A methodology to evaluate corroded RC structures using a probabilistic damage approach

  • Several aspects influence corrosive processes in reinforced concrete (RC) structures such as environmental conditions, structural geometry and mechanical properties. Since these aspects present large randomnesses, probabilistic models allow a more accurate description of the corrosive phenomena. Besides, the definition of limit states in the reliability assessment requires a proper mechanical model. In this context, this study proposes a straightforward methodology for the mechanical-probabilistic modelling of RC structures subjected to reinforcements' corrosion. An improved damage approach is proposed to define the limit states for the probabilistic modelling, considering three main degradation phenomena: concrete cracking, rebar yielding and rebar corrosion caused either by chloride or carbonation mechanisms. The stochastic analysis is evaluated by the Monte Carlo simulation method due to the computational efficiency of the Lumped Damage Model for Corrosion (LDMC). The proposed mechanical-probabilistic methodology is implemented in a computational framework and applied to the analysis of a simply supported RC beam and a 2D RC frame. Curves illustrate the probability of failure evolution over a service life of 50 years. Moreover, the proposed model allows drawing the probability of failure map and then identifying the critical failure path for progressive collapse analysis. Collapse path changes caused by the corrosion phenomena are observed.

  • This paper presents novel ZVZCS PWM DC-DC converters. The proposed soft-switching technique achieves ZVS and ZCS simultaneously at both turn-on and turn-off of the main switch and diode by using only one auxiliary switch. Also, the proposed soft-switching technique is suitable for not only minority but also majority carrier semiconductor devices. The auxiliary circuit of the proposed topology is placed out the main power path and therefore, there are no voltage/current stresses on the main switch and diode. The operating principle of the proposed circuit is illustrated by a detailed study with the boost converter as an example. The validity of the proposed converter is verified by theoretical analysis, simulation and experiment results.

Technological and Personal Factors of Determining the Acceptance of Wrist-Worn Smart Devices

  • With much attention being paid to the rapid growth of wrist-worn smart devices, this study aimed to examine the micro-processes that determine an individual's adoption of smart bands and smartwatches. Primarily relying on the theoretical background of the extended technology acceptance model (TAM II), this study explored relationships between three groups of predictors-social, personal, and device-oriented-and the three main components of the original TAM: perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and behavioral intention (BI). Results from the path analysis indicated multiple factors played significant roles in increasing the PU, PEOU, and BI of wristworn smart devices: subjective norms, social image, self-efficacy, perceived service diversity, and perceived reasonable cost. The main findings from this research contribute to significantly improving the understanding of the main factors leading people to adopt wrist-worn smart devices.

  • 날로 심각해져 가는 교통체증은 교통량에 비해 도로용량이 부족하여 나타나는 현상이나, 도로부족만이 교통체증의 주요 원인이라고 단정지을 수는 없다. 왜냐하면, 도시의 중추적 기능이 도심에 집중되어 있고 교통수요가 시간대별로 고르게 분포되어 있지 않기 때문이다. 이 연구는 개개의 운전자가 원하는 속도를 유지할 수 있는 통행의 질을 평가하는 주행계획에 있어서, 출발지로부터 목적지까지의 경로선택 시, 교통지체가 가장 적게 발생하는 선을 선택한다는 사실에 착안하여, 복잡한 가로망에 대하여 GIS기법을 이용한 경로를 교통량과 토로용량분석의 경로에 따라 가로별, 교차로별로 분석하여 기하급수적으로 증가하는 토로교통수요에 따라 시시각각 변모하는 토로, 교통, 운전자특성파악에 접근하고자 하며, 또한 가로별, 교차로별로 인접한 교통유발구역에 대한 분석과 같은 네트웍으로 시간당, 일주일의 하루 및 즉시 분류를 다양한 조건하에서 발생하는 교통지체경향에 대한 실제적 최적경로를 획득하고자 하며, 차후 최적경로 선택에 따른 교통의 원활한 배분을 통해 도로이용의 효율성 증대라는 결과를 기대하고, 따라서 교통량 대 도로용량과의 비에 따른 구간분석을 통하여 도로의 확장 및 확충의 적정시기를 결정하는데 있어서 과학적, 객관적이며 타당한 근거를 마련하고자 한다.

  • In a few studies about product involvement there was confusion in the construct of involvement especially in association with importance. Due to the confusion of the construct unanticipated and inconsistent results were reported in some cases. So this study was mainly to identify the relationship between clothing importance and clothing involvement and also investigated the casual relationships among consumers n, value, clothing importance, clothing involvement fashion opinion leadership, and shopping behavior. The data were collected from 429 female adults using questionnaire, and were analysed with actor and path analysis. Results can be summarized as follows. First, clothing importance was the separate concept from clothing involvement, though they were closely related. Second. it was revealed that the main casual path was valuerlongrightarrowclothing importancelongrightarrowclothing involvementlongrightarrowfashion opinion leadership, shopping preference, shopping frequency, and shopping time. On the whole, the affective dimension of clothing involvement mainly affected them, and consumer's age negatively affected fashion opinion leadership and shopping behavior.

