소성변형 및 마멸을 고려한 열간 단조 금형의 수명 평가 (Tool life Evaluation of Hot Forging about Plastic Deformation and Wear)

  • Hot forging is widely used in the manufacturing of industry machine component. The mechanical, thermal load and thermal softening which are happened by the high temperature in hot forging process. Tool life decreases considerably due to the softening of the surface layer of a tool caused by a high thermal load and long contact time between the tool and billet. Also, tool life is to a large extent limited by wear, heat crack and plastic deformation in hot forging process. These are one of the main factors affecting die accuracy and tool life. That is because hot forging process has many factors influencing tool life, and there was not accurate in-process data. In this research, life prediction of hot forging tool by wear and plastic deformation analysis considering tempering parameter has been carried out for automobile component. The new developed technique in this study for predicting tool life can give more feasible means to improve the tool life in hot forging process.

냉간압출을 이용한 롱넥 플랜지 성형에 대한 공정설계 (Process Sequence Design of Longneck Flange by Cold Extrusion Process)

  • This paper is concerned with the process sequence design of longneck flange forming by using cold extrusion with thick hollow pipe. The conventional hot forming process to produce a longneck flange is investigated by thermo-viscoplastic finite element method to observe the metal flow in detail and evaluate design requirements. Based on the results of simulation of the current hot forming process, design strategy for improving the process sequence are developed using the thick hollow pipe. The main goal is to obtain an appropriate improved process sequence which can produce the required product most economically without tensile cracking, workpiece buckling, and overloading of tools. Newly process condition such as semi-die angle, reductio ratio of cross-sectional area of axisymmetrical extrusion process. The final designed process can provide very useful guidelines to other flange forming industries.

비축대칭 디프 드로잉 제품에 대한 공정설계 시스템의 적용 (Application of Process Planning System for Non-Axisymmetric Deep Drawing Products)

  • A computer-aided process planning system for rotationally symmetric deep drawing products has been developed. The application for non-axisymmetric components, however, has been reported yet. Therefore, this study investigates process sequence design in deep drawing process and constructs a computer-aided process planning system for non-axisymmetric motor frame products with elliptical shape. The system developed consists of three modules. The first one os a 3-dimensional modeling module to calculate surface area for non-axisymmetric products. The second one is a blank design module that creates an oval-shaped blank with the identical surface area. The third one is a process planning module based on production rules that play the best important roles in an expert system for manufacturing. The production rules are generated and upgraded by interviewing with field engineers. Especially, drawing coefficient, punch and die radii are considered as main design parameters. The constructed system for elliptical deep drawing products would be very useful to reduce lead time and improve accuracy for production.

식도암의 외과적 치료 (Surgical treatment of esophageal cancer)

  • Between March 1978 and December 1985, 39 patients were admitted to our hospital & surgery was performed to 27 patients. Among 39 patients, male patients were 31 cases, female 8 cases and the age ranged from 42 years old to 69 yrs old with the average of 55 years old. Main symptoms of esophageal cancer were dysphagia [6%], weight loss [20%], retrosternal and epicardial discomfort [18%], hoarseness [13%], and hiccup [5%]. The anatomical locations of esophageal cancer were followed as; 51% in lower esophagus & cardia, 44% in middle, and 5% in upper esophagus. Among 27 cases, 5 cases were managed by feeding gastrostomy and jejunostomy due to inoperability, 19 cases by esophagogastrostomy, and 3 cases by colon bypass with the resection of esophageal cancer. Postoperative complications were noticed in 7 cases, such as anastomotic leakage in 2 cases [7%], respiratory insufficiency in 2 cases [7%], intussusception in 1 case [4%], wound dehiscence in 1 case [4%], and hepatitis in 1 case [4%]. Among 2 respiratory insufficiency, 2 patients die as a result of that complication and operative mortality was 7%.

