Word recognition process of Chinese homophone (한자표기동음이철어(漢子表記同音異綴語)의 재인과정(再認過程))

  • 한자표기동음이철어의 어휘접근과정을 탐색하기 위해 두개의 실험들이 수행되었다. 피험자들은 한자표기 동음이철어(점화어)의 표기상 관련된 의미나 음운상 관련된 의미 각각의 연상어(한글표기표적어)에 대해 어휘판단을 하였다. 실험 I 은 200ms SOA 와 1000ms SOA 에서 두 의미들의 활성화의 시간경로를 탐색했는데, 그 결과 두 의미들이 동시에 인출 되며 어휘의미에 대한 접근이 음운표상에 의해 매개됨이 밝혀졌다. 실험 II 에 따르면 주의할당에 의한 손실이 음운상 관련된 의미에 있어서만 가능하였다. 긴 SOA에서는 통제처리가 작용하지만 철자상 관련된 의미에 대한 통제는 불가능한 것으로 판단되었다.

A study on the Recognition of Korean Proverb Using Neural Network and Markov Model (신경회로망과 Markov 모델을 이용한 한국어 속담 인식에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is a study on the recognition of Korean proverb using neural network and Markov model. The neural network uses, at the stage of training neurons, features such as the rate of zero crossing, short-term energy and PLP-Cepstrum, covering a time of 300ms long. Markov models were generated by the recognized phoneme strings. The recognition of words and proverbs using Markov models have been carried out. Experimental results show that phoneme and word recognition rates are 81. 2%, 94.0% respectively for Korean proverb recognition experiments.

Influences of Inter-syllable Pause Duration on Speech Discrimination Score in Children with Cochlear Implantation (음절 간 쉼 간격이 인공와우 아동의 어음이해도에 미치는 영향)

  • The aims of this study was to investigate influences of speech discrimination score(SDS) depending on inter-syllable pause duration in participant with child of cochlear implantation(CI). 12 child of CI-user participated. The word for SDS was used self-made meaningless three-syllable. The pause duration of inter-syllable was adjusted to 250, 500, 1,000 millisecond(ms). Discrimination score of closed-set speech was obtained at most comfortable loudness(MCL). SDS were improved in CI group for 62.08, 63.75, 69.58 %, but there were no significant changes in child of CI group(p = .4635). SDS was improved depending on inter-syllable pause duration in child of CI.

  • This paper is to study adequacy of developing tutorial series for primary school students regarding MOS certification and to analyze a validity. In order to analyze a level of difficulty, current primary teaching materials being used after class, in comparison with ICT discretionary hour materials being used through primary discretionary class, were evaluated. It was done by primary teachers with in- depth understanding of a level of difficulty and after class instructors using Likert scale through quantitative analysis. As a result, level of PowerPoint has a satisfactory fit (76%), however, the degree of difficulty of Word and Excel is quite high. On its subject matter, there is quite a dispute with present curriculum. Therefore, in order to introduce MS-Word or Excel, it is necessary to adjust a level of difficulty or related subjects according to the level of students.

  • Hidden Markov Model (HMM)-based algorithms have been used successfully in many speech recognition systems, especially large vocabulary systems. Although general purpose processors can be employed for the system, they inevitably suffer from the computational complexity and enormous data. Therefore, it is essential for real-time speech recognition to develop specialized hardware to accelerate the recognition steps. This paper concerns with a real-time implementation of an isolated word recognition system based on HMM. The speech recognition system consists of a host computer (PC), a DSP board, and a prototype Viterbi scoring board. The DSP board extracts feature vectors of speech signal. The Viterbi scoring board has been implemented using three field-programmable gate array chips. It employs a hardware-efficient Viterbi scoring architecture and performs the Viterbi algorithm for HMM-based speech recognition. At the clock rate of 10 MHz, the system can update about 100,000 states within a single frame of 10ms.

  • In this paper, we propose a timing recovery loop for Inmarsat mini-m system downlink receiver. Inmarsat mini-m system requires a timing recovery loop which is robust in frequency offset and has fast acquisition because Inmarsat mini-m system specification requires frequency tolerance is required of ${\pm}924$ Hz (signal bandwidth: 2.4 kHz) and acquisition time of UW (Unique Word) signal duration (15ms).Therefore, we propose a timing recovery loop which is suitable for Inmarsat mini-m system. The proposed timing recovery loop adopted noncoherent UW detector and differential ELD which applied differential UW signal for stability and fast acquisition in frequency offset environment. Simulation results show that the proposed timing recovery loop has stable operation and fast acquisition in frequency offset environment for the system.

