Comparative Study of NIR-based Prediction Methods for Biomass Weight Loss Profiles

  • 바이오매스가 가진 재생 가능성과 환경적인 장점으로 인해 바이오매스는 바이오에너지와 다른 제품의 주요 원료가 되었다. 바이오매스의 중요 성질을 예측하기 위해 분광학 데이터를 이용하는 연구를 포함한 많은 연구가 수행되었는데 근적외선 분광학은 빠르고 신뢰성 있는 결과를 저비용으로 제공하는 비파괴 방법이기 때문에 널리 사용되었다. 이 연구에서는 서로 다른 여섯가지의 목질계 바이오매스의 근적외선 스펙트럼 데이터를 기반으로 질량 손실 프로파일을 예측하는 다변량 통계기법을 개발하였으며, 상관없는 잡음을 제거하고 근적외선 데이터를 잘 설명하는 파장대역을 선택하기 위해 웨이블릿 분석이 사용되었다. 실제 근적외선 데이터를 가지고 개발된 방법을 예시하였는데 이 때 여러가지 예측모델이 예측 성능을 기준으로 평가되었고 적절한 근적외선 스펙트럼 전처리법의 장점 또한 설명되었다. 웨이블릿으로 압축된 근적외선 스펙트럼을 이용한 부분최소자승법 예측모델이 가장 좋은 성능을 보였으며 개발된 방법은 바이오매스의 빠른 분석에 쉽게 적용될 수 있음 또한 증명되었다.

Dissolved Organic Matters Characteristics in Freshwater

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of dissolved orgamc matters based on their origins. The dissolved organic carbon(DOC) represents an index for dissolved organic matter and basically regarded as a source of organic pollution. The monthly variations and vertical profiles of dissolved organic carbon(DOC) in Kumoh reservoir were surveyed from May 2001 to April 2002. In addition, other areas such as river, reservoir, sewage and industrial wastewater were also surveyed in summer 2001. Kumoh reservoir was divided with depth into three layers .: epilimnion, metalimnion and hypolimnion. The proportion of total DOC(T-DOC) was classified by labile DOC(L-DOC) and refractory DOC(R-DOC) on the basis of long-term incubation. DOC of freshwater and Kumoh reservoir was ranged to be 1.6~4.1 mgC/L and 2.1~4.0 mgC/L, respectively. L-DOC accounted for 3~30% of DOC from watershed. Therefore, refractory dissolved organic carbon(R-DOC) was major component of DOC in the watershed. The decomposition rate(k) ranged from 0.008 $d^{-1}$ to 0.083 $d^{-1}$ in Kumoh reservoir. The highest decomposition rate(k) was observed at River Hoein III freshwater. Therefore, modified total organic carbon analyzer is needed to be applied for effective management of dissolved organic matter.

항공기 주기환경이 대기부식위험도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Aircraft Parking Environment on Atmospheric Corrosion Severity)

  • Atmospheric corrosion severity associated with aircraft parking environment was studied using metallic specimens, and temperature and humidity sensors installed at each aircraft operating base. Data were analyzed after a year of exposure. Silver was used to measure chloride deposition by integrating X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy depth profiles. Carbon steel was utilized to determine the corrosion rate by measuring the weight loss. The time of wetness was determined using temperature and humidity sensor data. Analysis of variance followed by Tukey's "honestly significant difference" test indicated that atmospheric environment inside the shelter varied significantly from that of unsheltered parking environment. The corrosion rate of unsheltered area also varies with the roof. Hierarchical clustering analysis of the measured data was used to classify air bases into groups with similar atmospheric corrosion. Bases where aircraft park at a shelter can be grouped together regardless of geographical location. Unsheltered bases located inland can also be grouped together with sheltered bases as long as the aircraft are parked under the roof. Environmental severity index was estimated using collected data and validated using the measured corrosion rate.

Discovery of 14-3-3 zeta as a potential biomarker for cardiac hypertrophy

  • Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a multifaceted syndrome influenced by the functions of various extrinsic and intrinsic pathways and pathological processes, which can be detected in circulation using biomarkers. In this study, we investigated the secretome protein profile of induced-hypertrophy cardiomyocytes to identify next-generation biomarkers for AMI diagnosis and management. Hypertrophy was successfully induced in immortalized human cardiomyocytes (T0445) by 200 nM ET-1 and 1 μM Ang II. The protein profiles of hypertrophied cardiomyocyte secretomes were analyzed by nano-liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry and differentially expressed proteins that have been identified by Ingenuity Pathway Analysis. The levels of 32 proteins increased significantly (>1.4 fold), whereas 17 proteins (<0.5 fold) showed a rapid decrease in expression. Proteomic analysis showed significant upregulation of six 14-3-3 protein isoforms in hypertrophied cardiomyocytes compared to those in control cells. Multi-reaction monitoring results of human plasma samples showed that 14-3-3 protein-zeta levels were significantly elevated in patients with AMI compared to those of healthy controls. These findings elucidated the role of 14-3-3 protein-zeta in cardiac hypertrophy and cardiovascular disorders and demonstrated its potential as a novel biomarker and therapeutic strategy.

