  • A simulation model is developed for planning maintenance, and it can be used in the procedure of Reliability-Centered Maintenance. System availability and the total cost of system operation are predicted by discrete event simulation. These two kinds of output are useful to determine the interval of preventive maintenance. This paper describes simulation logic, and focuses on modeling the maintenance effects and the relations of maintenance works. An example is described for illustrating the simulation model.

  • This paper introduces KTX RCM(Reliability-Centered Maintenance) project which is for development of a decision making support system on the KTX maintenance framework. The functionality of the system is composed of ( i ) Fundamental Data Management, ( ⅱ ) Maintenance Goal Management, ( ⅲ ) Maintenance Program Management, ( ⅳ ) Cost-Effect Analysis, ( v ) Parameter Management. This system may improve existing maintenance Management procedure for rolling stock of KNR.

  • Engineering structures including civil infrastructures require a life-cycle cost and benefit during their service lives. The service life of a structure can be extended through appropriate inspection and maintenance actions. In general, this service life extension requires more life-cycle cost and cumulative benefit. For this reason, structure managers need to make a rational decision regarding the service life management considering both the cost and benefit simultaneously. In this paper, the probabilistic decision tool to determine the optimal service life based on cost-benefit analysis is presented. This decision tool requires an estimation of the time-dependent effective cost-benefit under uncertainty to formulate the optimization problem. The effective cost-benefit is expressed by the difference between the cumulative benefit and life-cycle cost of a deteriorating structure over time. The objective of the optimization problem is maximizing the effective cost-benefit, and the associated solutions are the optimal service life and maintenance interventions. The decision tool presented in this paper can be applied to any deteriorating engineering structure.

  • The investment of BTL(Build-Transfer-Lease) projects for the educational facilities has been increased since 2005. However, many trial errors and problems have been occurring due to the lack of inspection criteria in maintenance cost for the lift cycle of the facilities. Thus, purpose of this study is to derive regression equation for the daily inspection and the regular inspection through analysis of CAD data in order to set the inspection criteria. It is possible to calculate economical maintenance cost of BTL project in educational facilities using criteria of inspection time through the regression equation developed in this study.

  • This paper considers probable determinants of the application software outsourcing costs and focuses on the service level agreement (SLA) influence. Recently, outsourcing clients and vendors have contracted SLA and tried to reflect them on outsourcing prices. While application software maintenance has been one of the most frequently outsourced functions, its cost did not reflect the service level requirements by the client. This paper empirically shows that the service urgency requirement on SLA increases the maintenance programmers' effort and thus increases the vendor's cost. This result can be used by vendors for program allocation purposes.

  • In this paper, the objective is an evaluation of economics using Life Cycle Cost(LCC) analysis for the ballasted track and the concrete track. However, since the absence of reliable data on maintenance activities, the degree of a reliability about the results of the LCC analysis is insufficient yet. In order to remedy the problems, we surveyed a professional research group for an approximate estimation which can be represented a degree of maintenance through a application of examples. Hereby we found that it is possible to expect the retrenchment of cost using preventive maintenance management. Moreover we proposed appropriate and economical restrictions between track structures.

  • The maintenance and repair period consists the largest part of a construction project life cycle cost. However, it has been analyzed that the repairing plan relies on regulations and the officers' experience mostly that sometimes lead to performing unnecessary work. Moreover, the data occurred during repairing have not been stored in a system that can be used in future plans. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest a repairing cost and time predicting model by applying the properties of the building.

  • In this paper, we want to know the optimal replacement cycle(time) for this study was performed. The optimal preventive replacement age can be fond by finding the value of time that minimizes the cost function(model of Barlow and Jardine). In addition, The reliability of the relay according to the service environment were studied. The use of the exchange relay period is longer, and maintenance cost rate(per hour) may increase, and also the reliability may cause a decline. In addition, considering the preventive maintenance and purchase order, a representative relay(RAX-L440-A type) life was calculated.

  • The rental housing has been a main role to supply a living space to the household who can not be available for the home-owner. Specially, the public rental housing is targeted for the low-income household and supplied with low rental fee. Therefore, the rent owner should manage and maintain the housing condition decently with a systematically maintenance plan which includes a repair time and scope, a repair cost. Among them, the repair time is important to make a repair plan. The repair time would be explained with two types, which is divided into a breakdown maintenance and a preventive maintenance. Each of them has a advantage in a repair cost, maintenance of the living condition and provision of the repair scope and method. In this paper, it aimed at providing the repair time in 12 components of the public rental housing which is reflected from a preventive maintenance. This study shows that overall, a permanent rental housing has a longer repair time than any other rental housing in 12 housing components. A public rental housing is closer to the a permanent rental housing then a redevelopment rental housing in repair time. On the other hand, the repair time of the 12 housing components is different form the rental housing. This leads to further study in difference of the repair time according to a tenant type.

  • This study deals with the procedure of safety improvement, productivity increase ,and tact-time reduction through setting up the system about preventive maintenance. Actually, it is hard to establish and carry out preventive maintenance, even though we recognize the importance of the system concerning time, cost, labor, and so forth. In this study in the viewpoint of cost we are for achieving maximum efficiency by change and reduction of planning process adapted to the special work group. At first we briefly will mention the kind ,the necessity ,and the concept of preventive maintenance ,and then divide the equipment used in the assembly line into the two whether it is necessary or not by way of estimating the breakdown loss ,comparing with general establishment of preventive maintenance and modifying it to the case. At the second step we will establish the operation system of plan management related to production and quality in the special case. Check period and category will be set by dividing the assembly equipment into LCL and Focus in the third step. The forth step will contain the operation procedure in detail. And then we must make check and repair record periodically. Finally, on the basis of the record the selection of checking of significance will be conducted. This results in safety improvement, tact time reduction, and productivity improvement.
