Study on the MQTT protocol design for the application of the real-time HVAC System

  • In this paper, the existing domestic HVAC systems, devices TCP / IP does not support the most, thereby, not performed remote management, it is necessary to regularly field service, inefficiency and cost bring a burden. This is through a comparison of the IoT-based primary, real-time protocol of what has become a hot topic recently, to be able to control and real-time monitoring through the CCU device in the HVAC system. Compare for this Internet of Things device for real-time monitoring and control of the XMPP, CoAP, MQTT main real-time protocol is used on. Finally, flexibility, light weight, based on MQTT a two-way messaging protocols with reliable message delivery, implements the protocol on the real-time HVAC system in the cloud platform.

  • 사물인터넷 시장의 발전에 따라 많은 통신 프로토콜과 그에 해당하는 장비들이 발전을 하고 있다. 다양한 통신 프로토콜 사용에 따라 이질성 문제가 대두되어 이를 해결하는 미들웨어 기반의 가상 어댑터들이 나왔다. 하지만 이러한 가상 어댑터들은 통신 프로토콜 간의 이질성 문제는 해결하지만 인터넷 같은 외부 망과는 상호 호환이 안 되는 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 MQTT(Message Queuing Telemetry)를 활용하여 기존 가상 어댑터들과 외부 망 간 양방향 연동을 가능케 하는 MQTT 어댑터를 제안한다. 본 연구를 통하여 어댑터는 내부 센서 데이터 활용뿐만 아니라 외부 망의 데이터도 활용할 수 있어 폭넓은 상호 운용성을 확보할 수 있다.

  • IoT가 다양한 형태로 IT 기술을 이용하는 사물의 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 보다 스마트한 IoT 환경을 만들기 위하여 센서 데이터를 효율적으로 컨트롤하는 시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문은 계속적으로 생성되는 IoT 센서 데이터 를 효율적으로 처리하는 시스템을 Loosely Coupled 하고 확장 가능한 Sensor Reaction System의 아키텍처로 구성하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 Node.js, MQTT, MongoDB 기술을 사용함으로써 이벤트 기반한 stream 및 batch 처리를 할 수 있도록 센서 데이터를 메시지 큐에서 효율적으로 처리한다. 본 논문에서는 아두이노 보드에 온도 및 빛 센서를 부착한 센서 디바이스로부터 센서 테이터를 받아서 PC 기반의 MQTT Broker / Sensor Reactor / MongoDB 서버 시스템을 구축하고 성능을 분석하였다.

Performance Comparison of HTTP, HTTPS, and MQTT for IoT Applications

  • Recently, IoT technology has been widely used in many industries. Also research on integrating IoT technology with IoT sensors is actively underway. One of the important challenges in IoT is to support low-latency communication. With the development of communication networks and protocols, a variety of protocols are being used, and their performance is improving. In this paper, we compare the performance and analyze the characteristics of some of the major communication protocols in IoT application, namely MQTT, HTTP, and HTTPS. IoT sensors acquired data by connecting an Arduino equipped with ESP8266 and a temperature and humidity sensor (DHT11). The server measured the performance by building servers for each protocol using AWS EC2. We analyzed the packets transmitted between the Arduino and the server during the data transmission. We measured the amount of data and transfer time. The measurement results showed that MQTT had the lowest data transmission time and data amount among the three protocols.

Improvement of IoT sensor data loss rate of wireless network-based smart factory management system

  • Data collection is an essential element in the construction and operation of a smart factory. The quality of data collection is greatly influenced by network conditions, and existing wireless network systems for IoT inevitably lose data due to wireless signal strength. This data loss has contributed to increased system instability due to misinformation based on incorrect data. In this study, I designed a distributed MQTT IoT smart sensor and gateway structure that supports wireless multicasting for smooth sensor data collection. Through this, it was possible to derive significant results in the service latency and data loss rate of packets even in a wireless environment, unlike the MQTT QoS-based system. Therefore, through this study, it will be possible to implement a data collection management system optimized for the domestic smart factory manufacturing environment that can prevent data loss and delay due to abnormal data generation and minimize the input of management personnel.

