A prototype to improve endurance of solar powered aircraft using MPPT and rechargeable battery

  • This paper addresses the enhancement of long-endurance solar-powered aircraft through the integration of a rechargeable battery and Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) controller. Traditional long-endurance aircraft often rely on non-renewable energy sourcessuch as batteries orjetfuel, contributing to carbon emissions. The proposed system aims to mitigate these environmental impacts by harnessing solar energy and efficiently managing its storage and utilization. The MPPT controller optimizes the power output of photovoltaic cells, enabling simultaneous charging and discharging of the battery for propulsion and servo control. A prototype is presented to illustrate the practical implementation and functionality of the proposed design, marking a promising step towards more sustainable and enduring solar-powered flight.

  • This paper proposes a simple MPPT control scheme of a Current-Control-Loop Error system Based that can be obtains a lot of advantage to compare with another digital control method, P&O and IncCond algorithm that is applied mostly a PV system. An existent method is needed an expensive processor such as DSP that calculated to change the measure power of a using current and voltage sensor at the once. Therefore, it is applied a small home power generation system that required many expenses. But, a proposed method is easy to solve the cost reduction and power unbalance problems that it is used by control scheme to limit error of a current control of common sensor. This proposed algorithm had verified through a simulation and an experiment on battery charger using PIC that is the microprocessor of a low price.

  • We already fabricated a proto-type HTS charging system with photovoltaic (PV) system and obtained design parameters for DC converter and HTS charging system. In order to develop the real scale charging system efficiently, we suggested a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller using a perturb and observe (P&O) MPPT algorithm for PV system. In this paper, we designed and simulated the MPPT controller for the real scale HTS charging system. As well as, the PV module has been analyzed by solving solar cell equivalent equations. The simulated and theoretical results presented here are being considered the next study which addresses the design and fabrication parameters.

  • In this paper described common MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm; Constant Voltage Control, P&O(Perturbation and Observation), IncCond(Incremental Conductance), and investigated it's efficiency. Through simulation and efficiency evaluation, analyze the steady/transient states characteristics and efficiency of control algorithms respectively. Also, To high-efficiency proposed Two-mode MPPT control for improve on the existing control algorithm. Moreover, this paper suggested a topology for MPPT measuring efficiency and a method of examination.

  • This paper proposed a MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm for PV(Photovoltaic) array based on a modified constant voltage control MPPT algorithm at low insolation. This method which combined a reference voltage control and a constant voltage control algorithm. In contrast to the typical conventional MPPT algorithm, the proposed method have been obtained high efficiency and good performance in all insolation intensity. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • This paper proposes a novel maximum power point tracking(MPPT) control algorithm considering insolation to improve efficiency of PV system. The propoed algorithm is composed perturb and observe(PO) method and constant voltage(CV) method. PO method is simple to realize and CV method is possible to tracking MPP with low insolation. Response characteristics of proposed algorithm is compared to conventional PO method with insolation variation. This paper proves the validity of proposed algorithm through the analysis result.

  • This paper is proposed by fuzzy-based MPPT control of photovoltaic to drive induction motor. Design and prototype implement of a fuzzy logic(FL) controller for maximum power extraction from a stand-alon photovoltaic is proposed in this paper. Error and the change of error between maximum power and real power are used by input of fuzzy controller. Moreover, it output changing of voltage from control constant. The validity of this paper is proved by comparing maximum power point tracking and performance of motor drive through comparison fuzzy and PI of tradition method.

  • Now a days has problem of energy resource shortage and environmental pollution. We are looking up various solution plans regarding this problem. Solar power is one of the solution to solve the energy shortage problem. But solar power is affected by the weather. So variation weather we can use Maximum Power Point Tracing device for solar PV system. In this paper, New MPPT method is proposed to tracking MPP at low and high insolation by combining constant voltage method with Newton Method method.

  • PV(Photovoltaic)는 일사량 및 온도에 의해 얻을 수 있는 최대 전력이 변화하고, PV의 전압에 따라 출력 전력이 변화한다. 따라서 PV를 이용한 인버터는 최대 전력점에서 동작하게 하는 최대 전력점 추정(Maximum Power Point Tracking) 제어시스템이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 인버터 제어에 필요한 여러가지 MPPT 기능 실험이 가능하게 하는 저가형 태양전지 시뮬레이터 시스템의 제어알고리즘을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 PV의 출력특성에 따른 출력값을 설정하고, 다양한 출력특성 변화의 실시간 변화가 가능하게 하는 새로운 알고리즘을 적용하였다. 이를 통해 PV가 설치되지 않은 곳에서 인버터의 MPPT 성능 시험이 가능하며, 실제 인버터에 구현된 P&O-MPPT와 연동하여 제안된 제어기법의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • The modular line-connected photovoltaic PCS (power conditioning system) is proposed. The proposed system consists of a step-up DC-DC converter and a full-bridge inverter. A step-up DC-DC converter using a dual series-resonant rectifier circuit and a active-clamp circuit is proposed to achieve a high efficiency and a high input-output voltage ratio efficiently. An IncCond (incremental conductance) MPPT (maximum power point tracking) algorithm that improves MPPT characteristic is used. By control a inverter using a linearized output current controller, a unity power factor is achieved. All algorithms and controllers are implemented on a single-chip microcontroller and the superiority of the proposed algorithms and controllers is proved by experiments.
