Pigment red 53:1 is a dye used in various products as a component of the inks, suspected of being carcinogenic. Thus, the environmental and occupational issues related to it are important. The enzyme-based approach with reusability has advantages to consume less energy and generate less harsh side- products compared to the conventional strategies including separations, microbe, and electrochemical treatment. The degradation of Pigment red 53:1 by the lignin peroxidase immobilized on the surface of magnetic particles has been studied. The immobilization of the peroxidase was conducted on magnetic particle surface with the treatment of polyethyleneimine, glutaraldehyde, and the peroxidase, in sequence. The immobilization was confirmed using X-ray photon spectroscopy. The absorbance peak of the pigment was monitored at 495 nm of UV/Vis spectrum with respect to time to calculate the catalytic activities of the pigment for the immobilized lignin peroxidase. For the comparison, the absorbance of the lignin peroxidase free in solution was also monitored. The catalytic rate constant values for the free lignin peroxidases and the immobilized those were 0.51 and $0.34min^{-1}$, respectively. The reusable activity for the immobilized lignin peroxidase was kept to 92% after 10 cycles. The stabilities for heat and storage were also investigated for both cases.

This study is implemented as a sensor-less position controller capable of multi-turn detection to replace the expensive absolute encoder used in the turret servo system. For sensor-less control, the position information of the rotor is essential. For this, a magnetic flux estimator was implemented from the mathematical model of IPMSM used in the turret servo system. The position of the rotor and the angular velocity of the rotor were obtained using the rotor magnetic flux calculated from the magnetic flux estimator. Using the zero-crossing technique, one pulse was generated for each rotation of the estimated rotor magnetic flux to measure the number of multi-turns. Simulation and experiment results confirmed the usefulness of the proposed method.
This paper deals with the control of magnetic field around the down conductor of lightning protection systems. The magnetic field strength in the vicinity of down conductor is shown to drop off rapidly with distance from the down conductor and is reversely proportional to the number of down conductor. Also the magnetic field strength is decreased in the structures as the down conductor is installed with the symmetrical arrangement, and it is zero at the center of symmetry. The magnetic field strengths for the symmetrical arrangement of two down conductors are less than one half compared with that for a down conductor. A proper arrangement of down conductor can reduce or cancel the magnetic field in a restricted place where information-oriented and computerized facilities are densely installed.
This research described the magnetic method for the rapid removal of green algae in water. We modified the pH, cation concentration, and magnetic powder concentration to discover the best removal performance. In order to rapidly remove green algae from water, we added magnetic powder and chitosan into algae water to make a magnetic substance and this was extracted by a strong neodymium magnet. The optimized conditions were pH of 6.5-7.5, chitosan concentration of 10 mg/L, and magnetite powder concentration of less than 0.05%. A higher removing rate was observed when a higher amount of magnetite or chitosan was used, but the total amounts of phosphorus or nitrogen were not decreased.
For heat-assisted magnetic recording, magnetization reversal probabilities of nano-Pt/MnSb multilayer film with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy under thermal pulse activation were investigated numerically by solving the Landau-Lifshift Gilbert Equation. Magnetic parameters of nano-Pt/MnSb multilayer were used with anisotropy energy of $3{\times}10^5$ erg/cc and saturation magnetization of 2100 G, which offer more than 10 y data stability at room temperature. Scheme of driven magnetic field and thermal pulse on writing mechanism was designed closely to real experiment. This study found that the chosen material is potential to be used as a high density magnetic storage that requires low writing field less than two-hundreds Oersted through definite heating and cooling interval. The possibility of writing data with a zero driven magnetic field also became an important result. Further study is recommended on the thickness of media and thermal pulse design as the essential parameters of the reversal magnetization.

The multi degree of freedom system using magnetic levitation has been implemented successfully. Differently from another noncontact systems, the developed system was focused on the maximization of the system stiffness under the constraint of a limited input. The variation of a relative adopting point between the magnetic pair, its location on the fixed base, and the selection of optimal specifications for the main active magnetic elements give us another chance to realize the increased robustness against external disturbances with the less control inputs. In this paper, the overall development procedures are given including the optimal design, the dynamic modeling, the various control tests, and the main issues to be solved.
Three typical solvent suppression methods employed for measuring the NOE data that are used for structure determination of polypeptides by modeling were discussed and compared with one another. In the experiments with several peptides composed of 10 to 65 amino acids the presaturation method was found to give severely distorted signal intensities of exchangeable protons, thus making the results based on this method much less reliable.
A three-dimensional magnetostatic problem is analyzed using the boundary element method and the magnetic scalar potential are employed in order to reduce the size of system matrix. Although the total magnetic scalar potential gives very accurate solutions in inner and outer regions of magnetic material, it has limitation on application because the magnetic scalar potential due to applied magnetic field sources is hard to be obtained. The reduced magnetic scalar potential gives more or less inaccurate solutions inside the magnetic material but very accurate solutions outside. Hence it can be concluded that the reduced magnetic scalar potential is very useful when the magnetic fields of outside magnetic material only are interested. It is also shown, from the numerical results, that the linear shape function gives more efficient solutions than the constant shape functions because the former gives more accurate solutions in spite of relatively fewer unknowns than the latter.

Magnetic relaxation properties of pure MgB2 powder samples and diluted water-treated MgB2 powder samples were investigated. The magnetic field H-dependence, m(H), and the time t-dependence, m(t), of the magnetic moment m were measured and analyzed using the PPMS-VSM magnetometer equipment, respectively. The m(t) reduction rates of pure MgB2 powder samples and diluted water-treated MgB2 powder samples decreased to about 0.7 ~ 1.8% and 0.6 ~ 1.0% for about 7200 s, respectively, at temperature T = 15 K. The magnetic relaxation properties of the two types of MgB2 powders were analyzed by calculating the magnetic relaxation rate S = -dln(Mirr)/dln(t) values according to Anderson-Kim theory. The magnetic relaxation ratio S values of the two types of MgB2 powder samples were almost similar. As a result of the quantum creep effect, the constant magnetic relaxation rate S characteristic was confirmed at a temperature range of T = 10 K or less.

Coated conductor is an important candidate for power cable applications due to its high current density. Even for DC power cable transmission, we must study the transport properties of HTS tapes after slow and fast discharge. In order to evaluate relation of the magnetic field with applied current we developed a scanning magnetic field measurements system by employing a Hall probe. This work presents the measurements of the magnetic fields above a coated conductor by varying applied current pattern. In the work, a transport current of 100 A, less than the critical current, is applied to YBCO coated conductor. We measured the residual magnetic field distributions after cut off the transport current with slow and fast operations. The results show differences of the magnetic field profiles and the corresponding current profiles by an inverse solution from the magnetic field measurement between these two operations because of the hysteresis of coated conductor excited by the transport current.
