Developing a soil water index-based Priestley-Taylor algorithm for estimating evapotranspiration over East Asia and Australia

  • Evapotranspiration (ET) is an important component of hydrological processes. Accurate estimates of ET variation are of vital importance for natural hazard adaptation and water resource management. This study first developed a soil water index (SWI)-based Priestley-Taylor algorithm (SWI-PT) based on the enhanced vegetation index (EVI), SWI, net radiation, and temperature. The algorithm was then compared with a modified satellite-based Priestley-Taylor ET model (MS-PT). After examining the performance of the two models at 10 flux tower sites in different land cover types over East Asia and Australia, the daily estimates from the SWI-PT model were closer to observations than those of the MS-PT model in each land cover type. The average correlation coefficient of the SWI-PT model was 0.81, compared with 0.66 in the original MS-PT model. The average value of the root mean square error decreased from $36.46W/m^2$ to $23.37W/m^2$ in the SWI-PT model, which used different variables of soil moisture and vegetation indices to capture soil evaporation and vegetative transpiration, respectively. By using the EVI and SWI, uncertainties involved in optimizing vegetation and water constraints were reduced. The estimated ET from the MS-PT model was most sensitive (to the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) in forests) to net radiation ($R_n$) in grassland and cropland. The estimated ET from the SWI-PT model was most sensitive to $R_n$, followed by SWI, air temperature ($T_a$), and the EVI in each land cover type. Overall, the results showed that the MS-PT model estimates of ET in forest and cropland were weak. By replacing the fraction of soil moisture ($f_{sm}$) with the SWI and the NDVI with the EVI, the newly developed SWI-PT model captured soil evaporation and vegetation transpiration more accurately than the MS-PT model.

Effects of Magnetic Layer Thickness on Magnetic Properties of CoCrPt/Ti/CoZr Perpendicular Media

  • Change of magnetic properties in CoCrPt/Ti perpendicular media with varying CoCrPt film thickness has been studied. As the CoCrPt film thickness increases from 25 nm, the Ms (saturation magnetization) increases rapidly at first and then more gradually. This Ms behavior is associated primarily with the formation of an "amorphous-like"reacted layer created by intermixing of CoCrPt and Ti at the CoCrPt/Ti interface and secondarily with a change of the Cr segregation mode with varying CoCrPt film thickness. Magnetic domain structure distinctively changes with increasing CsCrPt magnetic layer (ML) thickness. Also the strength of exchange coupling measured from the slope in the demagnetizing region of the M-H loop changes with ML thickness. The expansion of lattice parameters a and c at smaller film thickness suggests that the Cr segregation mode may be connected with the residual stress of the films. Finally, the negative nucleation field (Hn) shows a unique behavior with the change of strength of the exchange interaction.teraction.

  • Phentermine (PT) and phenmetrazine (PM) have been widely used as anti-obesity drugs. These drugs should be used with caution due to its close relation to amphetamine in its structure and toxicity. PT and PM, amphetamine-type anorectics, have recently been considered as alternatives for methamphetamine abuse in Korea. In addition, the misuse and abuse of PT and PM obtained by illegal sources such as the internet become a serious social problem. In the present study, a simultaneous detection and quantification method for determining PT and PM in human urine was developed and validated according to the international guidelines. The urine samples were screened using a fluorescence polarization immunooassay and analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) after extraction using automatic solid phase extraction (SPE) with a mixed-mode cation exchange cartridge and derivatization with pentafluoropropionic anhydride (PFPA). The validation results for selectivity, linearity, limits of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ), intra- and inter-assay precision and accuracy and recovery were satisfactory. The validated method was successfully applied to authentic urine samples collected from 38 drug abuse suspects. PT and/or PM were identified with or without methamphetamine in urine samples. Abuse of PT and PM have increased continuously in Korea, therefore, closer supervision of the inappropriate use of anoretics is necessary.

열분해법과 혼합가스 질화법으로 합성한 FePtN 나노 입자의 특성 (Characterization of FePtN Nano-particles Synthesized by Thermal Decomposition and Mixed-gas Nitrification)

  • 열분해법으로 합성한 FePt 나노입자를 $NH_3+H_2$ 혼합가스 질화법으로 상변태와 동시에 질화시킨 FePtN 나노입자의 특성을 분석하였다. 초기 합성된 FePt 나노입자는 fcc 구조를 가졌으며, 보자력과 포화자화는 각각 247.34 Oe와 27.308 emu/g를 나타내었다. 혼합가스 질화법으로 열처리한 입자는 XRD 분석 결과 fcc 구조에서 fct 구조로 상변태가 진행되었으며, 열처리 온도의 증가에 따라 (111) 피크의 $2{\theta}$가 shift되는 특성을 나타내었다. fct 구조의 FePtN의 보자력과 포화자화는 각각 1058.2 Oe and 32.718 emu/g를 나타내었으며, 합성된 FePtN 나노자성입자는 고밀도 자기기록매체와 생체의료 분야에서의 응용이 기대 된다.

