  • This study is concerned with Quality Maintenance System in Total Productive Maintenance. The important factor in manufacturing process is to attain the uniformity of quality Also quality assurance system is defined such as manufacturing process and products. In this paper, the design of quality maintenance system is considered to manufacturing process elements. Especially the manufacturing process is oriented to machinery equipments, repair and maintenance system is wide principal factor. And quality in manufacturing field is influenced by equipment maintenance system. So in the article, maintenance system for quality is given in a view of quality assurance. And the analysis of Physical Mechanism is explored in real field example.

  • As the importance of maintenance of reinforced concrete structure recently has emerged, the attention of durability of structure has been increasing. There are many studies about durability decline especially due to the carbonation. In order to study carbonation progress after surface repair of carbonated concrete, each carbonation penetration velocity from different repair materials of concrete structure is compared through the experiment of carbonation accelerating CO2 concentration to 20% and 100%. As carbonation infiltration progress is predicted through this study, the counterplan of service life evaluation will be prepared on selection of repair materials of concrete structure.

APPRAISAL OF MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES USED IN PUBLIC HOSPITAL BUILDINGS IN LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

  • The study focused on the evaluation of maintenance management strategies used in public hospital buildings in Lagos state. It also assessed the labour composition for maintenance operations. In achieving these objectives, opinions of maintenance officers of ten (10) different hospitals in different local government areas of the state were sampled through well structured questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the analysis, the study revealed that majority of those public hospitals do not have specific budget for maintenance programmes, maintenance policies, maintenance log book and maintenance manual to guide the operatives. About 98% of them do not understand the type of maintenance strategy being used for their maintenance operations. 78% of the maintenance work are only executed when there is a breakdown or in response to user's request. For labour composition, the cleaning of interior and exterior of the building, inspection of building elements, repairs and replacements of building elements are mainly carried out by in-house staff, while the repair and replacement of equipment is by outsourcing. The study also revealed that using in- house staff, reduces costs and provides a higher security while outsourcing provides more flexibility in staffing reduces equipment expenditures and provide better access to special skills. The study recommended proactive measures to provide necessary training and support for maintenance staff and users of these facilities and a means of securing sufficient funds for maintenance programmes.

  • This study is to establish a standardization of injection system by inorganic material for crack repair of tunnel concrete structures. For this various surveys and experiments were carried out as followed. The first we surveyed capability of injection and crack pattern of concrete structures in site. and second we analyzed the relationship between crack width and volume of injection, and decided pressure and volume of injection. Finally we evaluated the relationship between crack width and volume of injection with kind of concrete structures, and between required time for injection and crack width with thickness of structure. From these surveys and experiments, we cleared the relationship between crack patterns and injection technologies such as volume, pressure of injection and required time for injection with kind of structure.

The Current Issues on Warranty & Maintenance Policy of the Second-Hand Products (중고제품의 보증과 보전정책에 대한 최근 연구 동향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study research trend in the field of warranty and maintenance policy of second-hand products. Methods: To this end, we consider research articles, which deal with warranty and maintenance of the second-hand products, published on journals during the past 20 years and classify them by taxonomy scheme proposed by Shafiee and Chukova (2013). The taxonomy scheme consists of three maintenance models in warranty for second-hand product. In each models, we analyze proposed maintenance and warranty policies with respect to types of upgrade models, types of preventive maintenances, decision variables and decision criteria model. Results: We obtain the scheme of maintenance and warranty of the second-hand products and define cost related to warranty and maintenance of the second-hand item. Also, we summarize the characteristics of maintenance and warranty policies in each classified model. Conclusion: There have been several research reviews on maintenance and warranty polity of new products. This research surveys researches of authors during the past 20 years and classifies, summarizes and compares proposed maintenance and warranty policies of the second-hand products. This research provides useful information to researchers who are interested in maintenance and warranty of the second-hand products.

Properties of Repair Cement Mortar with C12A7-based Alumina Cement and Nitrite for Low Temperature Curing (C12A7계 알루미나시멘트 및 아질산염을 사용한 저온환경 보수시공용 시멘트 모르타르의 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the basic performance of cement mortar for repair using alumina cement and nitrite can be cured in low temperature environment. For this purpose, the repair mortar used in the domestic construction site was selected and the experimental evaluation was carried out by adjusting the mixing amount by substituting alumina cement and nitrite for the blending ratio. The experimental test results confirmed that alumina cement and nitrite were replaced with the repair mortar, the initial strength was improved. Also, the chemical resistance was improved, the shrinkage behavior was decreased, and the resistance to freezing and thawing was increased. As a result, applying alumina cement and nitrite at a ratio of 2:1 at 7.5%, the surface condition was maintained for 5 months or longer and it was judged to be excellent in practical use for external structures.

