Full-scale test of dampers for stay cable vibration mitigation and improvement measures

  • This paper reported test of full-scale cables attached with four types of dampers: viscous damper, passive Magneto-Rheological (MR) damper, friction damper and High Damping Rubber (HDR) damper. The logarithmic decrements of the cable with attached dampers were calculated from free vibration time history. The efficiency ratios of the mean damping ratios of the tested four dampers to theoretical maximum damping ratio were derived, which was very important for practical damper design and parameter optimization. Non-ideal factors affecting damper performance were discussed based on the test results. The effects of concentrated mass and negative stiffness were discussed in detail and compared theoretically. Approximate formulations were derived and verified using numerical solutions. The critical values for non-dimensional concentrated mass coefficient and negative stiffness were identified. Efficiency ratios were approximately 0.6, 0.6, and 0.3 for the viscous damper, passive MR damper and HDR damper, respectively. The efficiency ratio for the friction damper was between 0-1.0. The effects of concentrated mass and negative stiffness on cable damping were positive as both could increase damping ratio; the concentrated mass was more effective than negative stiffness for higher vibration modes.

  • The process of determining whether, when, where and how to intervene, of deciding on optimum allocation of resources and minimizing the cost is a very complex problem: different track sections tend to behave differently under the effects of loading; decision-making processes for maintenance work are closely interrelated technically and economically; decision-making for maintenance plans is based on a large quantity of technical and economic information, extensive knowledge and above all experience. For that reason, It is considered very important to develope objective and computer-aided decision-making support system for track maintenance plan. On this paper, we made a survey of the state-of-art of decision-making support systems for track maintenance which were developed and used abroad and reviewed requirements of system and present the plan of develope decision-making support system for track maintenance appropriate to local condition.

전기철도 가공전차선로의 신뢰성 기반 유지보수(RCM)에 관한 연구 (A Study on RCM Approach to Catenary System of Electric Railway)

  • A RCM approach to maintenance of the catenary system of electric railway is proposed. The proposed RCM approach provides a maintenance-oriented FMECA procedure to derive critical failure modes by analyzing failure effects and a RCM decision logic tree to suggest optimal maintenance works for the derived failure modes. By applying the proposed RCM procedures to the catenary system of high speed railway, it is suggested that strand breaks of dropper and voltage equalizing wire, and trolly wire wear-out are the critical failure modes for whom maintenance works based on condition monitoring should be applied instead of conventional time-based preventive maintenance. It is also proposed by reliability analysis that replacement time of dropper can be reduced from 18 years to 10 years. These results show that the proposed RCM approach can optimize the maintenance procedures of catenary system.

  • In the track geometry such as rails, sleepers, ballasts and fastener, track deterioration occurs by repetitive train weight and the high-speed railway takes a trend faster than normal. Track deterioration of over threshold value harms ride comfort and furthermore affect in trains safety seriously. An organic and systematic track maintenance system is very important because a trend of the track deterioration effects on track life-cycle and running safety. Also costs of the railway track permanent way and its maintenance are extremely large, forming a significant part of the total infrastructure expenditure. Therefor reasonable and efficient track maintenance has to be planed on a budget. It is required to carry out not only corrective maintenance but preventive maintenance for the track maintenance. In order to perform maintenance jobs in the boundary of the machines and resources given regarding the type and amount jobs, it is necessary to determine feasible or optimal scheduling considering the priority. In this study, the system organization and required functions for the development of track maintenance system supported track deterioration prediction and optimal scheduling are proposed.

  • This study was designed to investigate the treatment, generalization, and maintenance effects of vocal relaxation treatment on compensatory articulation(i.e., glottalization of plosive sound) of three children with cleft palate. Multiple baseline design was applied to evaluate treatment, generalization, and maintenance effects. The targeted phonemes were ph/, th/, /t/ which Were frequently substituted by glottal stop sounds. The main component of the treatment program was vocal relaxation using humming and aspiration sound /h/. The following conclusions were deduced from the results: (1) the treatment program for compensatory articulation was effective in facilitating correct production of targeted phoneme and eliminating glottalization for all subjects, (2) the treatment effects on articulation accuracy were generalized to untreated phonemes (/c/, /c$c^{h}$/) for 2 subjects, (3) the treatment effects on decrease of glottalization were generalized to untreated phonemes for all subjects, and (4) the treatment effects were maintained for all subjects for 2 weeks after treatment was terminated.

