  • Addition of 2.0wt%$Dy_2O_3$ or 0.3wt%Sn proved to be very effective in improving the permanent magnetic properties of NdFeNbB magnets. $Dy_2O_3$ additions result in the increase in the Hci and temperature dependence due to formation of (NdDy)-rich phase and grain refinement of $\Phi$ phase. This improvement of the coercivity stability of the magnets from the addition of Sn is attributed to the smoothing effect of the Sn addition at the grain boundaries. The magnetic properties, the temperature dependence and Curie temperature of NdFeNbB with $Dy_2O_3$ and Sn combined addition were found to be considerably improved.

  • In many cases, ferrite magnets of ferrite bonded magnets used in inner-rotor type small brushless DC(BLDC) motors do not have rotor core. The magnetization directions of permanent magnets do not have only parallel or radial direction. In this case, the characteristics of magnets are different from cored type ones which have uniform magnetization direction. In this paper, the magnetization directions and intensities of a ferrite magnet and a ferrite bonded magnet are analyzed by finite element analysis for magnetization procedure. The characteristics of inner-rotor type BLDC motor are analyzed by using the analyzed results. The validity of the method is verified by comparing the analyzed results with measured ones.

  • By applying Current-applied Pressure-Assisted process, we could obtain full dense isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets from rapidly quenched MQP-A powder. The Nd contents are found to play an important role during the CA-press and CA-deformation process. The (BH)$\sub$max/ of CA-pressed and CA-deformed magnets are 131 kJ/㎥(16.5 MGOe) and 352 kJ/㎥(44.2 MGOe), respectively. The texture of CA-deformed anisotropic NdFeB magnets with thickness reduction was investigated by pole figure, and the (006) texture was increase with the increase of thickness reduction. With the increment in thickness reduction from 50%, 60% to 80%, W$\sub$50/ decreases from 76$\^$$^{\circ}$/, 62.5$\^$$^{\circ}$/ to 17$\^$$^{\circ}$/, respectively.

  • The detent force caused by the interaction of magnets with the teeth of a armature core deteriorates the driving performance of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. In this paper, we analyze the fields and forces of a linear synchronous motor with segmented or skewed magnet arrangement according to lateral overhang length of permanent magnets. For the analysis, the 3-dimensional equivalent magnetic circuit network method is used. The detent force and the static thrust are analyzed according to the segmented or skewed angle and the overhang length of permanent magnets, and the optimal angles that the detent force is minimized are found out in each case. The analysis results are compared with the experimental ones and shown a reasonable agreement.

  • The kicker modulator was upgraded and installed in 1995. The PLS-II injection kicker modulator is configured with series resonant circuit. A total of four kicker magnets are used to distribute the normal storage ring beam orbit toward the septum magnet wall. Only one kicker modulator is used to drive the four kicker magnets. It is not adjust the current magnitude and timing of magnets. During the kicking, the beam has oscillation of 2 mm horizontal direction and $200{\mu}m$ vertical direction in present injector system. Our goals is to decrease the oscillation less than $300{\mu}m$. To give balanced current for all four magnets and to have precise timing between magnet current, we have plan to divide kicker power supply into four individual power supply. In this paper, the design of new individual kicker power supply and Fabrication of the new injector system is presented.

  • The accidental swallowing of foreign body is a common problem in the children. We describe the case of 37-month-old girl in whom a gastric ulcer was caused by the ingestion of three magnets. This case report demonstrates that if more than one magnet were swallowed, they should be removed even if there are no sharp edges and small size. Because the magnets will attract each other and hold the intestinal walls between them, causing necrosis and resulting in intestinal perforation or a fistula.

  • The objective of this investigation is to formulate and carry out the topology optimization of a magnetic system consisting of permanent magnets and yokes. Earlier investigations on magnetic field topology optimization have been limited on the design optimization of yokes or permanent magnets alone. After giving the motivation for the simultaneous design of permanent magnets and yokes, we develop the topology optimization formulation of the coupled system by extending the technique used in structural problems. In the present development, we will also examine the effects of the functional form for permeability penalization on the optimized topology.

  • Using the current-applied pressure-assisted (CAPk) process, we could obtain fully dense isotropic and anisotropic NdFeB magnets from rapidly quenched MQP-A powder. The Nd content is found to play an important role during the current applied (CA)-pressing and CA-deformation processes. The $(BH)_max$ of CA-pressed and CA-deformed magnets are 131 kJ/$m^3$ (16.5 MGOe) and 352 kJ/$m^3$(44.2 MGOe), respectively. The change in texture of CA-deformed anisotropic NdFeB magnets with thickness reduction was investigated by pole figures and the (006) texture was found to increase with greater thickness reductions. As the thickness reduction increases from 50% to 60% to 80%, $W_50$ (the average angle of the contour with 50% intensity) decreases from $76^\circ$to $62.5^\circ$to $17^\circ$.
