Implementation and Performance Analysis of High-availability System for Mission Computer (임무컴퓨터를 위한 고가용 시스템의 구현 및 성능분석)

  • MC(Mission Computer) performs important function in avionics system which tactic data processing, image processing and managing navigation system etc. In general, the fault of SPOF(Single Point Of Failure) in unity system can lead to failure of whole system. It can cause a failure of a mission and also can threaten to the life of the pilot. So, in this paper, we design the HA(Hight-availability) system so that dealing with the failure. And we use HA software like Heartbeat, Fake, DRBD and Bonding to manage HA system. Also we analyze the performance of HA system using the FDT(Fault Detection Time) for fast fault detection and MTTR(Mean Time To Repair) for mission continuity.

  • The purpose of RAM analysis in weapon systems is to reduce life cycle costs, along with improving combat readiness by meeting RAM target value. We analyzed the sensitivity of the RAM analysis parameters to the use of the operating system by using the Markov Process based model (MPS, Markov Process Simulation) developed for RAM analysis. A Markov process-based RAM analysis model was developed to analyze the sensitivity of parameters (MTBF, MTTR and ALDT) to the utility of the 81mm mortar. The time required for the application to reach the steady state is about 15,000H, which is about 2 years, and the sensitivity of the parameter is highest for ALDT. In order to improve combat readiness, there is a need for continuous improvement in ALDT.

  • An aircraft must be designed to minimize system failure rate for obtaining the aircraft safety, because the aircraft system failure causes a fatal accident. The safety of the aircraft system can be predicted by analyzing availability, reliability, and maintainability of the system. In this study, the reliability and the maintainability of the hydraulic system are analysed except the availability, and therefore the reliability and the maintainability analysis process and the results are presented for a helicopter hydraulic system. For prediction of the system reliability, the failure rate model presented in MIL-HDBK-217F is used, and MTBF is calculated by using the Part Stress Analysis Prediction and quality/temperature/environmental factors described in NPRD-95 and MIL-HDBK-338B. The maintainability is predicted by FMECA(Failure Mode, Effect & Criticality Analysis) based on MIL-STD-1629A.

  • This paper describes several reliability models to estimate COMS ground segment availability and shows assessed availability according to GS function. Due to a back-up concept among three ground center, SOC will have all H/W and S/W module to be installed in MSC and KOSC site. Therefore, all configurations and availability parameters for H/W and S/W modules in MSC and KOSC are assumed as equal with those in SOC, if related modules have same function. Prior to access availability over COMS GS function, Availability related to fundamental configuration such as series, parallel, partial operation, and module combined H/W and S/W is described. Consequently, all functions are expected to operate with more than 99% of availability.

  • As CNC machine tool is one of core elements of manufacturing system, it is much important that it remains without troubleshoots. As a virtual machine is a recent alternative using IT for optimal utilization of CNC machine tool, it is a computer model that represents a CNC machine tool. But a virtual machine is still conceptual. So, in this paper, it is proposed that a virtual machine be a realistic model in the fault diagnosis module. For this purpose, the fault diagnosis system of machine tool using CORBA and fault diagnosis expert system has been implemented. Using this system, we have expections to diagnose exactly and prompty without the restriction of time or location, to reduce MTTR(Mean Time To Repair) and finally to increase the availability of manufacturing system.

  • With the introduction of the RAMS(Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety), the interest of the system assurance has been increased. First of all, fast-growing electronic circuit requires analyzing the failure rates, by dividing the signalling system more specifically. Since 2005, the K.N.R (Korean National Railway) has incorporated ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) in order to establish the complete status as the top international comprise, therefore while ordering the project, it has established the classification system and then has been applying to ERP system in 2007. Due to the complex of the classification system, the reliability analysis of the signalling system was assessed with the limit of IXL ATP with On-board and wayside equipment. This paper assumed MTBF(Mean Time Between Failure), MTTR((Mean Time Between Repair) of total signalling system, by using the classification of ERP program.

  • Recently, the concern for the reliability of railway is increasing, also the study about reliability is being processed at a good pace. However, in case of an existing railway operating it is true that the railway system is being operated without a clear RAM standard. There is not a clear RAM standard about product menual of a city railroad, and there are only basic provisions concerning traction motor which can be called a main equipment. In this paper, we calculated the availability and reliability of subway having MKBSF, MKBF, MTBF, MTTR analyzing accumulated maintenance data about a main equipment of a VVVF direct subway being operated in line #4. By watching the reliability grade of a VVVF subway being operated and manufactured within the country and being applied with the development of a city railway reflected by RAM menual when the new subway is manufactured, and with the basic data of RCM, we'd like to grope the methods which can be improved by operation stability of a city railway.

  • Logistic support activities for weapon systems play an important role at maintenance activities in modern warfares. These activities are essential for keeping weapon systems ready at all time. However, maintenance supplies can be delayed without a proper information system. Further, increases of mean time to repair (MTTR) and unavailability of weapon systems can be occurred. In this study, a web based information system is developed for logistic chains of class 9 supplies. Utilizing web database technologies, the developed system can provide an environment for data exchange and sharing among various participants in the supply chain.

  • In this paper, we present reliability modeling and analysis method of the Automated Guideway Transit(AGT) vehicle system using analytical models, based on Markov Chains. The Markov model can express state transition of the AGT vehicle sys. that is considered to be in one of four states, such as basic operating (0), minor delay(1), major delay(2) and non-operating(3) state. The proposed Markov model is illustrated with a numerical example and cases to find a steady state availability, MTBF(mean time between failures), and MTTR(mean time to repair) under specified failure and repair rate arc demonstrated.

  • In this paper, we propose a hierarchical RAM simulation model framework which are used to analyze the RAM specifications on the concept refinement phase. The hierarchical RAM simulation model framework consists of RAM simulation models, class library and each model's input and output data lists. The hierarchical RAM simulation models are co-operated with 3 kinds of model - type I, II, III. Type I, II models are used to analyze the target operational availability and Type III is used to establish the initial RAM specifications. Each model's input and output data lists are defined by considering each model's purpose of RAM analysis. The class library is arranged with each model's classes for implementing the hierarchical simulation models. The proposed framework may be applied for executing the RAM activities effectively.
