Moving Magnet Type PMLSM의 영구자석 형상 최적화 (Optimization of the Permanent Magnet Shape in Moving Magnet Type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor)

  • In this paper, the notch of teeth and skew of permanent magnet are used to reduce the detent force caused by slot-teeth structure. Also, the shape of permanent magnet is optimized to reduce the detent forceowing to flux hannonics components of permanent magnet. As a result, thrust is decrease about 2[%]. But, the distortion ratio of thrust is decreased from 1.04[%] to 0.75[%]. And, the ripple ratio of thrust is decreased from 2.6[%] to 1.65[%].

  • This work presents racetrack High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnet with iron plates to achieve the maximum current-carrying capacity and the simple shape that can easily be wound and jointed. The shape, position and kinds of iron plates are chosen by using 3 Dimensional Finite Element Analysis (3d FEA) considering magnetic saturation of iron plates. The racetrack HTS magnet with iron plates, magnet having optimized current distribution and initial magnet are compared with each other through 3D FEA, manufacturing and testing these magnets. The measured performance of the magnet with iron plates improved by 50% on the basis of initial magnet.

  • Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (IPMSMs) with rare earth magnet are widely used in electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles. IPMSMs having high efficiency, high torque, and a wide speed range are employed in propulsion system. And the rotor in an IPMSM is generally made of a rare earth magnet to achieve a large energy product and high torque. This paper discusses issues regarding design and performance of IPMSMs using different factors of BH magnetic characteristic. It is necessary to choose factors of magnetic material according to permanent magnet shape in rotor for high performance. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) is selected to obtain factors of magnetic material according to variety of rotor shapes. The RSM is a collection of mathematical and statistical techniques useful for the analysis of problems in which a response of interest in influenced by several variables and the objective is to optimize response. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the torque characteristics of an IPMSM having magnet BH hysteresis curve with different rotor shape. Factors of residual flux density (Br) factor and intrinsic coercive force (Hc) are important parameters in RSM for rotor shape. The rotor shapes for IPMSMs having magnet BH characteristic were investigated using the RSM, and three shapes were analyzed in detail using FEA. The results lead to design consequence of IPMSMs in the various rare earth magnet materials.

  • A novel cogging torque reduction algorithm is presented for 2-pole permanent magnet DC motor. While the shape of the permanent magnet is changed in the conventional method, the pole shape of the magnetizing yoke is optimized in the presented algorithm. In order to parameterize the shape of the yoke, and the distribution of the residual magnetization of the permanent magnet, the Bezier spline is used. The shape of the magnetizing yoke is optimized using the design sensitivity analysis incorporated with the finite element method and Bezier spline.

  • This paper presents the comparison study of permanent magnet (PM) eddy current of concentrated winding type surface permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) with different rare-earth magnet shapes. The fractional slot winding having 10 poles and 12 slots is studied. The PM eddy current is analyzed to compare for each shape by 2 dimensional (2D) finite element analysis (FEA). The eddy current and their loss of particular position of PM as well as their distributions are displayed for each model. The effect of partly enlarged air-gap made by PM shape to PM eddy current is compared.

  • This paper describes an approach to design a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) for the reduction of cogging torque. The magnitude of the torque ripple and cogging torque in a interior permanent magnet motor(IPM motor) are generally dependent on several major factors: the shape of stator tooth tip, slot opening width, air gap length, the shape of barrier preventing flux leakage of magnets, magnet configuration and magnetization distribution or magnet poles. In this paper, the IPM BLDC motor is designed considering a saturated leakag flux between the barriers on the rotor for increasing the efficiency and decreasing the magnitude of the cogging torque. Analytical model is developed for the IPM BLDC motor with a concentrated winding stator. The results verifies that the proposed design approach is very efficient and effective in reducing the cogging torque and the torque ripple of the IPM BLDC motor to be used in an electric vehicle.

  • In this study, we developed the efficient brushless DC motor for a compressor of air conditioner. The characteristics of motor are under the control of the material of some parts and the shape of magnet. Especially we compared the interior shape to the surface shape of the magnet. And we optimized the parameters like the temperature and the materials of magnet and core by tool for more efficient motor.

  • The cogging force of a permanent-magnet linear motor is a major component of the detent force, but unfortunately makes a ripple in the thrust force and induces undesired vibration and acoustic noise. In this paper, Coupling Particles Swarm Optimization is applied to optimization the shape of permanent magnet linear motor by minimizing the undesired vibration and acoustic noise in the thrust force and also considering the maximum thrust force. The result shows that the 9-pole 10-slot PMLM removes almost of the cogging force while giving a big thrust force.

  • In this paper, in order to reduce the cogging torque in a permanent motor, a method to optimize the shape of permanent magnet and iron pole is presented. Because the cogging torque comes from the irregular system energy variation according to the rotor position, system energy variation is taken as object function and the object function is minimized to optimize the shape. The positions of permanent magnet surface and iron pole surface are chosen as design parameters and sensitivity of object function with respect to design parameter is calculated. The shape is changed according to sensitivity. Sensitivity can be generated by methods that exploit the FEM formulation. A numerical example shows that about 90% of the original cogging torque is reduced.

  • This paper presents the optimization for shape design of a field coil used High Temperature Superconducting Motor (HTSM). In materials of HTSM, critical current Ic is more sensitive to magnetic fields directed along the axis or the unit cell ($B_{\bot}$). Thus, in the shape design of the HTS magnet. the maximum $B_{\bot}$ should be reduced to limit Ic. In order to reduce the maximum $B_{\bot}$, the shape optimization of the magnet, which is used for the field coil of HTSM, is necessary. It can be accomplished by using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Finally, the result of RSM is verified by comparison with these experimental results.