  • Internet of Things(IoT) technology is developing to a stage where the Internet and objects are connected and objects themselves analyze and judge data to interconnect the real world and the virtual world in real time. This technology consists of sensors, actuators, devices, and networks, and it is being applied in various fields. As the number of IoT devices and applications increases, data traffic also increases. In this paper, a messaging system is designed and implemented in order to analyze the performance between an IoT device and MQTT broker. The experimental was performed to measure MQTT-based round-trip time and message transmission time between the IoT device and the broker. The result shows that there is no packet loss, and propagation delay affects round-trip time.

  • Recently, with the development of IoT technology and the increase of energy consumption, interest in energy saving and energy efficiency improvement is rapidly increasing. In particular, in the case of a device connected to a power plug with the power shutoff, a problem with standby power has been raised. Thus technology development through a low power method such as Zigbee is in progress. However, Zigbee, which is generally used, has a problem that a separate gateway is required because it is not an IP-based technology, and there is a problem that it is not suitable for a traditional computer network to which a variety of devices are connected. Therefore, in this paper, we designed and implemented a standby power saving system using MQTT, an IoT standard protocol, in Z-Wave environment. In order to evaluate the implemented standby power saving system, the same environment as the existing Zigbee-based standby power saving system was compared and evaluated.

  • Recently, smart devices has been spreaded and the definition of RFID/USN(Radio Frequency Identification/Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology has also extended. So, originally, human is an agent of communications but now, 'the things' are also an agent of communication. That is, Internet of Things(IoT). IoT is very big IT infra technology that is based on wire-wireless network technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However, in reality, IoT service that can provide various meaning and integrate smoothly is not appear yet. To solve these problems of IoT, we implemented Publish/Subscribe system, which operate in Zigbee based wireless sensor network by using MQTT-SN protocol. Moreover, this system can operate with combining MQTT system that is already existed in external Internet network so, extensibility and flexibility aspect is excellent. We show that possibility of IoT services that is combined between different heterogeneous network through the MQTT-SN.

  • 최근 에듀테크 산업은 코로나 19와 4차 산업사회의 발달로 교육의 디지털 트랜스포메이션이 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존 에듀테크 기술들은 코로나 19로 인해 예기치 못한 환경에서의 교육 불균형과 영유아들의 언어적, 신체적 발달에 대한 방향을 제시하고 있지 못하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 MQTT 기반 유아 신체활동 에듀테크 플랫폼을 제안한다. 제안하는 플랫폼의 적용된 기술은 MQTT와 아두이노 센서를 활용하여 학습 동기를 유발하고 자발적인 참여를 유도한다. 성능평가는 제안하는 플랫폼의 주요 기능인 센서 데이터 처리 정확도를 분석하기 위해 QoS(Quality of Service)레벨별 데이터 처리율과 초당 처리량을 분석한다. 부하 테스트 성능평가를 통해 QoS2 레벨이 요청된 데이터 처리를 모두 정상적으로 완료하여 제안하는 플랫폼의 데이터의 신뢰성을 보장하기 위해 QoS 레벨 2를 적용하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 철도 운영 및 관리시에 철도 주변환경으로 부터 발생하는 소음, 진동, 미세먼지 센서에서 다양한 실시간 스트림 데이터를 감지하고 정형화된된 데이터 패턴을 인식하고 분석할 수 있도록 데이터를 구성 및 저장하고 분석된 데이터를 표현할 수 있도록 시각화 지원을 위한 모니터링 시스템 플랫폼을 구현하였다. 데이터 전송을 위해 시리얼 통신 기법을 주로 적용하였으나, 센서와 디바이스의 증가로 인해 시리얼 통신의 한계가 나타났다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존의 아두이노와 서버 간의 직접 통신 방식 대신 라즈베리파이를 도입하여 MQTT Broker(브로커)를 설치하고 통신을 진행하였다. 철도 데이터 모니터링 시스템 플랫폼은 NoSQL 데이터베이스인 MonGoDB와 데이터 시각화할 수 있는 Grafana를 이용하여 구축하였다.
