The finite element method is very flexible for new shapes and provides flux distribution, magnetomotive force, eddy currents, and torques. However, it requires lengthy computational time in order to achieve desired accuracy. The magnetic equivalent circuit method takes less computation time than the finite element method. Therefore, the finite element method is mainly used to confirm the completed design. The magnetic equivalent circuit method is convenient for complicated analysis of the transient state of the induction motor. The magnetic equivalent circuit method is restricted to only one direction of magnetic flux. In this paper, the construction elements (that is, stator iron, rotor iron, yoke, air gap, etc.) of the squirrel cage induction motor were represented by a flux tube and the air gap magnetomotive force was calculated by the magnetic equivalent circuit method. Starting transient torque and phase current of the squirrel cage induction motor were verified by the theoretical calculation and the experiment.
This study measured the velocity of magnetic particles inside the power generation using external heat sources. Single Plane Illumination Microscopy (SPIM) was used to measure magnetic particles that are simultaneously affected by bubbly flow and magnetic field. It has the advantage of reducing errors due to particle superposition by illuminating the thin light sheet. The hydraulic diameter of the power generation is 3mm. Its surface is covered with a coil with a diameter of 0.3 mm. The average diameter of a magnetic particle is 200nm. The excitation and emission wavelengths are 530 and 650nm, respectively. In order to find out the flow characteristics, a total of four velocity fields were calculated in wide and narrow gap air bubbles, between the wall and the air bubble and just below the air bubble. Magnetic particles showed up to 8.59% velocity reduction in the wide gap between air bubbles due to external magnetic field.
This paper proposes an effective assistant model for considering the stator slot-opening effect on air gap flux density distribution in conventional interior-type permanent magnet (IPM) motor. Different from the conventional slot-opening effect analysis in surface-type PM (SPM) motor, a composite effect of slot-opening uniquely existing in IPM motor, which additionally causes enhancement of air gap flux density due to magnet flux path distortion in iron core between the buried PM and rotor surface. This phenomenon is represented by a proposed assistant model, which simply deals with this additional effect by modifying magnetic pole-arc using an effective method. The validity of this proposed analytical model is applied to predict the air gap flux density distribution in an IPM motor model and confirmed by finite element method (FEM).
The basic element of the EMS suspension is the electromagnet system, which suspends the vehicle without contact by attracting forces to the rails at the guideway. The suspension of a vehicle by attractive magnetic forces is inherently unstable and consequently it is continuously adjusted by the strength of the suspending electromagnet from rail irregularity and bending of the guideway. In order to improve reliable tracking, it needs to get feedback signals without measurement delay time. In this paper the concept of feedback control system with Kalman Filter in EMS is proposed. The input signals in the feedback control system are an air-gap and an acceleration signal. The air-gap signal with noise from the gap sensor is transformed to the filtered air-gap signal y without measurement delay time by using Kalman Filter. The filtered air-gap signal is transformed to a relative velocity and a relative acceleration signal. Then it multiplies these values by gain matrix in order to get the actuator's reference voltage value. The simulation results show that the dynamic responses of the suspension system can be improved by reducing the influence of measurement delay time of air-gap signals.
Double-side linear pulse motor(DSLPM) has more advantages than single-side linear pulse motor because noise and vibration can be considerably decreased by countervailing the normal forces, which is generated between two stators and mover. However, DSLPM has more complicated magnetic flux path and layout of stator pole toot/mover tooth rather than single-side linear pulse motor In this paper, DSLPM is designed and fabricated by considering the air gap magnetic density, shape of tooth and slot. In order to verify the characteristics of DSLPM, the air gap magnetic flux density is analyzed by 2D FEM and the magnetic flux path is analyzed by 3D FEM. Also the static thrust forces is obtained with the analyzed results.
The article presents the results and findings obtained through the assembly of opposing linear Halbach arrays from two magnet layers using large magnetic blocks from permanent NdFeB magnets, especially concerning the distribution of magnetic induction in an air gap. The use of these large blocks has led to a significant expansion of the area of magnetic field with a substantially higher value of magnetic induction in comparison with similar linear Halbach arrays composed of small magnets. The paper also discusses the determined dependences of magnetic induction on the parameters of the x, y, z coordinate system and indicates the possibilities of achieving an even stronger magnetic field in a larger volume of an air gap for application for instance in equipment for magnetic separation of raw materials, in instrument technologies and in other areas.
Cogging torque is often a principal source of vibration, noise and difficulty of control in permanent-magnet brushless DC motors. Cogging torque can be minimized by sinusoidal air-gap flux density waveform because it is produced by the interaction of the rotor magnetic flux and angular variation in the stator magnetic reluctance. Therefore, this paper will present a design method of magnetization system of bonded isotropic neodynium-iron-boron(Nd-Fe-B) magnets in ring type with sinusoidal air-gap flux density distribution and low manufacturing cost. An analytical technique of magnetization makes use of two-dimensional finite element method(2D FEM) and Preisach model that expresses the hysteresis phenomenon of magnetic materials in order for accurate calculation.
This paper concerns on one-DOF non-rotating active magnetic bearing (AMB) system subject to base motion. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the axis within the predetermined air-gap while the base motion forces the axis to deviate from the desired air-gap. Motivated from this, an optimal acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response without deteriorating other feedback control performances. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed optimal feedforward control reduces the standard deviation of the air-gap to 29% that by feedback control alone.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the united Electromagnetic characteristics for the effective monitoring on the static air-gap eccentricity (SAGE) of turbo-generator. Different from other studies, this paper not only studies on the unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP) and the vibration characteristics of the stator and the rotor, but also investigates the harmonic features of the magnetic flux density and the circulating current inside the parallel branches (CCPB). The theoretical calculation, together with the finite-element-method (FEM) simulation and the experiment verification, is taken for a SDF-9 type non-salient generator. It is shown that, when SAGE occurs, apparent double-frequency UMP and vibrations will be produced both on the stator and the rotor, while the CCPB will have an obvious increment at the $1^{st}$ harmonic component. In addition, the amplitude of the magnetic flux density will be of cosine distribution in the circumferential position of the air-gap, while in normal condition it is a constant. Moreover, the pass-band amplitude, together with the $1^{st}$ harmonic of the magnetic flux density, will be enlarged as well. These united electromagnetic characteristics can be used as the diagnosis and monitoring criterion for SAGE.
Magnetically suspended control & sensitive gyroscope (MSCSG) is a novel type of gyroscope with the integration of attitude control and attitude angular measurement. To improve the precision and reduce the power consumption of Lorentz Force-type Magnetic Bearing (LFMB), the air gap flux density distribution of LFMB has been studied. The uniformity of air gap flux density is defined to qualify the uniform degree of the air gap flux density distribution. Considering the consumption, the average value of flux density is defined as well. Some optimal designs and analyses of LFMB are carried out by finite element simulation. The strength of the permanent magnet is taken into consideration during the machining process. To verify the design and simulation, a high-precision instrument is employed to measure the 3-dimensional magnetic flux density of LFMB. After measurement and calculation, the uniform degree of magnetic flux density distribution reaches 0.978 and the average value of the flux density is 0.482T. Experimental results show that the optimal design is effective and some useful advice can be obtained for further research.