Optimal Provider Mobility in Large-Scale Named- Data Networking

  • Named-Data Networking (NDN) is one of the promising approaches for the Future Internet to cope with the explosion and current usage pattern of Internet traffic. Content provider mobility in the NDN allows users to receive real-time traffic when the content providers are on the move. However, the current solutions for managing these mobile content providers suffer several issues such as long handover latency, high cost, and non-optimal routing path. In this paper, we survey main approaches for provider mobility in NDN and propose an optimal scheme to support the mobile content providers in the large-scale NDN domain. Our scheme predicts the movement of the provider and uses state information in the NDN forwarding plane to set up an optimal new routing path for mobile providers. By numerical analysis, our approach provides NDN users with better service access delay and lower total handover cost compared with the current solutions.

평생직업능력개발 경로 재설계의 가능성과 한계 (Possibility and Limit of a Redesign of a Path for Lifelong Vocational Competency Development)

  • 현대 사회가 추구하는 이념은 평생학습을 통한 평생고용이다. 이를 가능케 하는 한마디가 평생직업능력개발이다. 이 연구는 평생직업능력개발체제를 진단하여 평생직업능력개발 경로 재설계의 가능성과 한계를 탐색하고, 효율적인 직업교육경로의 재설계 방안을 제시하려는 시도이다. 이를 위해 국가인적자원개발기본계획, 평생직업능력개발기본계획, 평생학습진흥계획을 대상으로 하여 과제별 분석을 하였다. 또한 정책의 토대가 되는 주요 법령의 구조와 내용에 대한 분석도 이루어졌다. 평생직업능력개발을 위한 교육경로를 크게 학제 내 영역, 근로자 일터 영역, 평생직업훈련기관 영역으로 나누고 교육경로상의 주요 기관 운영현황과 순환과정을 분석하여 시사점을 도출하였다. 이러한 분석 결과에 기초하여 평생직업능력개발체제의 확성화를 위한 직업교육경로 재설계 방안이 다음과 같이 도출되었다. 첫째, 평생직업능력개발을 위한 경로 체제를 산업체가 요구하는 기술과 수요에 연계되는 효율적인 인력양성을 하는 방향으로 재구조화하여야 한다. 둘째, 평생직업능력개발을 위한 일과 학습간의 순환, 병행이 이루어질 수 있는 순환 모델을 정형화하여야 한다. 셋째, 평생직업능력개발을 위한 지역중심의 클러스터를 형성하여 분업 및 연계 협력관계를 갖도록 하는 효율적인 네트워크를 구성하여야 한다.

HMM을 기반으로 한 자율이동로봇의 음성명령 인식시스템의 개발 (Development of Autonomous Mobile Robot with Speech Teaching Command Recognition System Based on Hidden Markov Model)

  • Generally, a mobile robot is moved by original input programs. However, it is very hard for a non-expert to change the program generating the moving path of a mobile robot, because he doesn't know almost the teaching command and operating method for driving the robot. Therefore, the teaching method with speech command for a handicapped person without hands or a non-expert without an expert knowledge to generate the path is required gradually. In this study, for easily teaching the moving path of the autonomous mobile robot, the autonomous mobile robot with the function of speech recognition is developed. The use of human voice as the teaching method provides more convenient user-interface for mobile robot. To implement the teaching function, the designed robot system is composed of three separated control modules, which are speech preprocessing module, DC servo motor control module, and main control module. In this study, we design and implement a speaker dependent isolated word recognition system for creating moving path of an autonomous mobile robot in the unknown environment. The system uses word-level Hidden Markov Models(HMM) for designated command vocabularies to control a mobile robot, and it has postprocessing by neural network according to the condition based on confidence score. As the spectral analysis method, we use a filter-bank analysis model to extract of features of the voice. The proposed word recognition system is tested using 33 Korean words for control of the mobile robot navigation, and we also evaluate the performance of navigation of a mobile robot using only voice command.

  • 최근 국내외 무인기 시장이 급속도로 성장하고 UAM과 같은 도심 내 UAV 운용의 중요성이 증가함에 따라 UAV의 고장으로 인한 인명 및 재산 피해에 대한 안전 관리 및 규제 체계가 부각되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 안전한 UAM 비행 경로 계획을 위해 운용 지역의 위험을 평가하는 위험 비용 모델들을 비교 분석하고, 각 모델의 주요 한계점을 식별하여 향후 모델 개발 시 고려해야 할 사항들을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 UAM 운용의 안전성 향상을 위한 기초적인 모델을 제공함으로써, UAM 비행 경로 계획 관련 분야의 기술적 개선과 정책 결정에 중요한 기여를 할 것으로 기대된다.
