  • The flexible control system for hydraulic pile hammer using main control valve is present to the requirement of rapidly reversing with high frequency. To ensure the working reliability of hydraulic pile hammer, the reversing performance of the main control valve should commutate robustness to various interfere factors. Through simulation model built in Simulink/Stateflow and experiment, the effects of relative parameters to reverse performance of main control are analyzed and the main interfere factors for reversing performance are acquired. Treating reverse required time as design objects, some structure parameters as control factors, control pressure, input flow and gaps between spool and valve body as interfere factors, the robust design of the main control valve is done. The combination of factors with the strongest anti-jamming capability is acquired which ensured the reliability and anti-jamming capability of the main control valve. It also provides guidance on design and application of the main control valve used in large flow control with interferes.

  • The research institute has a function to get the research outcome through the various experiments, data collection and analysis. Therefore, research building is important to keep the research condition or experiment environment. But buildings would be deteriorated and leaded into the deterrence of research. Maintenance is planned to protect the research building condition through various general repair or heavy repair. The heavy repair is generally conducted in massive repair scope or main components preparation. In this paper, it aimed at analyzing the effect of the massive or main components repair with inputted cost and its resulted output. In order to analyze the effect of a massive repair, it used the Benefit/Cost analysis and sensitivity analysis. Results of this study are as follows : The benefit/cost analysis shows that research building whose researcher continuously live and study has good effect. On the contrary, pace of the the experimental function is not good effect in benefit/cost analysis. But the experimental function is indispensible to get the research outcom for the research goal. Therefore, the experimental function will be planned to repair and get the historical repair data because the proper repair time would be prepared to cut down the repair cost.

  • It is demanded to obtain the design data for bond length of the strengthening carbon fiber sheets. An objectives of this study is to provide preliminary data of rational strengthening design method which is adequate to current domestic status. The present experimental study was performed to evaluate flexural strengthening effects of steel reinforced concrete beams strengthened with carbon fiber sheets. Following conclusions can be extracted. It is revealed that the maximum load carrying capacity is increased up to 9% when the reinforced concrete beams were strengthened with 1-ply of carbon fiber sheet which is half-width of beam. The performance of reinforced concrete sections were improved due to the strengthening carbon fiber sheets on the tensile side of beams. It is believed that the strengthening length of carbon fiber sheets must be provided as (0.5l+3d) to secure the ductile capacity of above three for the flexural strengthening of reinforced concrete beams.

  • Many reinforced concrete structures have been constructed at the offshore in Korea and those are exposed in environments for long period. Due to that, the reinforcement of the structure faces possibility of corrosion by the salt damage. Such corrosions are effects on the bond performance between concrete and reinforcing bar as well as the performance of the structure. In this study, the performance of RC structure has been investigated when the reinforcing bars are totally bonded and unbonded in the structure. Through the experimental tests and finite element analyses of beam-column joint with bond and unbonded reinforcing bar, the energy dissipation capacity, strength, and crack distribution are compared and discussed.

  • This study discusses the issues related to the accuracy of deflection measurement in the testing of FRC. Some deflection methods may include large extraneous deformations. such as local crushing at the loading points, elastic and inelastic deformations of the loading fixture, etc. A faulty load-deflection curve will be obtained if an unstable deflection measuring system is used, and incorrect toughness evaluation can be reached on the basis of this faulty curve. In this paper, the discussion will focus on the effects of the deflection measuring system on both the measurement of the load-deflection response of FRC and the evaluation of FRC toughness. It is observed that ASTM toughness indices which is based on measuring deflection at first cracking is influenced significantly by extraneous deformation in deflection measurement. But extraneous deformation in deflection measurement result in negligible errors in toughness evaluation using JSCE and JCI definition. However, in order to evaluate toughness accuracy, it is desirable to use net load-deflection curve eliminated extraneous deformation.

  • Compared to normal-strength concrete, high-strength concrete has the lower lateral expansion capacity caused by the higher elastic modulus and the lower internal crack characteristic. Therefore, the effect of the lateral confining action of hoops appears slowly. Nevertheless, it has been reported that the strength and deformation capacity of high-strength concrete is improved by well-distributed hoops. Due to that argument, this investigation has been compared and analyzed by the experimental works on the deformation capacity and the confinement mechanism of high-strength concrete shear wall of the high-rise building reinforced by rectangular steel tubes and rectangular hoops at both edges. It is suggested that, using high-strength concrete($500kgf/cm^2$, $700kgf/cm^2$), hoops should be replaced with rectangular steel tubes in order to prevent closely spaced hoops at the edge of the shear wall.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flexural strengthening effects of RC beams reinforced with carbon fiber sheets (CFS) in variable of strengthening amount and anchorage length of CFS. This study can be summarized as follows ; The CFS shares the tensile stress such as rebar during loading test. Also, as the strengthening amount of CFS is increased, the maximum flexural strength of RC beams reinforced with CFS is increased. Therefore, it is confirmed that the CFS's strengthening method is very effective to improve the flexural strength of RC beams. The maximum flexural strength of RC beams with CFS is determined by bond failure between CFS and concrete surface. So, the evaluation of CFS's strengthening effect can be calculated using the tensile stress of CFS which is peeling. When the anchorage length of CFS is increased, the ductility of RC beams is increased because of delaying the peeling of CFS. But, in case of same anchorage length of CFS, when the strengthening amount of CFS is increased, the ductility is decreased. Therefore, it is considered that the anchorage of CFS in the end zone is necessary.

  • In this paper, the strengthening method was proposed for improving the seismic performance of the vulnerable structural frames. To improve the brittle characteristics of columns, aramid fiber sheet was used for the lateral confinement of columns. And to introduce the energy dissipation capacity, a steel damper with S-shaped struts was installed. By making the unreinforced and reinforced specimens with full size specimens were evaluated for lateral load resistance capacity. It was confirmed the strengthening effects by the evaluation of failure shape, strength, stiffness degradation, and energy dissipation capacity. Also from the FE analysis using ABAQUS, the hysteretic behavior of the specimens were predicted and evaluated.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the flexural behavior of Hybrid fiber sheet (HFC) and Hybrid fiber bar (HFB) strengthened reinforced concrete (RC) beams. According to test results, Hybrid fiber reinforcement strengthened RC beams showed approximately 60 to 200% higher reinforcing effects than that of un-reinforced specimens. In addition, the reinforced beams showed the ideal failure pattern, which is failed presenting the ductile behavior after yielding of the reinforcing bar. More specifically, in the case of HFB reinforced RC beams, the difference with puttying method was not apparent since HFB beams reinforced using the injection of epoxy and bonding of putty showed the similar failure patterns.

  • When the high voltage motor fails in power plants, there will be an occurrence where the generator's output would be reduced or the generators would trip. Despite of these effects, the causes of deterioration of the high voltage motor is very seldom investigated. In this paper, the collected data which tested in the field over 10 years have been treated statistically, and analyzed to correlate the insulation deterioration of high voltage motor and installation environment, number of start/stop, and service life. Moreover, the proper period of insulation test is developed to map out maintenance strategy and reduce maintenance costs.
