Quantity Surveyors' Perception of Cost Impact Factors in Hong Kong Civil Engineering Projects

  • Project cost is an important concern in any construction project. Although there has been a lot of studies on factors affecting the cost of construction projects, there seems no consensus as what cost factors have direct influence on the cost of civil engineering projects. This study therefore aims to bridge the current knowledge gap by examining quantity surveyors' perception of the factor structure among nineteen costing attributes identified based on literature review. Questionnaire was used to elicit responses from quantity surveyors working in the Hong Kong construction industry. Principal component analysis is conducted to extract the factor structure of the cost attributes and the attributes are grouped into three factor components, namely the contract management factor, the project management factor and the monetary value factor. Understanding these cost impact factors could be crucial in managing civil engineering projects, since it allows the project stakeholders and quantity surveyors to take precautionary steps to identify the cost management problems and areas for improvement and could even help to avoid cost deviations in engineering projects.

IT거버넌스의 영향요인 분석: ITA/EA 기능 중심 (An Analysis for Influence Factors for IT Governance: Focusing on ITA/EA Functions)

  • In this paper, the function factors contributing to ITA/EA functions in their organizations, are suggested. Also the reasons to the construction of IT governance system and their effects on the their organizations are discussed and the relationships are verified by empirical model. From the survey, the data of the 227 respondents were collected and regression analysis was performed for validating the research model. ITA/EA functions consist of the IT infrastructure systemization, ITA/EA business process support, IT investment efficiency factors. And the factors of IT resource and performance management, IT process management, IT service management are included to IT governance. The main analysis results described significantly are shows as follows. At first, IT resource and performance management factor is effected by the ITA/EA business process support factor and IT investment efficiency factor. In similarly, IT service management factor is also affected by the factors such as ITA/EA business process support, IT investment efficiency, and IT infrastructure systemization. In additional analysis, IT investment efficiency factor in official sectors, ITA/EA business process support factor in private sectors respectively are described as the significant factors on the IT governance.

도시 취업주부의 가계재무관리행동과 경제복지감 (A Study of Urban Employed Wives무 Family Financial Management and Economic Well-Being)

  • The family financial management is the important element which has a effect on the improvement of family economic well-being. Thus the study sets up human & material resources and requirement as an input factor, family financial management as an throughput factor, and economic well-being as an output factor, and then identifies if there are some relationships among them by using a systematic approach of family financial management. The questionaires were distributed to 600 employed wives by carrying out cluster sampling and disproportional stratified sampling. The 573 cases of them were used as the mean, ratio, Pearson’s Correration, ANOVA, factors analysis, and Stepwise Regression using the SAS/PC+. The major findings of the study are as follows: 1) A practical application of information as on input variable, appears the fator which has an important effect upon the throughput factor, that is, family financial management. The employed wives should manage a lot of resources in rapidly changing social-economic circustances. So it shows that not only they should take informations open to their daily life and then make practical use of them in managing their family finance, but also they must be capable of judging and accepting reasonable informations in order to gain and manage resources suitable to the characteristics of family finance and family members’need. 2) There was significant relationship between the employed wives’family financial management and family economic well-being, focused on the systematic theory of family financial management. This study provides for the information to develope the program for the employed wives’family financial planning and counseling.

재래시장의 CRM시스템 구축을 위한 주요요인 분석 (Factor Analysis for Implementation of Traditional Retail Market's Customer Relationship Management System)

  • 재래시장 활성화를 위한 고객연계관리시스템의 필요성을 제기하고, 성공적인 고객연계관리시스템의 구축을 위해 필요한 주요요인을 분석하였다. 측정변수 22개를 통해 요인분석을 실시한 결과 경영관리, 고객관리, 서비스관리, 시설관리 등 4개 요인이 도출되었다. 각 요인의 특징은 다음과 같다. 경영관리요인은 상품 기획 및 인증관리 활동이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 고객관리요인은 고객을 우대할 수 있는 정책이 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 서비스관리요인은 주문, 배달, 반품서비스까지 토털서비스의 필요성이 제기되었다. 마지막으로 시설관리요인은 고객이 재래시장을 활용하기 위해 편리성을 제공할 수 있는 시설의 개선이 요구되었다.

