  • Combination of magnetic recording technology and optical recording technology such as Near Field Optical Recording is watched recently. In order to accomplish this technology, the development of an electromagnetic driven mm-sized mirror shifting laser beam in track direction have to needed. In Near Field Optical Recording System, shifting laser beam in track direction mean as fine tracking and means as coarse tracking. Therefore in Near Field Optical Recording, 2-stage actuator is composed of servo controller in reading or recording information on disc layer. In our research, through design and simulation process of driven mm-sized mirror, we arrange systematically design process of driven mm-sized mirror having good frequency transfer characteristics. Design and simulation processes included modal analysis of spring, calculation of magnetic moment according to the number of turns and geometric configuration of coil and magnetic circuit analysis meaning that calculation of magnetic flux density in air gap of magnetic circuit. After that we design and make parts of driven mm-sized mirror, assemble and evaluate our electriomagnetic driven mm-sized mirror. we compared design values with actual characteristic values and present solution scheme. Through these processes we performed manufacturing of an electromagnetic driven mm-sized mirror having good frequency-domain characteristics and high sensitivity characteristics.

  • Antiferromagnet (AFM)/ferromagnet (FM) bilayer structures are widely used in the magnetic devices of sensor and memory applications, as AFM materials can induce unidirectional anisotropy of the FM material via exchange coupling. The strength of the exchange coupling is known to be sensitive to quality of the interface of the AFM/FM bilayers. In this study, we utilize proton irradiation to modify the interface structures and investigate its effect on the magnetic properties of AFM/FM structures, including the exchange bias and magnetic thermoelectric effect. The magnetic properties of IrMn/CoFeB structures with various IrMn thicknesses are characterized after they are exposed to a proton beam of 3 MeV and $1{\sim}5{\times}10^{14}ions/cm^2$. We observe that the magnetic moment is gradually reduced as the amount of the dose is increased. On the other hand, the exchange bias field and thermoelectric voltage are not significantly affected by proton irradiation. This indicates that proton irradiation has more of an influence on the bulk property of the FM CoFeB layer and less of an effect on the IrMn/CoFeB interface.

  • Microfluidic chips are new devices that can manipulate liquids at the micrometer level, and terahertz (THz) time-domain spectroscopy has good applicability in biochemical detection. The combination of these two technologies can shorten the distance between sample and THz wave, reduce THz wave absorption by water, and more effectively analyze the kinetics of biochemical reactions in aqueous solutions. This study investigates the effects of different external magnetic field intensities on the THz transmission characteristics of deionized water, CuSO4, CuCl2, (CH3COO)2Cu, Na2SO4, NaCl, and CH3COONa; the THz spectral intensity of the sample solutions decrease with increasing intensity of the applied magnetic field. Analysis shows that the magnetic field leads to a change in the dipole moment of water molecules in water and electrolyte solutions, which enhances not only the hydrogen-bond networking ability of water but also the hydration around ions in electrolyte solutions, increasing the number of hydrogen bonds. Increasing the intensity of this magnetic field further promotes the hydrogen-bond association between water molecules, weakening the THz transmission intensity of the solution.

  • It is well known that the equiatomic FeAl alloy crystallizes in a paramagnetic CsCl structure and is very stable in a wide temperature range owing to a significant charge transfer from Al to Fe. A presence of structural defects normally enhances the magnetic and magneto-optical properties of this alloy. In this study spin-resolved photoemission and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) were carried out on both ordered and disordered $Fe_{0.52}Al_{0.48}$ alloy films. The disordered state in the alloy films was obtained by a vapor quenching deposition on cooled substrates. It is shown that the order-disorder transition in the Fe0.52Al0.48 alloy films leads to a significant change in the spin polarization. Form the MCD results the orbital and spin magnetic moments of the constituent atoms are obtained. According to the sum rule the spin and orbital magnetic moments of Fe in the disordered FeAl film are $\mu\frac{SR}{spin}=0.8\mu_B$ and $\mu\frac{SR}{orb}=0.14\mu_B$ respectively. The spin magnetic moment is also evaluated to be $\mu\frac{BR}{spin}=0.77\mu_B$ by the branching ration method employing a photon polarization of 90%.