무선 센서네트워크 기반 차량속도 측정 시스템 (Vehicle Speed Measurement System based on Wireless Sensor Network)

  • The architecture of WSN based Vehicle Speed Measurement System is presented in this paper from Telematics Sensor Network(TSN) to Management System. To verify the feasibility of the system, we implemented the vehicle speed measurement system and evaluated the accuracy of velocity measured by the system in our testbed, an old highway located near Kyungbu highway. The system performed over 95% of accuracy at 80kmph from the measurement. In addition, the battery life time of the sensor node was evaluated by simulation analysis with real measured current consumption profiles. Assuming the maximum average daily traffic in 2005, the battery life time is expected to be over 1.6 year from the simulation result.

  • 최근 차세대 이동통신 서비스에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히 차세대 이동통신 서비스가 기존 서비스와 다른 가장 큰 특징 중 하나는 사용자 개개인에 특화된 개인화 서비스 제공이라는 점이다. 이러한 개인화 서비스는 사용자의 현재 상황 및 선호도 등의 정보를 이용하여 서비스를 사용자에게 적응화시켜 제공하기 때문에 사용자 프로파일에 대한 관리기술이 매우 중요한 연구 주제로 부각되고 있다. 하지만 기존 사용자 프로파일 관리 기술은 단순히 사용자 관리라는 측면에서만 이루어졌기 때문에 개인화 서비스를 지원하기에는 역부족이다. 특히 서비스 제공업체 별로 분산 관리되는 사용자 프로파일은 차세대 이동통신 서비스를 지원하는데 많은 어려운 점이 예상된다. 따라서 개인화 서비스를 효과적으로 지원하고 통합적으로 프로파일을 관리할 수 있는 새로운 프로파일 관리 기술이 요구된다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 프로파일을 통합 관리할 수 있는 프로파일 서비스 제공자 시스템을 제안하고, 개인화 서비스를 지원하기 위한 프로파일 관리 기술의 요구사항을 제안한다.

A Post-Analysis of Decision Tree to Detect the Change of Customer Behavior on Internet Shopping Mall

  • Understanding and adapting to changes of customer behavior in internet shopping mall is an important aspect to survive in continuously changing environment. This paper develops a methodology based on decision tree algorithms to detect changes of customer behavior automatically from customer profiles and sales data at different time snapshots. We first define three types of changes as emerging pattern, unexpected change and the added/perished rule. Then, it is developed similarity and difference measures for rule matching to detect all types of change. Finally, the degree of change is developed to evaluate the amount of change. A Korean internet shopping mall case is evaluated to represent the performance of our methodology. And practical business implications for this methodology are also provided.

Generation of Sesame Flavor by the Thermal Reaction Technique

  • In this study we investigated the volatile compounds that are generated in sesame and contribute to its characteristic flavor. Different reaction systems were used to examine how certain amino acids influenced flavor profiles, and also to evaluate the effects of sugar types on the distribution of those volatile compounds. The volatiles that were generated in each reaction system were selectively isolated and analyzed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, respectively. Among the 20 identified compounds, nitrogen-containing alkylpyrazines were found to be the predominant volatiles. The alkylpyrazine amounts varied across the different model systems, with the total yield being highest in the arginine reaction mixture, followed by the alanine, serine, and lysine mixtures. In general, fructose generated the most extensive amount of volatiles compared to glucose and sucrose. However, the yield of specific flavor compounds varied according to the type of sugar used. Finally, the results clearly showed that a reaction temperature of $135^{\circ}C$ and a reaction time of 20 min generated the highest amount of volatile compounds.

A Database System for High-Throughput Transposon Display Analyses of Rice

  • We developed a database system to enable efficient and high-throughput transposon analyses in rice. We grow large-scale mutant series of rice by taking advantage of an active MITE transposon mPing, and apply the transposon display method to them to study correlation between genotypes and phenotypes. But the analytical phase, in which we find mutation spots from waveform data called fragment profiles, involves several problems from a viewpoint of labor amount, data management, and reliability of the result. As a solution, our database system manages all the analytical data throughout the experiments, and provides several functions and well designed web interfaces to perform overall analyses reliably and efficiently.

전기자동차 시스템 모델링 및 주행 환경에 따른 배터리 응답 특성 연구 (Battery Response Characteristics According to System Modeling and Driving Environment of Electric Vehicles)

  • Currently, various researches on electric vehicle battery systems have been conducted from the viewpoint of safety and performance for SoC, SoH, etc. However, it is difficult to build a precise electrical model of a battery system based on the chemical reaction and SoC prediction. Experimental measurements and predictions of the battery SoC were usually performed using dynamometers. In this paper, we construct a simulation model of an electric vehicle system using Matlab Simulink, and confirm the response characteristics based on the vehicle test driving profiles. In addition, we show that it is possible to derive the correlation between the SoC, voltage, and current of the battery according to the driving time of the electric vehicle in conjunction with the BMS model.
