Acicular $\alpha-FeOOH\; and\; Ba(OH)_2\cdot8H_2O$ are starting materials in this study. This paper presents the characteristics of the contents of citric acid and heating condition for preparing acicular barium ferrite powder. They control particle shape, crystalline phase, magnetic properties of acicular barium ferrite powder So the effects of the contents of citric acid and heating condition are studied. The experimental condition for starting materials were 800~1000$\circ C$ in firing and 0~40 wt% citric acid, respectively, Ba-ferrite particles fired at the range of 800 $\circ C$to 900 $\circ C$ were maintained as acicular particle shape, but there were mixed particles of acicular and round shape after fired at 950 $\circ C$. Ba-ferrite powder of the single phase was obtained in firing at 900~1000$\circ C$ and with 20 wt.% citric acid. There were unreacted phase of $\alpha-Fe_2O_3 \;and \; BaFe_2O_4$ phases as a second phase in case of sintering at below 850 $\circ C$. Acicular barium ferrite powder of single phase was also produced in firing at 900 $\circ C$ with 20 wt.% citric acid. The saturation magnetization of single phase of acicular $BaFe_12O_19$powder was about 51 emu/g and coercivity was about 4200 Oe.
Porous silicon was prepared by an anodic etching. The pore size was about 10 nm at an etching time of 20 sec and a current density of 20 mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$. The porous layer was composed of an micro-porous layer (0.6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$) and a macro-porous layer (10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$). Room temperature PL with maximum peak 6700$\AA$ appeared. The peak disappeared by an oxidation reaction when the porous silicon was heated to 100~20$0^{\circ}C$ in atmosphere. In order to avoid the oxidation a heat treatment was done in H2 atmosphere. The micro-pore and Si column, which formed quantum well, were collapsed by the high temperature. The PL maximum peak of heated sample was gradually red-shifted and showed about 300$\AA$ red-shift at 50$0^{\circ}C$. The intensity of PL was maintained to high temperatures in lower pressures. The porous Si was carbonized in C2H2+H2 gas in order to increase thermal stability. The carbonization of the porous Si prevented red-shift of the maximum PL peak caused by sintering effect at high temperatures, and the carbonized porous Si showed Pl signal at higher temperatures by above 20$0^{\circ}C$ than the sample in H2 atmosphere.
Northern Arabian Sea (NAS) between $17^{\circ}N-20.5^{\circ}N$ and $59^{\circ}E-69^{\circ}E$ was observed by using Argo float daily data fur about 9 months, from April 2002 through December 2002. Results showed that during April - May mixed layer shoaled due to light winds, clear sky and intense solar insolation. Sea surface temperature (SST) rose by $2.3^{\circ}C$ and ocean gained an average of 99.8 $Wm^{-2}$. Mixed layer reached maximum depth of about 71 m during June - September owing to strong winds and cloudy skies. Ocean gained abnormally low $\sim18Wm^{-2}$ and SST dropped by $3.4^{\circ}C$. During the inter monsoon period, October, mixed layer shoaled and maintained a depth of 20 to 30 m. November - December was accompanied by moderate winds, dropping of SST by $1.5^{\circ}C$ and ocean lost an average of 52.5 $Wm^{-2}$. Mixed layer deepened gradually reaching a maximum of 62 m in December. Analysis of surface fluxes and winds suggested that winds and fluxes are the dominating factors causing deepening of mixed layer during summer and winter monsoon periods respectively. Relatively big]h correlation between MLD, net heat flux and wind speed revealed that short term variability of MLD coincided well with short term variability of surface forcing.
In woody plant germplasms, using prefrozen dormant buds for materials is one way to achieve successful cryopreservation. The protocol of cryopreservation for White birch (Betula platyphylla var. japonica) winter vegetative buds is the following. First, the branches of White birch were collected in January 20, when the vegetative buds were still in a state of quiescence. The winter buds with about 5㎜ of xylem tissue were removed from the branches. They were dehydrated to moisture contents about 44% by air dry treatment. The buds were prefrozen, with the temperature being decreased by 5∼-20$\^{C}$ and then transfered to the LN(liquid nitrogen) maintained below -l96$\^{C}$. After cryopreservation, the vegetative buds were rapidly thawed in a water bath at 40$\pm$5$\^{C}$. In this case, the cell survival rate of samples was about 86%. After sterilization, buds were then cultured on MS medium. These results demonstrate the feasibility for cryopreservation of winter vegetation buds of Betula platyphylla var. japonica.
Effect of chitosan on shelf life of soybean tofu was investigated. The quality changes of soybean tofu drained after immersion in $0.1\%$ chitosan solution for 1 hr were examined during storage at 10, 20 and $30^{\circ}C$. The number of viable cell of soybean tofu with treated chitosan was lower about 1 log cycle than that of control after 2 days storage at $10^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$, although there was no detectable differences at $30^{\circ}C$. pH decrease during storage soybean tofu at $10^{\circ}C$ was begun after 4 days in soybean tofu with treated chitosan, while 3days in control. Hardness of soybean tofu with treated chitosan was maintained higher than that of control over the storage period at $10^{\circ}C,\;20^{\circ}C\;\and\;30^{\circ}C$. Shelf life of soybean tofu with treated chitosan was extended about 1 day at $10^{\circ}C$ compared with control.