외식업체 종사원의 서비스 지향성 요인에 관한 차이 분석 (An Analysis of the Differences in Foodservice Industry Employees Service Orientation Factor)

  • A review of literature relating to the research topic and a survey method have been implemented in order to analyze effects of service orientation. For data analysis, a reliability analysis was performed to test the reliability of the construct and a series of an exploratory factor analysis was used for the validity test. The findings of the study were as follows: Classified into sex, service leadership factor and service skill factor showed meaningful difference between groups. Classified with age, service training factor, service leadership factor, service standardization factor, service technology factor, and service compensation factor showed meaningful difference between groups. Classified with scholarship, service compensation factor showed meaningful difference. Classified into working year, employees' discretion factor showed meaningful difference. Classified into work department, service training factor and employees' right factor showed meaningful difference. In addition, classified into monthly average incomes, employees' discretion factor showed meaningful difference.

분산 제어와 OPC를 갖는 광전송 링크를 이용한 WDM 신호의 Q-factor 개선 (Q-factor Improvements of WDM Signals using Optical Transmission Link with Dispersion Management and OPC)

  • 채널 전송률이 40 Gbps인 WDM 채널들의 성능을 개선시키는 새로운 광전송 링크 기술을 제안하였다. 제안된 광전송 링크는 전체 전송로 중간에 광 위상 공액기 (optical phase conjugator)를 두고 전송로에서 축적된 분산은 분산 제어 (DM; dispersion management)을 통해 보상하는 구조이다. DM이 OPC와 결합하면 DM을 통해 전송 링크 전체에서 축적된 분산량을 줄여줌과 동시에 OPC에 의한 비선형성 보상의 정도를 더욱 좋게 하여 결과적으로 모든 채널들의 Q-factor가 크게 개선되는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 모든 WDM 채널들의 Q-factor 개선은 광전송 링크의 전체 잉여 분산 (NRD; net residual dispersion)에 크게 의존한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

햄버거 체인점의 관리실태와 종업원 직무만족과의 관계 (Relationship Between Management Practices of Hamburger Chain Restaurants and Job Satisfaction of Restaurant Employees)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management practices and to measure the degree of job satisfaction of employees of hamburger chain restaurants in Seoul. Management practices were evaluated in terms of service, quality, cleanliness and shift management in 30 hamburger restaurants of 3 domestic and 3 foreign chain brands. Employee job satisfaction was measured by using questionnaires of Job Descriptive Index. 200 employees from the same 30 restaurants were participated in the survey. Results were analyzed by using SAS program in terms of t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation. The results are as follows: 1. The factor of quality got the highest score and cleanliness the second, service the third, and shift management got the lowest score in the evaluation of management practiecs of hamburger chain restaurant. The foreign brands showed significantly higher scores than the domestic ones in every measured factors. 2. The factor of coworkers got the highest score and then supervision, the work-itself, promotion and pay got the next highest scores in descending order in measured Job satisfaction. The foreign brands showed significantly higher scores than domestic ones in JDI. 3. The foodservice employees rated work-itself was considered by employees the most important job satisfaction factor, and the next important factor was pay and then coworkers, supervision, and promotion. 4. The significant positive relationship between management practice factor of shift management and all the factors of job satisfaction except the factor of pay were found.

Awareness of Adulterated Food and Its Management Beliefs and Capabilities among Teenagers' Parents

  • Food adulteration and food fraud should not be neglected. The present study aimed to investigate the awareness of adulterated food and its management beliefs and capabilities among teenagers' parents. Data were collected from 425 adolescents' parents having different levels of income and education. The results of factor analysis indicated that adulterated food management beliefs was classified into attitude, necessity, and anxiety. The adulterated food management capability was sub-grouped into hygiene and nutrition, knowledge, citizen action and environmental grasp. The adulterated food management capabilities were significantly different according child's school, education level and monthly income (p<0.05). The attitude factor of adulterated food management beliefs appeared to have a significant (p<0.05) impact on all factors of adulterated food management capabilities, however the necessity factor had a significant (p<0.001) impact only on factor of hygiene and nutrition. The results of the present study suggested that parents need to be aware themselves as well as to teach their children about right food selection and consumption. The findings of the study might be useful in government policy planning regarding the public health issues and dietary education of adolescents and parents.

청주시 지하수의 인자분석 (An Factor Analysis of Groundwater in Chongju City)

  • A spring water quality was depend on the aquifer soil status. However, water quality was rapidly contaminated by artificial affects. In the contaminate components, the heavy metals were significantly important because the heavy metals influence the plants and the animals. But, it is difficult to find out how the heavy metal can affect in the water quality. According to the group analysis and the factor analysis, water quality management was advanced. The experimental area was divided into three region and six factor. The six factor could not define the overall water quality, however this method were one of the useful methods.