  • In this paper, the solutions of TM (transverse magnetic) scattering problems by perfectly conducting strip grating on two dielectric layers are analyzed by applying the FGMM (Fourier Galerkin moment method) as a numerical method. For the TM scattering problem, the induced surface current density is expected to the very high value at both edges of the strip, then the induced surface current density on the strip is expanded in a series of the multiplication of the functions of appropriate edge boundary condition and the Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. The numerical results are obtained for the magnitude of induced current density, the normalized reflected power and transmitted power. The numerical results using proposed functions were improved the convergence faster than existing exponential functions, and the numerical results shown the good agreement compared to those of the existing papers.

  • We measured in-plane 2 dimensional magnetization vector using two pick-up coil sets and investigate the relationship between magnetization vector and anisotropic magnetoresistance. We can determine magnetization vector by measuring magnetic moment in x and y direction simultaneously. As the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of permalloy film increases, magnetoresistance approaches the expectation which is calculated from the angle between current vector and magnetization vector. Magnetoresistance ratio is linearly proportional to the y moment magnitude which is parallel to the current direction.

  • A series of samples in the Sm1-xSrxCoO3-y(x=0.00, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.00) system has been prepared at 1200 ℃ under ambient atmosphere. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the samples with x=0.00 and 0.25 are indexed with orthorhombic symmetry like GdFeO3 and x=0.50 appears to be perfectly cubic. In the tetragonal system (x=0.75), the structure is similar to that of SrCoO2.80. The composition of x=1.00, SrCoO2.52, shows the brownmillerite-type structure. The reduced lattice volume is increased with x value in this system. The chemical analysis shows the τ value (the amount of the Co4+ ions in the system) is maximized at the composition of x=0.50. Nonstoichiometric chemical formulas are determined by the x, τ and y values. The electrical conductivity has been measured in the temperature range of 78 to 1000 K. The activation energy is minimum for those of x=0.25 and x=0.50 with metallic behavior. First-order semiconductor-to-metal transition of SmCoO3 is not observed. Instead, a broad, high-order semiconductor-to-metal transition is observed. In general, the effective magnetic moment is increased with increasing τ values at low temperature. At high temperature, the magnetic moment is maximum for that of x=0.00. The 3d-electrons are collective and give ferromagnetism in x=0.50.

  • In this paper, TM(tranverse magnetic) electromagnetic scattering problems for resitive strip grating between grounded double dielectric layers are analyzed by using the FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method) and PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic field. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients, the resistive boundary condition is applied to analysis of resistive strip. Overall, when the unoform resistivity decreased, the magnitude of the current density induced in the resistive strip increased, and the reflected power also increased. Also, as the thickness and relative permittivity of the double dielectric layers increased, the overall reflected power increased. The numerical results obtained by using the numerical methods of FGMM and PMM to the structure proposed in this paper agree very well.

  • In this paper, the solutions of TE(transverse electric) scattering problems by a resistive strip grating over a grounded dielectric layer are analyzed by applying the PMM(point matching method) known as a numerical method of electromagnetic fileld. The boundary conditions are applied to obtain the unknown field coefficients and the resistive boundary condition is used for the relationship between the tangential magnetic field and the induced surface current density on the resistive strip. The induced surface current density of resistive strip is obtained by difference of the up and down of the magnetic field in two boundary areas of the resistive strip. The numerical results for reflected power of zeroth order mode analyzed by according as the resistivity, the width and spacing of resistive strip, the relative permittivity and thickness of dielectric layer, and incident angles. The numerical results shown in good agreement compared to those of the existing papers using FGMM(fourier galerkin moment method).

  • Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of regioregular (>99%) poly(3-dodecylthiopenes are investigated. Faraday rotation of spin-coated films show extremely large Verdet constants, falling strongly with decreasing regioregularity. EPR spectroscopy at room temperature shows the presence of about 1 spin/190 monomers, indicative of delocalisation beyond a single polymer chain. SQUID measurements on the polymer give an effective magnetic moment of about 48900 mB, corrsponding to a S-value of 25.000. The Weiss-constant is 1.33 K indicating ferromagnetic coupling. Our experimental results show that organic polymer magnets can be prepared. Large MO effects allow the use of these materials in all-organic MO-sensors and devices.
