We consider a problem of presort and loading of commercial bulk mails in a mailing service. Here, presort is the process by which a mailer prepares mail so that it is sorted to at least the finest extent required by the mailing service provider for the (discounted) price claimed. The problem is formulated as a special type of transportation problem. To solve industrial-sized problems, we develop an efficient heuristic algorithm and perform experimental tests on randomly generated problem instances. Results of the tests show that mailers can save mailing cost much more when they use small-sized mail trays with less frequent mailings. Also, large-sized mailers can obtain much more cost saving than small-sized mailers. In addition, cost saving effect is influenced by delivery area distribution of mails and fluctuation of mailing demand.

Korea Institute of Industry and Technology Information(KINITI) provides the mailing service(Techno-Radar) of information on new technologies, products, and industrial trends to activate information distribution and to build a customer-centered information providing system. The information is classified into the manufacture industry, knowledge industry, and general information. Users can receive these information of their interest via e-mails. This report describes the ways to post information and to register and also emphasizes the importance of providing original materials, analysis and evaluation data of the industries as well as the mailing service to set up a user-centered information service system in the future.

This study was conducted (i) to recommend the high-scored education method as a adaptable method, and (ii) to find the most influential factor among the three acceptability components (feasibility factor, stimulation factor and reliability factor) to urban or rural residents. The accept-ability score of each health education method currently existing in urban and rural area was estimated. A total of 257 households in Guro 6-dong, Seoul, and 233 households in Jeomdong-myeon, Yeoju-gun, were sampled by interview survey using questionnaire. The four types of health education methods used in this study are; printed matter method, mailing service method. personal contact method, and group contact method. The major findings obtained from this research are as follows; 1) In urban area, the highest-scored in terms of acceptability is the personal contact method, followed by the mailing service, the printed matter, and the group contact. The mailing service method is found to be effective especially for the intelligent group people. 2) In rural area, the highest-scored in terms of acceptability is also the personal contact method, followed by the group contact, and printed matter method. In general, the group contact method is effective toward both urban-poor and rural housewives (especially in stimulation factor). To improve the health consciousness of the residents, there arises the need for the existing education program into better organized and diversified one and for educating health-educators by providing in-depth health knowledge.

With the rapid advance of internet service and the corresponding migration of service environment from the text-based one to WWW (World Wide Web) environment, the number of internet users is growing rapidly due to its easy usage. Accordingly, usage of internet as services for sending electronic mails to the other party over the network is becoming increasingly prevalent. Web-based electronic mailing system is comprised of a server and a client. The former provides the users with e-mail accounts and services, while the latter serves as a user interface. In other words, it enables those public users who dos not own e-mail accounts on the existing mail server to have an access to the mailing service through the web. In this paper, we designed a effective web-based electronic mailing system which is based on the internet explorer and linux operating system, which overcomes limitations of the existing e-mail systems and meets the need of a cost-efficient alternative. Our electronic mailing system also supports the convenience of users through appropriate handling of preregistered spam e-mails and multiple e-mails, and this facilitates the development of a stable e-mail system by being able to avoiding the low system performance due to the bursty characteristics of e-mail messages and the increasing number of users

Many damages due to flow-accelerated corrosion and cracking have been observed during recent in-service inspections of nuclear power plants. To determine the operability or repair for damaged pipes, an integrity evaluation related to the damaged piping system should be performed by using already proven code and standards. One of them, the ASME Code Case is most popularly used to integrity assessment in nuclear power plants. However, the recent version of CC N-513 still recommends the simplified method which means a damaged elbow is assumed as an equivalent straight pipe. In addition, to enhance the accuracy integrity assessment in elbow, several previous studies recommend that the SIF and elastic COD values for an elbow with relatively large crack could be predicted by an interpolation technique. However, those estimates for elbow with relatively large crack might be derived to inaccurate results for crack growth analysis, such as for the allowable crack size and life estimation. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of crack length (0.3≤θ₁/π≤0.5) on SIF and elastic COD for elbow is systematically investigated. Then, for large crack in elbow, accurate estimates for SIF and elastic COD, which are widely used to assess the integrity of elbows, are proposed. Those proposed solutions are expected to be the technical basis for revisions of CC N-513-4 through the validation.

The relationship between a service provided via the information system and user satisfaction has been thought of as an important factor for the development of a new service for the information system. In this study, the twelve new key services that are applicable to national R&D report system were derived by web environment changes in step with IT technology developments in order to support the new service for the user. The twelve new key services are as follows; semantic search service for national R&D report, associated report service, RSS service, mesh-up service, topic-map service, open API service, personalized service, collective intelligence service, SNS service, unstructured data service, detailed search service, mailing service. To assess the quality attribute of the twelve new key services in the national R&D report system, a survey was performed. In conclusion, a stepwise service plan for the national R&D report system was proposed which would use the satisfaction coefficient and the results of the service classification. The following step-by-step service should be developed by in this way. The unstructured data service, personalized service, associated report service, topic-map service, open API service, and the collective intelligence service are needed to develop the first step and RSS service, mesh-up service, semantic search service for the national R&D report, mailing service, detailed search service, and SNS service are needed to develop the second step.

This paper describes real-time implementation of a multi-channel G.729A speech coder using a 16 bit fixed-point Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and its application to a Voice Mailing Service (VMS) system. TMS320C549 by Texas Instruments was used as a fixed point DSP chip and a 4 channel G.729A coder was implemented on the chip. The implemented coder required 14.5 MIPS for the encoder and 3.6 MIPS for the decoder at each channel. In addition, memories required by the coder were 9.88K words and 1.69K words for code and data sections, respectively. As a result, the developed VMS system that accommodates two DSP chips was able to support totally 8 channels. Experimental results showed that the our multi-channel coder passes all of test vectors provided by ITU-T.

There has been increasing of using Internet as time goes by, and it means that the analysis technique of appetence for the users logging into the internet system has been absolutely advanced. Keeping pace with the intense expansion of information, the mailing system is the one to be very busy on Internet service at the present time. This paper introduces to support users that carry handling account management easier by using virtual domain control on mail server. It also finds out the merit to get more efficient way to control the bunch of mails that classify into mail-box to users in advance.
