warm carcass weight, edible and saleable weight of carcass can be about 16.74, 7.28, 12.05 and 13.81 kg, respectively.

경영형태별 산지 초지의 생산성 및 사료가치 비교 연구 (Comparative Study on the Productivity and Quality of Hilly Pasture by Management type)

  • 본 시험은 목장 경영형태에 따른 산지초지 조성시 생산성과 사료가치의 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 수행되었다. 시험에 이용된 초지는 강원도 평창군에 위치한 서울대학교 평창캠퍼스의 시험목장내에 2014년 9월 3일에 조사료 생산형(Forage production type, FP; 오차드그라스 18 + 톨페스큐 12 + 티머시 5 + 화이트클로버 5 kg/ha) 초지와 공공 목장형 (Public farm type, PF; 오차드그라스 12 + 톨페스큐 18 + 티머시 5 + 화이트클로버 5 kg/ha) 초지를 각각 0.5ha씩 조성을 하여 매년 4회 수확 또는 방목을 실시하였으며 파종된 목초의 생육특성, 수량 및 사료가치를 조사하였다. 초장은 화본과목초는 1차 수확시 가장 길었으며 두과목초는 2차 수확시에 가장 길었다. 건물함량은 매년 1차 수확시 가장 높았으며 2차 수확시 유의적으로 낮았다 (p<0.05). 그러나 2년차에서는 2차, 3차 및 4차 수확에 따른 차이는 없었다 (p>0.05). 식생변화에 있어서는 조성이후 시간이 경과함에 따라 두과목초의 비율이 점차 증가되는 경향을 보였으며 2차 및 3차 수확시 잡초와 나지의 비율이 높았지만 4차 수확시는 줄어들었다. 생초 수량은 1년차 전 수확시기에서 목장 형태별 유의성이 있었으나 2년차에서는 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 건물 수량도 생초수량과 같은 경향을 보였으며 전체적으로는 조사료 생산형 초지의 수량이 유의적으로 높게 나타났다 (p<0.05). 공공목장형 초지의 가축 섭취량은 1년차에서는 1,452 kg/ha 이었으나 2년차에는 1,743 kg/ha로 더 높았으며 방목이용율은 3차 방목시 가장 높게 나타났다. 경영형태별 초지의 사료가치는 큰 차이가 없었으나 수확시기 간에는 차이가 나타났다. 조단백질 함량은 1차 수확시 가장 낮았으며 TND 함량은 1차 수확시 가장 높았고 RFV 값은 4차 수확시 가장 높았다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 한국형 산지초지 조성을 위해서는 현장 상황에 맞는 초지의 조성이 중요하며 생산성에 있어서는 조사료 생산형 모델이 더 우수한 것으로 나타났으며 도출된 결과들은 향후 공공목장형 초지 이용을 위한 기초 자료로 제공되었으면 한다.

소아 고혈압의 평가와 관리 방법; 한국 소아심장 전문의와 소아신장 전문의 설문 (Evaluating and managing hypertension in children: a survey of Korean cardiologists and nephrologists)

  • 목 적 : 성인질환으로 여겨지던 고혈압이 소아에서도 최근 유병률이 증가 추세에 있다. 이에 한국에서 고혈압 환아의 평가 및 관리가 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 방 법 : 2006년 8월에서 10월까지 대한소아신장학회와 대한소아심장학회의 회원인 소아 전문의를 대상으로 소아 고혈압의 접근, 혈압 측정법, 혈압 조절 목표 및 약물 치료 등 에 대해서 설문을 하였다. 결 과 : 대부분의 소아 심장 전문의와 소아 신장 전문의는 아직까지 일반 소아 환자에게 일상적으로 혈압 측정을 하고 있지 않았으며 비만과 관련하여 체질량 지수 측정도 일상적으로 이루어지지 않았다. 혈압계는 주로 수은혈압계를 사용하고 있었으며 소아 신장 전문의보다 소아 심장 전문의에서 ABPM의 사용도가 높았다. 약물 치료 시 일차선택제로는 ACE 억제제가 가장 많이 이용되었으며 소아 심장 전문의 보다 소아 신장 전문의가 경우에 따라 다양한 약제를 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 혈압 조절 목표로는 나이, 성별, 키에 대한 95 백분위를 주로 사용하였으며 대부분의 응답자가 기저질환에 따라 다른 목표를 갖지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론 : 한국에서는 아직까지 소아 환자 진료 시에 고혈압에 대한 선별검사를 일상적으로 하고 있지는 않았다. 사용하는 혈압계나 일차 선택제는 큰 차이를 보이지는 않았지만 소아 신장 전문의와 소아 심장 전문의 간에 고혈압 치료제 선택에 있어 차이를 보였다. 좀 더 정확한 현황을 파악하기 위해서는 개원의를 포함한 광범위의 설문이 필요할 것이며 이를 토대로 우리 실정에 맞는 소아 고혈압의 접근과 치료에 관한 지침이 세워져야 할 것이다.