패션제품의 e-CRM에 관한 연구(1보) -신뢰와 관계몰입을 중심으로- (A Study on e-CRM in Fashion Internet Shopping Mall -Focusing on trust and commitment-)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify dynamic relationship structure in fashion Internet shopping mall and to present marketers to perform marketing strategy in e-CRM, focusing on trust and commitment. 473 customers who had purchased fashion products in fashion internet shopping mall had participated in the survey. Finally, 470 were used into data analysis. The data was analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and Structural Equation Model(SEM) using AMOS program. As the results, 'economic benefits' and 'service' variables had the positive effects on 'trust'. Especially, 'service' had the major effect on 'trust'. 'Trust' and 'product information quality' had the positive effects on 'emotional commitment'. 'Trust', 'economic benefits' and 'reputation' had the positive effects on calculus commitment, while contents had the negative effect. Also, 'emotional' and 'calculus' commitment had positive effects on 'relationship maintenance intention'. 'Emotional commitment' had higher effect on 'relationship maintenance intention' than 'calculus commitment'. 'Calculus commitment' had the positive effect on discontinue relationship intention when shopping mall made mistakes. The results of this study provide e-CRM marketing strategy for marketers of fashion internet shopping mall.

상수도 시스템의 운영 및 유지관리 의사결정 지원을 위한 시스템다이내믹스 모형의 개발 (Development of a System Dynamics Model to Support the Decision Making Processes in the Operation and Management of Water Supply Systems)

  • 본 논문에서는 시스템다이내믹스(System Dynamics, SD) 방법론에 입각하여 상수도 시스템의 운영에 내재된 피드백 루프 메커니즘(feedback loop mechanism)을 상수관로의 유지관리와 연관하여 규명하고, 관로 상태의 변화가 전체 시스템에 미치는 영향을포함한 상수도 시스템의 운영지표를예측하여 상수도 시스템의 효율적인운영 및 유지관리를 지원할 수 있는 SD 컴퓨터 모의 모형(simulation model)을 개발하였다. 개발된 모형은 물 공급(water supply) 모형, 관로 유지 관리(pipe maintenance) 모형 및 상수도 재정(water supply business finance) 모형으로 구성된다. 연구대상 지역 상수도 시스템의 운영 자료를 개발된 모형에 적용하여 모형을 검증하고 시스템의 과거 및 미래의 운영 상태를 추정하였으며, 시스템의 운영에 큰 영향을 미치는 정책 지렛대를 발견하였다. 정책 지렛대 발견을 위해 모형의 외부변수의 변화에 대한 연구대상 시스템의 주요 운영지표의 민감도가 분석되었는데 관로의 유지관리에 연관된 외부변수는 누수수량과 관로의 변화에는 큰 영향을 끼치나, 유수율을 비롯한 주요 운영지표에는 큰 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 관로의 유지관리와 유수율과 같은 주요 운영지표 간의 관계를 보다 정확히 모형화하기 위해서는 관로의 누수 또는 사고로 인해 발생하는 사회적 비용의 발생과 그 전파 메카니즘이 모형화되어야 할 것으로 분석된다.

  • Recently railway operators are doing a lot of researches and studies in order to apply reliability technologies to their maintenance tasks. The maintenance in the aviation and the munitions industry has been developed enough to be benchmarked with the high quality reliability technologies; however, railway industry is still situated in a rudimentary stage with insufficient & limited data. 5678 Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation, which has 17 year experience of the EMU maintenance and system development, has made a constant effort for appling RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) to the maintenance for a few years. In this connection, the case study is to be introduced. This paper is based on 'RCM Gateway to World Class Maintenance' by Anthony M. Smith". The reliability technology are applied to the specific EMU and its system by 7 stages; accordingly, applying SMRT's maintenance experience, a unique standard for FMEA(failure mode effect analysis) & LTA(logical tree analysis) is established. Moreover, for reasonable and effective preventive maintenance tasks, the case considering an analysis of failure effects is selected in the final step 7. SMRT will develop reliability technologies through the application of the results to all the EMU systems.

Development of electric vehicle maintenance education ability using digital twin technology and VR

  • In this paper, the maintenance training manual of EV vehicle was produced by utilizing digital twin technology and various sensors such as IR-based light house tracking and head tracker. In addition, through digital twin technology and VR to provide high immersiveness to users, sensory content creation technology was secured through animation and effect realization suitable for EV vehicle maintenance situation. EV vehicle maintenance training manual is 3D engine programming and real-time creation of 3D objects and minimization of screen obstacles and selection of specific menus in virtual space in the form of training simulation. In addition, automatic output from the Head Mount Display (HUD), EV vehicle maintenance and inspection, etc., user can easily operate content was produced. This technology development can enhance immersion to users through implementation of detailed scenarios for maintenance / inspection of EV vehicles" and 3D parts display by procedure, realization of animations and effects for maintenance situations. Through this study, familiarity with improving the quality of education and safety accidents and correct maintenance process and the experienced person was very helpful in learning how to use equipment naturally and how to maintain EV vehicles.

  • The introduction of electricity industry provides generators incentives to recover the related cost through the market. Hence, the generator should sell his/her electricity at high market-clearing price with optimal operation of his/her power plant. The maintenance of power plant is the most critical factor in affecting generators' decision-making. This paper analyzes technique for establishing maintenance schedule reflecting recovery cost and considers differences in monthly load pattern in minimizing LOLP.