Proteus vulgaris K80 lipase was expressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) cells and immobilized on amine-terminated magnetic microparticles (Mag-MPs). The immobilization yield and activity retention were 84.15% and 7.87%, respectively. A homology model of lipase K80 was constructed using P. mirabilis lipase as the template. Many lysine residues were located on the protein surface, remote from active sites. The biochemical characteristics of immobilized lipase K80 were compared with the soluble free form of lipase K80. The optimum temperature of K80-Mag-MPs was $60^{\circ}C$, which was $20^{\circ}C$ higher than that of the soluble form. K80-Mag-MPs also tended to be more stable than the soluble form at elevated temperatures and a broad range of pH. K80-Mag-MP maintained its stable form at up to $40^{\circ}C$ and in a pH range of 5.0-10.0, whereas soluble K80 maintained its activity up to $35^{\circ}C$ and pH 6.0-10.0. K80-Mag-MPs had broader substrate specificity compared with that of soluble K80. K80-Mag-MPs showed about 80% residual relative activity after five recovery trials. These results indicate the potential benefit of K80-Mag-MPs as a biocatalyst in various industries.
This experiment was carried out to study the influence of temperature on the growth rate and nutrient uptake of tobacco seedlings grown on neutralized charcoal bed during temporary transplanting. The highest growth rate was obtained at tile temperature of 26-22-$l8^{\circ}C$, probably due to fast establishment of roots in the soil. Seedling growth was better in neutralized charcoal bed than in chaffy charcoal bed at each temperature. Days required for fresh weight to reach 20g/10p1ants were shortened by 9~12days as the temperature increased from 18-14-$l0^{\circ}C$ to 26-22-$l8^{\circ}C$. Compared with chaffy charcoal bed, days required for fresh weight to reach 20g/10 plants with neutralized charcoal bed were shortened by about 5 days, 4 days, and 2days at 18-14-$l0^{\circ}C$, 22-18-$l4^{\circ}C$, and 26-22-$l8^{\circ}C$, respectively. Three macronutrient (N, $P_2O_5,\;K_2O$) contents in seedlings increased with increase of temperature. At each temperature, N and $K_2O$ contents in seedlings of neutralized charcoal bed was higher than those of chaffy charcoal bed, whereas that of $P_2O_5$ was low conversely. Nitrate nitrogen from nitric acid that was used to neutralize chaffy charcoal was maintained to tile end of seedling period, providing the source of nitrate nitrogen for the better seedlings.

It was reported in our Previous paper that the fermented products from Gloeostereum incarnatum strongly inhibit the growth of six kinds of bacteria in human bodies. In this paper the appropriated conditions of immersing culture for the strain 8 903 of Gloeostereum incarnatum was analysed. And the output of the hypha and fermentative product was determined or compared, The prelimenaryresults showed that the appropriated conditions for the growth of Gloeostereum incarnatum are: (1)culture medium:glucose 3%; protein peoptne 0.2%; soybeancake power 1%, yeast power 0.3%; KH2PO40.05%; MgSO4 0.03%; CaCO3 0.01%; vitamin Bl 0.001%; befor sterilization pH Value of six should be maintained; (2) temperature; 27$^{\circ}C$~28$^{\circ}C$; (3) time; about 200 hours; (4) ventilation; (30%~50%)/min. The sigh of the end culture we: pH coming down about 4: remnant glucoses less 1%, amino nitrogens about 20;, time about eight days. In the aforementioned conditions, the output of fermentative product achieve to 2.5 ~3g/L.
Rainbow trout were reared in a small indoor aquarium which was equipped with a simple recirculating biofilter combined with a small amount of inflowing water for 199 days from April 25 to November 10, 1977 in Busan where very hot summer air temperature is encountered, and results obtained were promissing as following; 1. The aquarium has dimensions of $1m\;\times\;1m\;\times\;67cm(depth)$, and a bottom center sedimentation chamber of conical type through which out-flowing water is pushing fecal matter and other detritus outward. The conical sedimentation chamber measures 20 cm depth and 20 cm diameter at its upper mouth and tapers to the bottom end which is connected to 4 cm diameter draining pipe. The draining pipe goes through under the tank and then is elevated on the side. The water depth was maintained at about 40 cm depth by adjusting the heigh of draining pipe. The filter bed contained 16 l of $3\~5\;mm$ zeolite gravels, and water circulation rate was about 1030 l/hr. 2. Continuous inflowing water resulted in a good elimination of waste materials through its outflowing water thus reducing waste loading in the filter. 3. Mean temperature of water in the rearing aquarium containing about 400 l water volume was maintained at around 20 to $22^{\circ}C$ by 0.59 l/min of the inflowing well water which usually maintained the temperature of $17^{\circ}C$ during the hot summer season from the first of July to the first of October when the 10-days-mean air temperature ranged from $20^{\circ}\;to\;27.3^{\circ}C$$(total\;mean\;24.6^{\circ}C) $ and under this condition the fish continued normal growth. 4. The production per 1 l/min of inflowing water with this simple biofilteration reached 30 hg. 5. The total cost including all feed and power during this experimental rearing period fell well within the economic establishment and if the feed and filteration system are improved the benefit-cost ratio will be much increased.
The Hydroxyapatite powders were prepared by Wet-direct and Hydrothermal synthesis using Ca(NO3)2.4H2O and (NH4)2.HPO4.Stoichiometric and good cristalline HAp powders were obtained 9$0^{\circ}C$ by wet-direct process. The aspect ratio of HAp powders prepared by hydrothermal synthesis was increased with increasing synthetic temperature. The HAp particles obtained at 20$0^{\circ}C$ for 10hr were needle shaped ultra fine crystals, about 100nm in size. Small amount of TCP was obtained above 80$0^{\circ}C$ after heat-treatment of hydrothermally synthesized HAp but good crystalline HAp phase was maintained up to 120$0^{\circ}C$ as the primary phase.