유통업 IMC 기획모델의 전략적 활용에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Strategic Use of an IMC Planning Model for the Distribution Industry)

  • 점점 치열해지는 유통업의 경쟁환경 속에서 유통업의 마케팅 효율성 제고를 위해 유통업 IMC 기획모델에 대한 연구와 이 모델의 전략적 활용에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 유통업 IMC 기획모델은 선행연구를 통해 IMC 목표수립, 상황분석(고객분석, 경쟁분석, 자사분석), 고객 데이터분석, 접촉관리, 예산수립, IMC 전략개발, IMC 믹스와 IMC 실행, 평가시스템, 피드백 단계로 구분하여 설정하였다. 유통업 IMC 기획모델의 전략적 활용을 위해서 연구모형을 설정하여 IMC 활동(광고, 판촉, DM, PR, 인적판매, 인터넷, 모바일, VMD, 구전)과 IMC 태도의 관계, IMC 태도와 브랜드 충성도의 관계, IMC 태도와 재구매 의도의 관계, 브랜드 충성도와 재구매 의도의 관계에 대한 가설 검증을 하였다. 가설 검증 결과 IMC 활동은 인터넷을 제외하고 IMC 태도에 유의한 영향을 미치고 그 유의 수준의 차이를 볼 때 IMC 믹스 전략 전개에 있어 체계적인 접근이 필요한 것을 알 수 있다. 또한 IMC 활동이 향후 유통기업의 마케팅 방향에 대한 주요한 변수임을 알 수 있다. 이는 브랜드 충성도와 재구매 의도 관계가 매우 유의한 결과로 나타난 점과 함께 고려해야 한다. 결론적으로 유통업의 IMC 수단들의 통합적이고 일관된 활동이 브랜드 충성도와 재구매 의도에 미치는 영향력이 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다.

Effects of Addition Level and Chemical Type of Propionate Precursors in Dicarboxylic Acid Pathway on Fermentation Characteristics and Methane Production by Rumen Microbes In vitro

  • Two in vitro experiments were conducted to examine the effects of propionate precursors in the dicarboxylic acid pathway on ruminal fermentatation characteristics, $CH_4$ production and degradation of feed by rumen microbes. Fumarate or malate as sodium salts (Exp. 1) or acid type (Exp. 2) were added to the culture solution (150 ml, 50% strained rumen fluid and 50% artificial saliva) to achieve final concentrations of 0, 8, 16 and 24 mM, and incubated anaerobically for 0, 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 h at $39^{\circ}C$. For both experiments, two grams of feed consisting of 70% concentrate and 30% ground alfalfa (DM basis) were prepared in a nylon bag, and were placed in a bottle containing the culture solution. Addition of fumarate or malate in both sodium salt and acid form increased (p<0.0001) pH of culture solution at 3, 6, 9 and 12 h incubations. The pH (p<0.0001) and total volatile fatty acids (VFA, p<0.05) were enhanced by these precursors as sodium salt at 3, 6 and 9 h incubations, and pH (p<0.001) and total VFA (p<0.01) from fumarate or malate in acid form were enhanced at a late stage of fermentation (9 h and 12 h) as the addition level increased. pH was higher (p<0.001) for fumarate than for malate as sodium salt at 3 h and 6 h incubations. Propionate ($C_3$) proportion was increased (p<0.0001) but those of $C_2$ (p<0.05) and $C_4$ (p<0.01 - p<0.001) were reduced by the addition of sodium salt precursors from 3 h to 12 incubation times while both precursors in acid form enhanced (p<0.011 - p<0.0001) proportion of $C_3$ from 6h but reduced (p<0.018 - p<0.0005) $C_4$ proportion at incubation times of 1, 3, 9 and 12 h. Proportion of $C_3$ was increased (p<0.05 - p<0.0001) at all incubation times by both precursors as sodium salt while that of $C_3$ was increased (p<0.001) from 6h but $C_4$ proportion was decreased by both precursors in acid form as the addition level increased. Proportion of $C_3$ was higher (p<0.01 - p<0.001) for fumarate than malate as sodium salt from 6 h incubation but was higher for malate than fumarate in acid form at 9 h (p<0.05) and 12 h (p<0.01) incubation times. Increased levels (16 and 24 mM) of fumarate or malate as sodium salt (p<0.017) and both precursors in acid form (p<0.028) increased the total gas production, but no differences were found between precursors in both chemical types. Propionate precursors in both chemical types clearly reduced (p<0.0001 - p<0.0002) $CH_4$ production, and the reduction (p<0.001 - p<0.0001) was dose dependent as the addition level of precursors increased. The $CH_4$ generated was smaller (p<0.01 - p<0.0001) for fumarate than for malate in both chemical types. Addition of fumarate or malate as sodium type reduced (p<0.004) dry matter degradation while both precursors in both chemical types slightly increased neutral detergent fiber degradability of feed in the nylon bag.
