  • This paper introduces Policy Management Tool which was implemented based on Policy Information Model in network suity system. Network security system consists of policy terror managing and sending policies to keep a specific domain from attackers and policy clients detecting and responding intrusion by using policies that policy server sends. Policies exchanged between policy server and policy client are saved in database in the form of directory through LDAP by using Policy Management Tool based on network security policy information model. NSPIM is an extended policy information model of IETF's PCIM and PCIMe, which enables network administrator to describe network security policies. Policy Management Tool based on NSPIM provides not only policy management function but also editing function using reusable object, automatic generation function of object name and blocking policy, and other convenient functions to user.

  • In 1987, The Brundtland Report defined a sustainable development as the development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This is the concept that we should cling to, to preserve natural resources of the present for the future generation. With this concept in mind, this paper criticized the current waste management policy has been neglecting resource preservation aspect of waste management policy while giving too much emphasis on reducing waste generation. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to analyze how waste management policy can affect preservation of natural resources, and to investigate policy alternatives that can reduce both the volume of wast geverated and the amount of natural resources that need to be consumed in the production process. The study was conducted based on the literature survey and system dynamics simulation. Borrowing Randers and Meadows's solid waste model with some modification of parameter and variables, this paper simulate several policy alternatives to figure out the most effective waste management policy set that can meet the need of the present without compromising the ability of the future generation to meet their own needs. Main concern was how to link waste management policy with resource management policy that can lead to minimization of waste generation and resource consumption.

  • Objectives: To investigate the patterns of unintentional home injuries in Korea. Methods: The study population was 12,382,088 people who utilized National Health Insurance services due to injuries (main diagnosis codes S00 to T28) during 2006. Stratified samples(n=459,501) were randomly selected by sex, age group and severity of injury. A questionnaire was developed based on the International Classification of External Causes of Injury and 18,000 cases surveyed by telephone were analyzed after being projected into population proportionately according to the response rates of their strata. Domestic injury cases were finally included. Results: Domestic injuries (n=3,804) comprised 21.1% of total daily life injuries during 2006. Women were vulnerable to home injuries, with the elderly and those of lower income (medical-aid users) tending to suffer more severe injuries. Injury occurred most often due to a slipping fall (33.9%), overexertion (15.3%), falling (9.5%) and stumbling (9.4%), with severe injury most often resulting from slipping falls, falls and stumbles. Increasing age correlated with domestic injury-related disability. Conclusions: The present findings provide basic information for development of home injury prevention strategies, with focus on the elderly.

  • This study analyses the policy for archives and records management in Korea into methods in the field of policy science. As a result, various problems have been examined in relation to carrying out the laws and regulations of archives and records management of all public agencies in Korea. Based upon various analyses of these problems, this study derives some effective strategies on the development in the policy taken the view of establishing the appropriateness between goals and measures of me policy, promoting mutual relationship among participants of the policy, putting in order the system for archives and records management, and improving circumstances of the policy for archives and records management in Korea.

  • In this paper we have proposed policy-based network management system architecture for Internet QoS support Mobile IP networks that is divided into four layers(application layer, information management layer, policy control layer, device layer), then we propose an implementation strategy of policy-based network management system to enforce various control and network management operations and a model of policy server using SCOPS(Simple Common Open Policy Service) protocol that is developed in this research. For policy-based mobile IP network management system implementation, we have derived four policy classes(access control, mobile IP operation, QoS control, and network monitoring) and we showed operation procedures for each policy scenarios. Finally we have implemented Internet QoS support policy-based mobile IP network testbed and management system and verified out DiffServ policy enforcement behaviors for a target class service that is arranged a specific bandwidth on network congestion conditions.

  • Objectives : This study examined the health policy researchers' needs and their accessibility towards health insurance claim datasets according to their academic capacity. Methods : An online questionnaire to capture relevant proxy variables for academic needs, accessibility, and research capacity was constructed based on previous studies. The survey was delivered to active health policy researchers through three major scholarly associations in South Korea. Seven-hundred and one scholars responded while the survey as open for 12 days (starting on December 20th, 2010). Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis were carried out. Results : Regardless of the definition for operational needs, the prevalent needs of survey respondents were not met with the current provision of claim data. Greater research capacity was shown to be correlated with increased demand for claim data along with a positive correlation between attempts to obtain claim datasets and research capacity. A greater research capacity, however, was not necessarily correlated with better accessibility to the claim data. Conclusions : The substantial unmet need for claim data among the healthcare policy research community calls for establishing proactive institutions which could systematically prepare and make available public datasets and provide call-in services to facilitate proper handling of data.
