  • The dominant magnetization reversal behavior of electrodeposited CoPt samples with various thicknesses deposited at different current densities was the domain wall motion by means of wall pinning. The magnetic interaction mechanism was dipolar interaction for all samples. The dipolar interaction strength was significantly affected by the sample thickness rather than by the current density, while the magnetic properties were closely related to the current density.

  • The electro-magnetic vector equation(F=$qv{\times}B$ ; F:force, B:magnetic field, q:plus charge, v :velocity of the charge) explains well about the rotations of electron and positron under the magnetic field[Ref.1], as in Fig.1(a). Because the electro-magnetic wave is also a motion of the alternating charge and magnetic field as in Fig.2, the force vector has all the time inwarding direction and then the wave has a rotating motion. The positron in the proton has constant charge and alternating one at the same time[Ref.2] and then the alternating charge makes the absorbing force with the alternating charge of the rotating wave ($\pi$-ray) around the nucleus[Ref.2]. • This paper concerns on application of active magnetic bearing(AMB) system to levitate the elevation axis of an electro-optical sight mounted on moving vehicles. In such a system, it is desirable to retain the elevation axis within the predetermined air-gap while the vehicle is moving. An optimal base acceleration feedforward control is proposed to reduce the base motion response. In the consideration of the uncertainty of the system model, a filtered-x least-mean-square(FXLMS) algorithm is used to estimate the frequency response function of the feedforward control which cancels base motions. The frequency response function is fitted to an optimal feedforward control. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control reduces the air-gap deviation to 27.7% that by feedback control alone.

  • In this paper, an investigation of a room temperature active magnetic regenerative refrigerator is carried out. Experimental apparatus includes two active magnetic regenerators containing 186 g of Gd spheres. Four E-type thermocouples are installed inside the Active magnetic regenerator(AMR) to observe the instantaneous temperature variation of AMR. Both warm and cold heat exchangers are designed for large temperature span. The cold heat exchanger, which separates the two AMRs, employs a copper tube with length of 80 mm and diameter of 6.35 mm. In order to minimize dead volume between the warm heat exchanger and AMRs, the warm heat exchangers are located close to the AMRs. The deionized water is used as a heat transfer fluid, and maximum 1.4 T magnetic field is supplied by Halbach array of permanent magnets. The AMR plate, which contains the warm and the cold heat exchangers and the AMRs, has reciprocating motion using a linear actuator and each AMR is alternatively magnetized and demagnetized by a Halbach array of permanent magnet. Since the gap of the Halbach array of permanent magnets is 25 mm and two warm heat exchangers have the motion through it, a compact printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) is used as a warm heat exchanger. A maximum no-load temperature span of 26.8 K and a maximum cooling power of 33 W are obtained from the fabricated Active Magnetic Regenerative Refrigerator (AMRR).

  • To increase the operating speed of the solenoid actuator, this paper proposed a modified model using a non-magnetic ring, which is welded on the magnetic guide tube, and also presents the characteristic equations, results of Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis for magnetic flux distribution and density in magnetic flux paths, and computer simulation results for the dynamic characteristics of plunger motion according to the stroke and time variation. As well, we proved the non-magnetic ring effect by experiments using prototypes.

  • MR(magnetic resonance) image of moving organ such as heart shows serious distortion of MR image due to motion itself. To eliminate motion artifacts, MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) scan sequences requires a trigger pulse like ECG(electro-cardiography) R-wave. ECG-gating using cardiac cycle synchronizes the MRI sequence acquisition to the R-wave in order to eliminate image motion artifacts. In this paper, we designed ECG/PPG(photo-plethysmography) gating system which is for eliminating motion artifacts due to moving organ. This system uses nonmagnetic carbon electrodes, lead wire and shield case for minimizing RF(radio-frequency) pulse and gradient effect. Also, we developed a ECG circuit for preventing saturation by magnetic field and a finger plethysmography sensor using optic fiber. And then, gating pulse is generated by adaptive filtering based on NLMS(normalized least mean square) algorithm. To evaluate the developed system, we measured and compared MR imaging of heart and neck with and without ECG/PPG gating system. As a result, we could get a clean image to be used in clinically. In conclusion, the designed ECG/PPG gating system could be useful method when we get MR imaging of moving organ like a heart.

  • Gradient moment nulling techniques require the introduction of an additional gradient on each axis for each order of motion correction to be applied. The additional gradients introduce new constraints on the sequence design and increase the demands on the gradient system. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate techniques for optimization of gradient echo gradient moment nulling sequences within the constraints of the gradient hardware. Flow compensated pulse sequences were designed and implemented on a clinical magnetic resonance imaging system. The design of the gradient moment nulling sequences requires the solution of a linear system of equations. A Mathematica package was developed that interactively solves the gradient moment nulling problem. The package allows the physicist to specify the desired order of motion compensation and the duration of the gradients in the sequence with different gradient envelopes. The gradient echo sequences with first, second, and third order motion compensation were implemented with minimum echo time. The sequences were optimized to take full advantage of the capabilities of the gradient hardware. The sequences were used to generate images of phantoms and human brains. The optimized sequences were found to have better motion compensation than comparable standard sequences.

  • Recently, many linear motion generators and motors are rapidly finding applications that ranges from short stroke linear motion vibrators, such as dynamic cone type loudspeakers to stirling engine driven linear reciprocating alternators, compressors, textile machines etc. The stroke-length may go up to 2m, and the maximum speed is in the range of 5 to 10m/s with oscillating frequency as high as 15 kHz. Therefore, the linear oscillating actuators(LOAs) may be considered as variable speed drivers of precise controller with stoke-length and reversal periods during the reciprocating motion. In this paper, the design, fabrication, experiments, and extraction of control parameters of a moving coil type LOA for driving of linear reciprocating motion control systems, are treated. The actuator consists of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator produced magnetic field, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular bobbin structure, and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. Actually, the design is accomplished by using FEM analysis for the basic configuration of a magnetic circuit, and characteristic equations for coil design. In order to apply as the drivers of a linear motion reciprocating control system, the control parameters and circuit parameters, such as input voltage-stoke, exciting frequency-stoke, coil inductance and so on, are extracted from the analysis and experiments on concerning a fabricating LOA.

  • Development of a locomotive mechanism for the capsule type endoscopes will largely enhance the ability to diagnose disease of digestive organs. In connection with it, most of the researches have focused on an installable locomotive mechanism in the capsule. In this paper, it is introduced that the movement of a capsule type endoscope in digestive organ can be manipulated by magnetic force produced outside human body. Since the magnetic force is provided by permanent magnets, no additional power supply to the capsule is required. Using a robotic manipulator for locating the external magnet, the capsule motion control system can cover the whole human digestive organs. This study is particularly concentrated on dither motion effect to improve the mobility of capsule type endoscope. It was experimentally found out that the friction coefficient between the capsule and digestive organ can be remarkably reduced by superposing yawing or rolling dither motion on the translatory motion. In this paper, the experimental results obtained while the direction, amplitude and frequency of sinusoidal dither motion were changed are reported.
