A new interactive multiobjective decision making technique, which is called the fuzzy sequential proxy optimization technique, has been proposed. This technique is the revised version the sequential proxy optimization technique that the decision-maker's marginal rates of substitution is interpreted as type of L-R fuzzy numbers. It used to the square of normalized scalar product as the doptimalilry condition. However, this technique ignores the imprecise nature of a decision-maker's judgement of marginal rates of substitution. Also, it have a shortcoming that can be only applied over three objective functions. In this paper, considering the imprecise nature of a decision-maker's judgement, we presents an interactive fuzzy decision-making method on the basis of the decision-maker's MRS presented through the use of five types of membership functions including non-linear functions. FORTRAN programs that run in conversational mode are developed to implement man-machine interactive procedure.
Presently, Analytic Network Process which evaluates man's intention and offers decision-making support is capturing the spotlight. It originates in the ability of Analytic Network Process to treat various decision-making support system. However, no detailed reference is available when dealing with the group case. This paper examines the technique, which can also cope with the group decision-making support system, and describes the validity of the technique. A characteristic feature of the proposed technique is that it can detect a group's intention in a given section, and it decomposes the sectional supermatrix into a small supermatrix and a large one. A general supermatrix treats the convergence value by taking the limiting process method of the power of an evaluation value. On the other hand, when a supermatrix has nonnegative value, it can easily be solved by the eigenvector method. The decomposition of the supermatrix has been considered in this work.
Making practical use of urban MAGLEV system which is tried by government includes technique development and railway construction. Because huge amount of money will be spent on this project, feasibility study is being carried out in order to check the feasibility and to devise the master plan in prior to making practical use of urban MAGLEV system. The key issues of feasibility study are possibility of technique development, economical feasibility, location of a model railway and the improvement of related laws and regulations. This paper shows the approach to solve these key issues.
Recently, multiple criteria decision making has been well established as a practical approach to seek a satisfactory solution to a decision making problem. Goal programming is one of the most powerful MCDM tools with satisfying operational assumptions that reflect the actual decision making process in real-world situations. In this paper we propose an efficient method implemented on a microcomputer for solving linear goal programming problems. It is an iterative revised goal simplex method using the sparsity technique. We design as interactive software package for microcomputers based on this method. From some computational experiences, we can state that the revised iterative goal simplex method using the sparsity technique is the most efficient one for microcomputer for solving goal programming problems.
The object of this study is to develop a reliable FEM simulation technique for the analysis of can making process using PAM-STAMP software. The processes consist of doming and necking in addition to drawing, redrawing. After body making process, this study analyzed the stability for internal pressure by simulating buckling test. Through these technique, we estimated the dome reversal pressure of steel D&I Can for various can profile and process conditions. From this study, we found the cause and mechanism of wrinkling during necking process. This mechanism is largely affected by can wall thickness and the clearance between knock out punch and necking die. The dome reversal pressure improves with increasing dome depth. These results validate the usefulness of the developed simulation technique for the analysis of body making process and optimization of the dome profile.

Dealing with uncertainty is always a challenging problem. Intuitionistic fuzzy sets was presented to manage situations in which experts have some membership and non-membership value to assess an alternative. Hesitant fuzzy sets was used to handle such situations in which experts hesitate between several possible membership values to assess an alternative. In this paper, the concept of intuitionistic hesitant fuzzy set is introduced to provide computational basis to manage the situations in which experts assess an alternative in possible membership values and non-membership values. Distance measure is defined between any two intuitionistic hesitant fuzzy elements. Fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution is developed for intuitionistic hesitant fuzzy set to solve multi-criteria decision making problem in group decision environment. An example is given to illustrate this technique.
Nowadays, several welding processes are generally used to join parts together, and the materials are generally steel, aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and other difficult-to-weld materials. If a proper welding process is chosen, it is helpful for welding parts. However, there is no desirable technique for appropriately deciding on the welding process in the industry. Therefore, an appropriate method of selecting a welding process is needed for the novice worker in the industry. In this sense, a new analytic network process (ANP) technique is used for effective decision making in welding. By considering several criteria in ANP, a selection method is suggested to decide on the proper welding process. In the study, several criteria were considered for the proper welding of parts. By considering a matrix of prior interdependence effects among various welding processes, a decision-making method based on an ANP is accomplished using a weighting matrix, which is supposed to select an appropriate welding process. In addition, for appropriate decision criteria of the welding process, several factors, such as material, shape, precision, economics, and equipment, are used to accomplish the ANP algorithm. Moreover, the final weighting matrix is calculated following its ANP strategy. Furthermore, this decision-making technique is applied to both stainless razor spot joining and thick steel pipe joining. The results show its reliability and practicality, and the novice engineer and manager can use this technique to determine the best welding process.
The decision-making process is the act of finding the best solution among various alternatives through comparison between various criteria based on objectives of the project, evaluation standard, and conditions. However, in practice it is not easy to simply decide the optimum decision, especially for selecting malfunctioning reservoirs because no systematic evaluation criteria or standard assessment process are available. Therefore, this study adopted AHP method, which is a MCDM (multi-criteria decision making technique) to identify the malfunctioning reservoirs for efficient management of reservoirs. Important criteria of the selection of malfunctioning reservoirs and priority weights of each criteria were determined based on results of expert's survey under a stepwise hierarchical approach. The most important factor for the decision of malfunctioning reservoirs was obtained as Reservoir efficiency among the selected criteria including Reservoir efficiency decrease, Disaster Risk, Reservoir efficiency, Available water storage, Future water demand, Resident Needs. The AHP technique was applied on 11 reservoirs in Andong region to verify its applicability. Scoring method was applied for the comparison with the results of AHP method.
This paper studies a method for making more efficient classification rules in the ID3 using the rough set theory. Decision tree technique of the ID3 always uses all the attributes in a table of examples for making a new decision tree, but rough set technique can in advance eleminate dispensable attributes. And the former generates only one type of classification rules, but the latter generates all the possibles types of them. The rules generated by the rough set technique are the simplist from as proved by the rough set theory. Therefore, ID3, applying the rough set technique, can reduct the size of the table of examples, generate the simplist form of the classification rules, and also implement an effectie classification system.
The growing demand for the real time traffic information is bringing about the category and number of traffic collection mechanism in the era of ITS. There are, however, two problems in making data into information using various traffic data. First, the information making process of making data into the representative information, for each traffic collection mechanism, for the specified analysis periods is required. Second, the integration process of fusing each representative information into "the information" for each link out of each source is also required. That is, both data reduction and/or data to information process and information fusion are required. This article is focusing on the development of information fusing algorithm based on voting technique, fuzzy regression, and, Bayesian pooling technique for estimating the dynamic link travel time of networks. The proposed algorithm has been validated using the field experiment data out of GPS probes and detectors over the roadways and the estimated link travel time from the algorithm is proved to be more useful than the mere arithmetic mean from each traffic source.