  • The technologies of mold design, manufacturing, injection molding process and computer aided engineering(CAE) are developed rapidly with the growth of plastic product market. Injection molding process optimum design can not be easily determined. This study was determined factors and levels which carried out to analyze an influence of narrow pitch BGA socket warpage and performed investigating the main effect and interaction effect between factors using design of experiment. The result of this paper is injection time and packing pressure are affect on narrow pitch BGA socket warpage at injection molding.

A Single-Chip CMOS Digitally Synthesized 0-35 MHz Agile Function Generator

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of a single-chip digitally synthesized 0-35MHz agile function generator. The chip comprises an integrated direct digital synthesizer (DDS) with a 10-bit on- chip digital-to-analog converter (DAC) using an n-well single-poly triple-metal 0.5-$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS technology. The main features of the chip include maximum clock frequency of 100 MHz at 3.3-V supply voltage, 32-bit frequency tuning word resolution, 12-bit phase tuning word resolution, and an on-chip 10-bit DAC. The chip provides sinusoidal, ramp, saw-tooth, and random waveforms with phase and frequency modulation, and power-down function. At 100-MHz clock frequency, the chip covers a bandwidth from dc to 35 MHz in 0.0233-Hz frequency steps with 190-ns frequency switching speed. The complete chip occupies 12-mm$^2$die area and dissipates 0.4 W at 100-MHz clock frequency.

환경미화원의 건강과 안전 보호를 위한 제안 (Strategies for Protecting Waste Collectors' Health and Safety)

  • Recycling is a main issue in protection of the environment and waste collection and sorting have much higher value in current recycling policies than they did previously. Waste collectors, like firefighters and policemen, are working for the public benefit, however, waste collection is more dangerous than either police or firefighting work. In the USA, waste collectors are 10 times more likely than the average worker to die on the job. Waste collectors also suffer from musculoskeletal disorders, infectious diseases and various injuries. If we truly appreciate the worth of waste collectors, we need to improve their working environment and personal hygiene. Furthermore, abolishing discrimination will be a very important step towards greater protection for waste collectors.

  • Structural components for aerospace, electronics and automobile industry are the main applications for magnesium alloys due to their lightweight and high specific strength. The adoption of magnesium alloys in sheet forming processes is still limited, due to their low formability at room temperature caused by the hexagonal crystal structure. In this paper, the authors aim to improve the formability of AZ31 magnesium alloy. For this, experiment and finite element analysis on used warm deep drawing process with a local heating and cooling technique were done. Both die and blank holder were heated at various warm temperature while the punch was kept at room temperature by cooling water.

박판 변형률 측정 오차의 보정에 관한 연구 (Study on the Compensation of Strain Measurement Error in Sheet Metals)

  • In the sheet metal forming operations, the strain measurement of sheet panel is an essential work which provides the formability information needed in die design, process design, and product inspection. To measure efficiently complex geometry strains, the 3-dimensional automative strain measurement system, which theoretically has a high accuracy but practically has about 3~5% strain error, is often used. For eliminating the strain error resulted in measuring the strains of formed panels using an automated strain measurement system, the position error calibration method is suggested, which computes accurate strains using the grids with accurate nodal coordinates. The accurate nodal coordinates are calculated by adding the nodal coordinates measured by the measurement system and the position error found using the multiple regression method as a function of the main error parameters obtained from the analysis of strain error in a standard cube. For the verification, the strain distributions of square and dome cups obtained from the position error calibration method are compared with those provided by the finite element analysis and ASAME.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of three main chemical compositions(Mg, Zn, Si) on extrudability of 7xxx Al alloy with high tensile strength. A few Al alloys based on 7xxx alloys were metal mold cast with various weight*%) of Mg 0.3-1.2%, Zn 5.0-8.0% and Si 0.4-0.7%, to envestigate the effects of extrudability, as well as mechanical properties. To measure the extrudability of cast billets, maximum extrusion pressure and surface temperature at die exit before tearing occurs were obtained by experiment and simulation of thermo-viscoplastic F.E.M. Also the yield and tensile strength of extruded products were tested.