Implementation of the Automatic Segmentation and Labeling System (자동 음성분할 및 레이블링 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, we implement an automatic speech segmentation and labeling system which marks phone boundaries automatically for constructing the Korean speech database. We specify and implement the system based on conventional speech segmentation and labeling techniques, and also develop the graphic user interface(GUI) on Hangul $Motif^{TM}$ environment for the users to examine the automatic alignment boundaries and to refine them easily. The developed system is applied to 16kHz sampled speech, and the labeling unit is composed of 46 phoneme-like units(PLUs) and silence. The system uses both of the phonetic and orthographic transcription as input methods of linguistic information. For pattern-matching method, hidden Markov models(HMM) is employed. Each phoneme model is trained using the manually segmented 445 phonetically balanced word (PBW) database. In order to evaluate the performance of the system, we test it using another database consisting of sentence-type speech. According to our experiment, 74.7% of phoneme boundaries are within 20ms of the true boundary and 92.8% are within 40ms.

Lexical Access in the Bilinguals and the Category-specific Semantic System (이중언어의 어휘접근과 범주 특수적 의미체계)

  • The purpose of this study was aimed to compare the lexical access and representation of semantic system in the bilinguals. The participants(late Korean-English bilinguals) performed the word-picture matching task. The task was to decide whether the pictures presented after the words(basic-level categories) represent the Korean(L1) or English(L2) words' meaning or not. The stimuli were consisted of common object belonged to four different categories(animal, part of body, clothes, tool). To control the translation strategies, the SOA(stimulus onset asynchrony) were manipulated as 650ms(Exp. 1) and 200ms(Exp. 2). In both experiment, the RTs were faster in L1 condition. The decision time of the part of body categories were shorter than the animal in L1 condition. In L2 condition, clothes were responded faster than the tools. The differences of the lexical access time implied that the bilingual semantic system seemed to be structured by more sub-level categories than the super-level, living or non-living things, and the ways to access the bilingual lexicon might be differentiated according to the languages.

The Semantic System in Late Korean-English Bilinguals (후기 한국어-영어 이중언어자의 의미체계)

  • The present study was aimed to compare the semantic systems represented by the lexicon between L1 and L2 in late Korean-English bilinguals. The participants performed the word-picture matching task. the task was to decide whether the pictures represent the previously presented words' meaning. The words were the basic level categories. The stimuli were consisted of common object belonged to two different semantic categories (natural and artificial). To control the translation strategies, the SOA were manipulated as 650ms(Exp. 1) and 250ms(Exp. 2). No translation effort was found in the comparison of the two experiments. In both experiment, the RTs were faster in L1 rendition, and it took longer to decide the stimuli in natural categories than with artificial ones in L1. However, this category effect was not observed in L2. The results showed the differences in the organization of semantic representations in the brain through the bilinguals' two languages. While L1 semantic knowledge might be more systematically organized, that of L2 seems to be less well organized, at least by late bilinguals who participated in the present study.

2,048 bits RSA public-key cryptography processor based on 32-bit Montgomery modular multiplier (32-비트 몽고메리 모듈러 곱셈기 기반의 2,048 비트 RSA 공개키 암호 프로세서)

  • This paper describes a design of RSA public-key cryptography processor supporting key length of 2,048 bits. A modular multiplier that is core arithmetic function in RSA cryptography was designed using word-based Montgomery multiplication algorithm, and a modular exponentiation was implemented by using Left-to-Right (LR) binary exponentiation algorithm. A computation of a modular multiplication takes 8,386 clock cycles, and RSA encryption and decryption requires 185,724 and 25,561,076 clock cycles, respectively. The RSA processor was verified by FPGA implementation using Virtex5 device. The RSA cryptographic processor synthesized with 100 MHz clock frequency using a 0.18 um CMOS cell library occupies 12,540 gate equivalents (GEs) and 12 kbits memory. It was estimated that the RSA processor can operate up to 165 MHz, and the estimated time for RSA encryption and decryption operations are 1.12 ms and 154.91 ms, respectively.
