A three branches vortical Hall sensor for detecting rotation angle of brushless motor has fabricated. The sensor is constructed three branches of $150{\mu}m$ width and $300{\mu}m$ distance from central electrode to Hall electrode. Each branch has one Hall output and one Hall input. The central electrode acts as common driving input. According to rotation angle change of brushless motor, sensor gives three position signals phase shifted by $120^{\circ}$. The sensitivity of sensor is 200V/A$\cdot$T at magnetic field of 0.1 T and constant driving current of 1mA. It has also showed three sine waves of Hall output voltages with $120^{\circ}$ phase over one motor rotation. The noise can limit sensor's resolution. We have measured sensor's noise characteristics. The detectable minimum magnetic field is $20{\mu}T$ at driving current 1mA, measured frequency 1 kHz and bandwidth$({\Delta}f)$ of 1Hz.
For a short-term measurement to reduce an accident on a railroad crossing, it is necessary to find out the weakness and problems of existing equipment in the railroad transportation system. The analysis of railroad crossing accidents shows that main causes of accidents (24.9%) are the careless driving including an engine problem, damage on the safety equipment, slide on the snow, and an engine stop on the railroad crossing. Therefore, it is required to install a sensor, or to make a crossing gate at the exist for detecting obstacles on a railroad to prevent collisions among trains. This paper suggests 'a panel sensor using the strain gauge' to make up the weaknesses of the sensing Dead Zone, which are caused by using a laser method, and to detect any small objects passing railroads in order to reduce the errors, which are occurred in the earth magnetic field for controlling Exit Slide Crossing Arm Detector. The device, suggested in this paper, is verified with detecting any small objects passing the railroad, with judging entry decision clearly, and with controlling passing gate and obstruction warnings/cautions obstacles at the same time, through an experimental test.
An impeller identification technique that is essential for adding viscosity measurement functions to overhead stirrers is presented in this study. Previous studies have revealed that using magnets facing the same poles arranged in a row can aid in distinguishing the types of impellers by detecting the number of magnets in a non-contact manner. However, as these previous studies measured the magnetic fields using analog Hall sensors, a converting circuit for the digital signals is required that can interface with the MCU. In this study, it was demonstrated that the number of magnets can be distinguished without using a separate conversion circuit by using a Hall sensor with a digital output. Owing to the unique hysteresis characteristics of digital Hall sensors, it was confirmed through experiments that the complex and diverse outputs appear depending on the direction of the magnetic field, the arrangement of magnetic poles, and the moving direction of the magnet. The measurement of the magnetic field showed that an edge signal equal to the number of magnets inserted into the impeller was detected when the radial direction was used, and the south pole was first approached.
This study investigated the radial pulse waveform obtained by a medical pulsimeter sensor. A pulse-sensing part array consisting of multiple Hall devices was located over a skin-contacting part with a hard magnetic material. The periodic movement of the magnetic material of the skin-contacting part affected the magnetic field in the pulse-sensing part array and was detected by multiple Hall devices. The analysis of a radial pulse waveform that is measured noninvasively by detecting the changes of the magnetic field can be used to develop a new diagnostic algorithm of oriental medical apparatus.
For the characterization or failure analysis of electronic devices such as PCB (printed circuit boards), the most common method is the measurement of voltage waveforms with an oscilloscope. However, because there are many types of problems that cannot be detected by voltage waveform analysis, several other methods such as X-ray transmission, infrared imaging, or eddy current measurement have been applied for these analyses. However, these methods have also been limited to general analyses because they are partially useful in detecting physical defects, such as disconnections or short circuits. Fundamentally current waveform measurements during the operation of electronic devices need to be performed, however, commercially available current sensors have not yet been developed, particularly for applications in highly integrated PCB products with sub-millimeter fine pitch. In this study, we developed a highly sensitive PHR (planar hall resistance) magnetic sensor for application in highly integrated PCBs. The developed magnetic sensor exhibited sufficient features of an ultra-small size of less than 340 ㎛, magnetic field resolution of 10 nT, and current resolution of 1 mA, which can be applicable for PCB analyses. In this work, we introduce the development process of the magnetic sensing probe and its characteristic results in detail, and aim to extend this pin-type current probe to applications such as current distribution imaging of PCBs.
In Brushless DC Motor, there are Permanent Magnets (PMs) with driving circuit and sensor for detecting to rotor position and rotation speed. In the case of using hall IC sensor which response to magnetic flux, that is required to additional sensor magnet for rotor position detecting. Most of BLDC motor, However, take asymmetrical overhang of PM in rotor instead of additional sensor magnet for operating of hall IC sensor. The asymmetrical overhang of PM occur rotor thrust to z-axis direction that is lead to not only damage of bearing but also intensive noise and vibration. Therefore, the analysis of magnet overhang effect in the side of vibration and drive to hall If sensor is required to precise. In this paper, 2-D Finite Element Method is used to solve precise field computation and thrust of z-axis direction considering asymmetrical magnet overhang. And also the z-axis thrust from the analysis result is compared to experimental result. In conclusion, the purpose of this paper minimize to noise and vibration of BLDC Motor as analyzes to asymmetrical magnet overhang effect.
Incorrect information on public sites can cause serious problem. One of relevant countermeasures against this problem is to detect of buried underground utilities in real time. Although there have been several method to detect of buried underground utilities, such as investigating of gravity and elastic wave and electric field, they have not been so efficient tools. Because it is too expensive and difficult to use. In this paper, magnetic sensors which could provide an easier and more efficient method are used to detect of buried underground utilities. Also fluxgate method of self detection are used. Input signal is used $1\~10kHz$ frequency. Filtering and signal processing of output signal are used labview software. After experiment, detection system of buried underground utilities which used magnetic shows possibility of precise detecting of laying object based on theorectical analysis for electromagnetic field.
Mobile devices are becoming increasingly sophisticated and the latest generation of smartphones now incorporates many diverse and powerful sensors. These sensors include acceleration sensor, magnetic field sensor, light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope sensor, pressure sensor, rotation vector sensor, gravity sensor and orientation sensor. The availability of these sensors in mass-marketed communication devices creates exciting new opportunities for data mining and data mining applications. In this paper, we describe and evaluate a system that uses phone-based accelerometers to perform activity recognition, a task which involves identifying the physical activity that a user is performing. To implement our system, we collected labeled accelerometer data from 10 users as they performed daily activities such as "phone detached", "idle", "walking", "running", and "jumping", and then aggregated this time series data into examples that summarize the user activity 5-minute intervals. We then used the resulting training data to induce a predictive model for activity recognition. This work is significant because the activity recognition model permits us to gain useful knowledge about the habits of millions of users-just by having them carry cell phones in their pockets.
An analysis of the causes of railroad crossing accidents reveals that most train collision accidents that occur when safety crossing devices are functioning normally occur because vehicles either experience engine failure on the tracks or because drivers were not notified of the coming train, in which case they get trapped on the tracks when the crossing barriers descend. To prevent such an accident, obstacle detection device by using laser beams detecting the presence of obstacle and crossing bar direction controller by moving direction detection sensor using the Earth's magnetic field detection technology are used in the railroad crossing. Despite using the obstacles detector and crossing bar direction controller in the railroad crossing, the equipments for the railroad crossing does not prevent accidents completely. Therefore, this research has studied new method that can detect obstacles through image analyze and alternate existing equipments. There will be excellent effect to be preventing railroad crossing accident by developing a reliable and new obstacle detecting device.