담배 인산수송자 유전자를 이용한 벼의 형질전환 (Transformation of Rice (Oryza sativa L.) with Phosphate Transporter cDNA from Tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.))

  • 저인산 조건하에서 인산 흡수 효율이 높은 벼 품종을 개발하고자 담배의 인산수송자 유전자를 벼에 형질전환하였다. 동진벼로부터 유도된 callus를 담배의 인산수송자 유전자가 도입된 A. tumefaciens LBA 4404와 공동배 양한 후, 선발배지에서 증식된 callus를 250 mg/L carbenicillin, 2 mg/L kinetin, 0.1 mg/L NAA가 첨가된 MS배지에 옮겨 약 2주 후부터 소식물체를 얻었다. Carbenicillin 250 mg/L 첨가된 MS 기본배지에서 소식물체의 발근을 유도하여 재분화 식물체를 얻었다. 선발된 callus는 약 52%의 식물체 재력화율을 보였다. 선발된 재분화 식물체에 대한 PCR 분석을 수행하여 형질전환 벼 식물체에 담배의 인산수송자 유전자가 삽입되었음을 확인하였다. 형질전환체의 genonlic DNA로부터 PCR에 의해 증폭된 DNA에 대한 Southern blot분석 결과, 대조 식물체에서는 band가 검출되지 않았으나 형질전환 식물체에서는 인산수송자 유전자와 동일한 1.7kb의 band가 검출되어 외래유전자인 담배 인산수송자 유전자가 안전적으로 도입되었음이 확인되었다.

2단계 촉매 분해공정을 이용한 리그닌 유래 선택적 페놀화합물 생산 (Selective Production of Monomeric Phenols from Lignin via Two-step Catalytic Cracking Process)

  • 본 연구에서는 2단계 촉매 분해공정 시스템을 이용하여 효과적으로 리그닌을 분해하였으며 리그닌 분해산물로 액상의 리그닌 오일, 촤, 가스가 생성되었다. 1차 촉매 분해공정에서는 MgO, CaO, Pt/C 촉매를 사용하였으며 Pt/C 촉매를 사용했을 때 가장 높은 리그닌 오일 수율(76.2 wt%) 및 가장 낮은 촤 수율(4.1 wt%)을 얻을 수 있었다. 리그닌 오일의 GC-MS/FID 분석을 통해 guaiacol, 4-ethylphenol, 4-methylguaiacol, 4-ethylguaiacol, syringol 등 18종류의 페놀화합물을 검출하였으며 Pt/C 조건에서 생산된 페놀화합물 수율이 97.8 mg/g lignin로 가장 높았다. 한편 MgO와 CaO에서 생산된 페놀화합물은 촉매에 흡착되어 상대적으로 낮은 수율을 보였다. Pt/C 조건에서 생산된 리그닌 오일을 다공성 구조를 가지는 Pd/activated carbon aerogel 촉매 하에서 추가 분해하였다. 2차 촉매 분해공정을 통해 상대적으로 선택성이 높은 4가지 페놀화합물(4-ethylguaiacol, 4-propylguaiacol, 4-ethylsyringol, 4-propylsyringol)을 0.89 - 1.82 wt% 수준으로 생산하였다.

  • In this study, effects of novel VMn underlayer on magnetic properties of CoCrPt/VMn longitudinal medium was studied and compared with those of CoCrPt/Cr medium. It was found that the VMn film had (200) preferred orientation and the lattice constant was about 0.2967 nm, which is slightly larger than that of the Cr, 0.2888 nm. The grain size of VMn film was 9.3 nm at 30 nm thickness, and this is about 38 % smaller than that of a similarly deposited Cr film. The CoCrPt/VMn films showed higher coercivity in comparison with the CoCrPt/Cr films. The coercivity increase seems to be attributed to the increased Co (11.0) texture, improved lattice matching between Co (11.0) and VMn (200), and lower stacking fault density. Mn must have diffused into the CoCrPt magnetic layer more uniformly rather than preferentially along grain boundaries this reduced Ms at higher substrate temperature

USN을 위한 노드 감지기 설계 및 성능 분석

  • 본 논문에서는 USN 시스템 구현을 하기 위한 노드 감지기를 설계하고 성능을 분석하였다. 온도 응답특성에서 USN 노드는 100ms 이후에 안정된 특성을 보였고, ZF5585는 50ms 이후 안정되나 이후 출력이 안정되지 않고 빠른 출력을 내보내지 못하는 문제점이 개선되었다. 온도시간의 측정결과 USN 노드는 PT100에 비해 온도 측정시간이 균일하게 나타났고 측정시간도 짧았다.