  • Purpose - This research explores the impacts of third-party logistics (3PLs) within the aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to explore the role of collaborative relationships for improving outsourcing. Globalization and time based competition have changed business environments and challenged the conventional management strategies that are related to core competencies and operational models. Organizations are forced to devise innovative practices in which logistics outsourcing to 3PLs offers significant advantages. Research design, data, and methodology - This case study was conducted within a leading global aircraft MRO organization whose reach spans across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas. The methods used face to face semi-structured interviews, validated through further focus group discussions. Results - These findings highlight the effectiveness of collaborative relationships on their role to improve outsourcing and also demonstrated that MROs gain several advantages from 3PL arrangements. However, any gaps in outsourcing management elevates potential risks to organizations as well, which could result in reputational, operational and financial losses. Conclusions - Although generalizability is not possible due to the case study approach, generality suggests that in order to reduce reputational, operational and financial risks, enhanced collaboration with 3PLs is recommended to optimize outsourcing arrangements.

The Characteristics of the Repair Cost Distribution in Apartment Housing

  • Purpose: The repair would require to conserve and improve the building function and performance since built. Each household is responsible for maintaining the public facilities and paying the required cost. Therefore, it needs to get the tool or method to forecast the required cost in the future. Before the repair cost is provided, it needs to catch the repair cost distribution and provide the unit cost for the repair cycle. In this study, it aimed at providing the repair cost unit and analyzing the repair cost distribution in a roof proofing work, elevator work and building painting, which are divided into a fully work and partly change. Results of this study are shown that first, the average repair cost for roof proofing work is provided with $166.59{\times}10^3won/household$ and $1.59{\times}10^3won/m^2$ of a full change, $33.22{\times}10^3won/household$ and $0.33{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a partly work. In addition, elevator work is $557.45{\times}10^3won/household$ and $5.38{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a full change, $32.92{\times}10^3won/household$ and $0.56{\times}10^3won/m^2$ for a partly repair. Painting has a $304.48{\times}10^3won/household$ and $2.94{\times}10^3won/m^2$. Second, the distribution pattern of repair unit cost has a weibull-typed distribution which has a long tail to the right.

A study on the present operation status and the efficient maintenance program of the air-conditioners in each train model (철도차량용 냉방기의 차종별 운용현황고찰과 효율적인 유지보수방안 연구)

  • Though the air-conditioners in each train model have almost identical function, there is incompatibility between them because of their different electric capacity and parts, even spares manufactures are different in the manufactured year. It cause over cost in the maintenance and repair of the each air-conditioner. In this paper, all the air-conditioners in each train model have been classified by their capacity and features so that grasp the operation status and the repair process of the air-conditioners, and draft systematically cost-effective solutions. By finding a way to deal with the emergency repair and extending the air-conditioner life though improvement of checking up progress, increase of passenger revenue can be reached considerably.

Development and Performance of Self-Propelled Vehicles for Repairing Concrete Sewage Pipes (콘크리트 하수관로 결함부 보수를 위한 자주차 개발 및 성능평가)

  • In this study, an experiment was conducted on the development and performance of self-propelled vehicles to repair defects in concrete sewage pipes. The self-propelled vehicle for a non-excavation repair for the sewage pipe defects was developed in consideration of the performance of the driving system, the feasibility of the repair unit, and the transportation of repair materials. In order to evaluate the performance of the developed self-propelled vehicle, a repair test was performed by simulating a defect at a connection between the main pipe and extruded one. The main sewage pipe was meade of concrete and its diameter was 500mm. Thereafter, watertightness performance was evaluated on the leakage at the repaired part. For watertightness performance, both ends of concrete sewage pipe and connected one was inserted by plugs, and then water was injected. The amount of leakage water measurement was 0.07L/㎡, indicating a value less than 0.2L/㎡ of the allowable leakage amount. Therefore, test results indicated that the self-propelled vehicle developed in this study exhibited excellent maintenance performance for repairing the sewage pipes.
