Wireless power transmission using LC resonant with cores (자기 유도 방식과 LC 공진을 이용한 무선 전력 전송기기)

  • Wireless power transmission introduced by Tesla has instrumented by many scientists of the world. This technique first was utilized as wireless communications such as radio in long range transmission. And contactless transmission using inductive property was used on white goods. In 2007, MIT' lab introduced that new wireless power transmission by magnetic resonance which has about 50% efficiency and 2M transmission distances, it was a chance to refocus a new possibility of wireless power transmission. In this paper, using LC coupling compensate the short distances of contactless transmission, this simple method could transmit about 30cm distances. Using this approach, it can be solved the short transmission distances, a drawback of Electromagnetic inductive coupling method.

  • Inductive sensors are versatile and economical devices that are widely used to measure a wide variety of physical variables, such as displacement, force, and pressure. In this paper, we propose a simple inductive sensor consisting of a thin partial ring and a coil set. The self-inductance of the sensor was estimated using magnetic circuit analysis and validated through finite element analysis (FEA). The natural frequency of the ring was estimated using Castigliano's theorem and the method of equivalent mass. The estimation was validated through experiments and FEA. A prototype sensor with a signal processing circuit is built and applied to noninvasively sense the pressure inside a flexible tube. The obtained sensor outputs show quadratic behavior with respect to the pressure. When fitted to a quadratic equation, the least-square measurement error was less than 2%. The results confirm the feasibility of pressure sensing using the proposed inductive sensor.

  • Wireless power transfer (WPT) is the technology that enables the power to transmit electromagnetic field to an electrical load without the use of wires. There are two kinds of magnetic resonant coupling and inductive coupling ways transmitting from the source to the output load. Compared with microwave method for energy transfer over a long distance, the magnetic resonance method has the advantages of reducing the barrier of electromagnetic wave and enhancing the efficiency of power transmission. In this paper, the wireless power transfer circuit having a resonant frequency of 13.45 MHz for the low power system is studied, and the hardware implementation is accomplished to measure the power transmission efficiency for the distance between the transmitter and the receiver.

Cascaded Multi-Level Inverter Based IPT Systems for High Power Applications

  • A single phase H-bridge inverter is employed in conventional Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) systems as the primary side power supply. These systems may not be suitable for some high power applications, due to the constraints of the power electronic devices and the cost. A high-frequency cascaded multi-level inverter employed in IPT systems, which is suitable for high power applications, is presented in this paper. The Phase Shift Pulse Width Modulation (PS-PWM) method is proposed to realize power regulation and selective harmonic elimination. Explicit solutions against phase shift angle and pulse width are given according to the constraints of the selective harmonic elimination equation and the required voltage to avoid solving non-linear transcendental equations. The validity of the proposed control approach is verified by the experimental results obtained with a 2kW prototype system. This approach is expected to be useful for high power IPT applications, and the output power of each H-bridge unit is identical by the proposed approach.

  • This research aims at developing a new method which can replace the existing method. known as the quality factor(Q factor) method by an L-R-C test for use in the performance test of inductive loop detectors(ILD) being installed and maintained. In this study, a sensor to detect a magnetic field in terms of frequency and intensity, a method to collect field data, the method of analysis, and the method of diagnosis were developed. An automatic diagnosis system which was developed to overcome those drawbacks has the following features : First, field data is collected automatically by a test vehicle equipped with magnetic field sensors that is running can be said to along the roadway and. thus, the new system completely overcome the roadway and, thus, the new system can be said to completely overcome the inefficiency of the existing method second, since the magnetic fold generated from the ILD is the final output of the whole system of ILD, the existing problem has been solved. third. since each of the detection area by height is collected by the magnetic sensors installed by height. a basic for the identification of the vehicle types to be detectable and the setting of adjustment factors has been made. For the automatic diagnosis system developed during in this study, a reliability test was carried out by comparing vehicle times of ILD installed ideally.

  • The dc reactor type superconducting fault current limiter is composed of a power converter, magnetic core reactors and a do reactor that is a superconducting coil. When a fault occurs, the dc reactor maintains the stability of system by limiting its fault current. In this study, we focus on the design of the dc reactor using FEM(Finite Element Method). In order to design it, various elements should be considered such as magnetic field intensity, Lorentz's force, its inductance and so forth. Firstly, we forecast the values of those elements from the simulation of FEM and then measured with a copper wire magnet. Finally, verify the reliability of this FEM method by comparing with two results.

A Study on Development of Inductive Sensor System for Locating Geared Part and Gear Position in Geared Shaft (기어 축의 기어 및 이 끝 위치 판별을 위한 유도형 센서시스템의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • An inductive sensor system is proposed to detect the gear location and angular position of a geared shaft for automatic feeding of the shaft into the proper cutting position of the other end. The system consists of two set of coils, bridge circuit, signal condition circuit, and microprocessor. The coil sensors of the system measure changes of inductance along with the surface position of a geared shaft. The inductance changes are transformed to voltages by the bridge circuit, which are then conditioned and processed for the recognition of the gear. In order to incorporate with the experimental results with the sensor system, a finite element method (FEM) simulation for the magnetic field between the sensor and the shaft was carried out. The predicted results and the experiments revealed that the sensor system was appropriate for sensing the position of gear and the angular position of gear tooth of a geared shaft.

  • Traction motors for driving and power conversion devices using semiconductor switch are equipped with a transportation systems such as an electrical railway system. Power conversion devices have the possibility of malfunction by external electromagnetic waves. As a result, these could affect the safe operation of the railway. Moreover, the electromagnetic waves above safe limits will be harmful to the passengers inside the railway vehicles or anyone working around the rail-track. For this reason, the importance and need about the reliability check and complement of electromagnetic waves generated from the IPT(Inductive Power Transfer) system have been suggested for the safe application of the IPT system to the railway system. In this study, prediction for the electromagnetic wave properties was conducted through FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis of 5kW-class IPT system design model. Next, the 5kW IPT system prototype was made and then the small-scaled railway vehicle was made to mount the IPT system and the energy management system. Finally, the electromagnetic waves generated from the real small-scaled IPT system were measured and analyzed, and then the reliability check of predictions by FEM analysis were carried out.

  • In this paper, we calculate the magnetic field and analyze the inductive interference in conductive material around power transmission line. To compute induced eddy currents as well as magnetic fields, finite element method(FEM) is used for numerical calculation. The characteristics, transmission line height, conductive earth and mitigation wire are taken account of FEM analysis. This research also shows that mitigation wire reduces amount of eddy current in buried pipe line.

  • This study proposes a receiving pad identification coil for wireless charging of electric vehicles. The proposed coil identifies the shape of the receiving pad through magnetic coupling with the receiving pad. Therefore, the shape of the coil is designed to show the different magnetic properties of each receiving pad. The accuracy of this design is verified through finite element method simulation. Furthermore, the operation method of the secondary pad identification circuit is described, and the appropriate magnitude and length of the pulse voltage applied to this circuit for receiving pad identification are derived through simulation. The performance of the proposed identification coil set is verified by the experimental results.
