  • This paper Presents a discussion on the design and realization for the Phase Sensitive Defector (PSD) circuitry of Flu$\chi$-gate Compass that gives direction information to the Directional Frequency Analysis and Recording (DIFAR) Sonobuoy in Air Anti-Submarine Warfare. PSD circuitry is realized with Twin-T RC networked active band-pass filter. Results of a performance test the PSD circuitry shows that the effectiveness of band-pass filtering of desired $2F_0$ second harmonic signal, which is Pro- portional to the direction of earth's magnetic field. This resulted in the extraction of direction information.

  • The paper describes recent experimental results on the development of Digital Magnetic Compass (DMC), which can provide smart automatic correction functions to the magnetic interferences. The design methodology of magnetic sensing circuit with ring-core fluxgate sensor is represented. The performance results of the sensing circuits are discussed with error analysis by polynomial regressions. As test results, the sensing circuit filtered only the second harmonic signal that is proportional to the direction of earth's magnetic field, and it leads to the obtainment of bearing information. In addition, the total residual errors of DMC can be analyzed by the adoption of polynomial regressions. It shown that the possibility of high precise DMC, in the future.

  • We use the electrical energy and it is essential energy in modern life, but we lay cable underground due to the issue for environment and safety. Safety for worker is still insufficient for the development of safety equipment and related research has been focused on the cable lifetime diagnosis at underground cable work. I have to develop live line detector around the magnetic field were investigated at underground cable. In this paper, we were investigated by variation of coil turns and load due to detection of magnetic field at lines around. And detected value of developing products compared with measured value of milli-gauss meter. As a result, the value of the number of coil turns was found to be proportional to the measured value. But turn-numbers increase showed that the weak noise. I could be confirmed that sensor showed the optimum value from 4,000 to 5,0000.

  • Commonly, a live-line alarm can be used to measure the electric field strength of a high-voltage system to calculate its current, but it is hard to detect the electric field of shielded cables or concealed structures, such as underground distribution cables. Current sensors can detect the magnetic field in a single core wire, but they cannot determine the magnetic field about a double-core wire because the currents flow in opposite directions. Therefore, it is very difficult to detect certain current problems, such as a fault current in an extension line comprised of a double line. In this paper, to ultimately develop a sensor that can detect the current regardless of line conditions, we used a simulation to determine the concentration of the magnetic field dependent on the distribution of the external magnetic field and the path of each line's core.

  • The scanning electron microscope (SEM) is one of the most popular instruments available for the measurement and analysis of the micro/nano structures. It is equipped with an electron optical system that consists of an electron beam source, magnetic lenses, apertures, deflection coils, and a detector. The magnetic lenses playa role in refracting electron beams to obtain a focused spot using the magnetic field driven by an electric current from a coil. A SEM column usually contains two condenser lenses and an objective lens. The condenser lenses generate a magnetic field that forces the electron beams to form crossovers at desired locations. The objective lens then focuses the electron beams on the specimen. The present work concerns finite element analysis for the electron magnetic lenses so as to analyze their magnetic characteristics. To improve the performance of the magnetic lenses, the effect of the excitation current and pole-piece design on the amount of resulting magnetic fields and their peak locations are analyzed through the finite element analysis.

  • The hall sensor is current detector using hall effect in semiconductor and the conventional type detect current with concentrating flux by current of conductor. So, detection of small current is very difficult because of residual magnetism. This paper give the experiments based results about method that detect the small DC current using minimizing the residual of hall element by magnetic modulation and concentrating flux. The suggested sensor can dector small current better than the conventional that.

  • This paper describes the design method of a magnetic system to maximize the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) in a non-destructive testing (NDT) system. The defect signals in a MFL type NDT system mainly depend on the change of the magnetic leakage flux in the region of a defect. The characteristics of the B-H curves are analysed and a design method to define the operating point on B-H curves for maximum leakage is performed. The computed MFL signal by a nonlinear finite element method is verified by measurement using Hall sensors mounted on the 6 legs PIG, the traveling detector unit in gas pipe, in an 8 inch test tube with defects. The rhombic defects could be successfully identified from the defect signals.

  • Conventional handheld metal detectors use a single induction coil to detect the metallic parts of explosive objects, and the detector generates an acoustic signal from its magnetic response to a metallic object so that an operator can confirm the existence of mines. Though metal detectors have very useful detection mechanisms to find mines, it is easy to cause a high false alarm ratio due to the detection of non-explosive metallic items such as cans, nails and other pieces of metal, etc. Also, because of the physical characteristic of a metal detector it is hard to detect non-metallic objects such as mines made of wood or plastic. Furthermore, the operator must move it to the left and right slowly and repeatedly to attain enough sensor signals to confirm the existence of mines using only a monotonous acoustic signal. To resolve the disadvantages of handheld detectors, many new approaches have been attempted, such as an arrayed detector and a visualization algorithm based on metal/non-metal sensor. In this paper, we introduce a visualization algorithm with a metal/non-metal complex sensor, an arrayed metal/non-metal sensor and the their testing and evaluation.
