Design Method of Current Mode Logic Gates for High Performance LTPS TFT Digital Circuits (LTPS TFT 논리회로 성능향상을 위한 전류모드 논리게이트의 설계 방법)

  • Development of high performance LTPS TFTs contributed to open up new SOP technology with various digital circuits integrated in display panels. This work introduces the current mode logic(CML) gate design method with which one can replace slow CMOS logic gates. The CML inverter exhibited small logic swing, fast response with high power consumption. But the power consumption became compatible with CMOS gates at higher clock speed. Due to small current values in CML, layout area is smaller than the CMOS counterpart even though CML uses larger number of devices. CML exhibited higher noise immunity thanks to its non-inverting and inverting outputs. Multi-input NAND/AND and NOR/OR gates were implemented by the same circuit architecture with different input confirugation. Same holds for MUX and XNOR/XOR CML gates. We concluded that the CML gates can be designed with few simple circuits and they can improve power consumption, chip area, and speed of operation.

  • In the case of aircraft-launched guided weapons, various interface tests such as MIL-STD-1760 based power source, discrete signal, MUX communication as well as BIT of missile can verify system safety and reliability. The purpose of this case study is to develop a test bench based on MIL-STD-1760E for interoperability testing between aircraft and weapons. We proposed a testing method of the launch sequence based on the defined TIME LINE in the development phase of the missile system from the application of the power of the missile to the targeting, the transfer order, and the missile separation process. Furthermore, it will be a reference model that can maximize the verification scope in the development phase of the air to surface missile system by simulating abnormal situation to the inert missile using the error insertion function.

  • With the aim of creating a high-quality display system with value-added functions, we designed a current mode multiplexer for LTPS TFT devices. The multiplexers had less than 1 volt logic swing, and speed improvement was evident compared with that of conventional CMOS architecture. We refined the multiplexer to achieve a more stable current steering operation. By using the versatility of the multiplexer, a new NAND/AND and NOR/OR logic gates were designed through the simple modification of signal connections. Two micron LTPS TFT parameters were used during the HSPICE simulation of the circuits.

  • TV technology started from black and white TV. Color TV invented and users request more realistic TV technology. The next technology is 3DTV. For 3DTV, 3D display technology, 3D coding technology, digital mux/demux technology in broadcast and 3D video acquisition are needed. Moreover, Almost every contents now exist are 2D contents. It causes necessity to convert from 2D to 3D. This article describes 2D/3D conversion algorithm and H/W platform on FPGA board. Time difference makes 3D effect and convolution filter increased the effect. Distorted image and original image give 3D effect. The algorithm is shown on 3D display. The display device shows 3D effect by parallax barrier method and has FPGA board.

  • A PC based measurement system was developed and it consisted of ammonia sensor(TS-1000), AMP & MUX Board, A/D Converter, and personal computer. The results obtained from the study are summarized as follows : 1. The relationship of outputs(V) of ammonia sensor(AS) and concentrations(ppm) of ammonia gas was analyzed by the linear regression analysis and the output values were very accurate when compared with standard ammonia gas. 2. The test results showed that the performance of ammonia gas sensor was not 31B3c1e4 by temperatures and humidities 3. The developed ammonia gas measurement system was proved to be practically uesful for measuring concentrations of ammonia gas in pig housing.

  • 본 논문에서는 고속. 저전력에 적합한 개방 구조를 갖는 8-비트 500Msmaples/s 2-Step ADC 를 제안하였다. 500Msmaples/s 의 고속 동작을 위해서 기존의 M-DAC을 이용한 폐쇄 구조 대신 개방형 구조를 사용하였다. 이와 더불어 저전력을 구현하기 위해서 analog-latch 를 제안하여 동적 동작을 수행시킴으로써 전력 소모를 줄였으며 , mux 의 구현 시 reset switch를 이용하여 로딩 시간을 개선함으로써 high-speed 에 적합하도록 설계하였다. 제안된 ADC 는 1-poly 6-metal 0.18um CMOS 공정을 이용하였으며 1.8V 전원 전압을 이용하여 250mW 의 전력을 소모하며 500M 샘플링 주파수에서 120MHz 신호 입력 시 7.6 비트의 ENOB를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 개방형 파이프라인 구조를 이용한 8비트 500Msamples/s ADC를 제안하였다. 8-비트의 해상도에 적합하면서 전력 소모가 적은 5 단 파이프라인 구조로 설계하였으며, 고속 동작에 적합하게 MUX 스위치에서 선택한 신호를 인터폴레이션하는 개방형 구조를 채택하였다. 전력 소모와 전체 칩 면적을 줄이기 위해서, 각 단에서 필요한 신호의 수를 줄이도록 설계하였다. 설계된 ADC 는 3 개의 신호를 이용하여 구현 함으로서 각 단에서의 증폭기 수틀 줄일 수 있었다. 또한 1.8V 의 낮은 전원 전압에 의한 작은 입력 범위에서 8-비트의 해상도를 만족하기 위해서 Offset Cancellation 기법을 사용하였다. 제안된 ADC 는 0.18μ m 일반 CMOS 공정을 이용하여 설계되었으며 시뮬레이션 결과 500Msamples/s에서 220mW의 전력 소모를 가지며, 1.2Vp-p (Differential) 입력 범위에 대해서 약 48dB의 SNDR을(8-비트의 해상도) 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • The DMB recently standardized in Korea is a Eureka-147 DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting)-based standard which is able to provide multimedia services including moving pictures, still images, text and etc. That has the structure to add the MPEG media codec and the MPEG system, namely, video-multiplexer to the DAB system. In this paper, we analysis the video-multiplexer of the DMB standard and propose a new multiplexer, namely. M4GM(MPEG-4 General Mux) included in the DMB vido-multiplexer for the performance improvement with respect to the transmission efficiency and the expansible functions. In addition, we simulate the two video-multiplexers and then compare and estimate their performance entirely.
