In this paper, we present the experimentation and demonstration results of Korea-Japan high-speed satellite ATM network using Ka-band Koreasat-3. This experimentation consists of two items - TCP/IP and MPEG-2 video/audio transmission over 155Mbps ATM based satellite network. The goals of this experimentation are to measure TCP performance when the only standard mechanisms approved by IETF in order to improve TCP performance in LFN(long fat network) are used and to derive the effects of quality for the high definition video stream when MPEG-2 TS is transmitted through 155Mbps satellite ATM link. With on the results of the experiments, we demonstrated the applications suitable to the high-speed satellite ATM network. The first TCP/IP and MPEG-2 transmission experiments were done at the rate of 155Mbps using Ka-band KOREASAT-3 between Korea and Japan, and its results will be demonstrated with the ATM-based 3D-HDV(3 dimensional High definition video) and HDTV during 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup Soccer Game.

A new transmission system is necessary for the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) service in Korea. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new architecture for the implementation of a DMB transmission system based on Eureka-147. We describe the design and implementation of the Ensemble remultiplexer, which is essential to the proposed system for remultiplexing ETI frames and MPEG-2 transport streams. The proposed system provides a solution with high flexibility and low cost for multimedia broadcasting service. The functions of this transmission system have been verified by using our DMB receiver and other related systems.

서브타이틀 데이터는 비트맵으로 된 텍스트로 MPEG-2 전송 스트림형식으로 전송된다. 본 논문에서는 셋톱박스(SetTopBox)에 사용되는 서브타이틀 분석기를 구현하는데 필요한 표준 기술을 분석하고, 윈도우 환경에서 사용가능 한 응용프로그램을 구현하는 방법을 제안한다. 특히 DVB-T용으로 제한하여 디스플레이 크기는 표준인 $720{\times}576$이다. 실제 유럽에서 방송되던 스트림을 가지고 테스트해본 결과 성공적으로 처리함을 확인하였다.

In this paper, a next generation high speed QPSK transmitter is designed based on 1.8${\mu}$m design rule. The designed transmitter supports the MPEG2-TS coded packed data for the DAVIC standard. Transmitter is composed of the convolutional coder, the shortened Reed-Solomon coder, and QPSK modulator. The coded packets are modulated in APSK with an RC filter. Especially, Galois Field multiplier with a standard basis is designed with the pipelined parallel architecture. Also, in the QPSK modulator, the RC filter and mixer are simplified into the ROM table, which can improve the performance of the transmitter. The total number of gates for the implemented baseband transmitter is 26,875.

In this paper, we defined necessary operations and functional blocks of a multiplexer for 3-D video systems and present our multiplexer design. We adopted the ITU-T's recommendation(H.222.0) to define the operations and functions of the multiplexer and explained the data structures and details of the design for multiview image processing. The data structure of TS(Transport Stream) and PES (Packetized Elementary Stream) in ITU-T Recommendation H.222.0 does not fit our multiview image processing system, because this recommendation is fur wide scope of transmission of non-telephone signals. Therefore, we modified these TS and PES stream structures. The TS is modified to DSS(3D System Stream) and PES is modified to SPDU(DSS Program Data Unit). We constructed the multiplexer through these modified DSS and SPDU. The number of multiview image channels is nine, and the image class employed is MPEG-2 SD(Standard Definition) level which requires a bandwidth of 2∼6 Mbps. The required clock speed should be faster than 54(= 6 ${\times}$ 9)㎒ which is the outer interface clock speed. The inside part of the multiplexer requires a clock speed of only 1/8 of 54㎒, since the inside part of the multiplexer operates by the unit of byte. we used ALTERA Quartus II and the FPGA verification for the simulation.

본 논문에서는 HDTV(High Definition TV) 방송수신을 위한 DSP(Digital Signal Processor)기반의 HD급 비디오/오디오 디코더 시스템을 개발하고 그 성능을 확인하였다. DSP 플랫폼은 TI(Texas Instrument)사의 TMS320C6415를 대상으로 하였으며 TI의 DSP RTOS인 DSP/ BIOS를 이용하여 방송스트림인 TS(Transport Stream)을 분리하기 위한 TS Demuxer, MPEG-2 비디오 디코더 및 AC-3 오디오디코더 알고리즘을 통합하였으며, 각각의 알고리즘은 대상 DSP플랫폼인 TMS320C64x에 맞게 고정소수점 구조화 및 최적화를 실시하였다. 테스트를 위한 시스템은 스트리밍을 위한 호스트 PC와 PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect)버스를 통해 연결된 DSP보드로 구성하였으며 실제 HDTV당송용 스트림과 SD(Standard Definition)급 스트림을 이용하여 성능을 확인하였다.

In this letter, we present a layered structure of the Korean terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (TDMB) transmission system for multimedia broadcasting service and introduce a device called the Ensemble Remultiplexer which is designed to remultiplex the Ensemble Transport Interface (ETI) for T-DMB service. This letter describes the remultiplexing process of the Ensemble Remultiplexer.

본 논문에서는 사설방송이 필요한 상황에서 HD급 비디오카메라 등의 영상촬영장비 및 영상출력장비의 출력을 송출하고, 송출된 영상콘텐츠를 수신하여 기존의 HDTV 또는 컴퓨터로 전송할 수 있는 휴대가 가능한 방송 송수신 시스템을 제안한다. 즉 개발된 장비를 조합하여 기존의 공청망 또는 LAN을 이용하여 영상콘텐츠를 송수신하는 것으로써, 공청을 위한 선로가 포설되지 않았어도 기존의 LAN을 활용하여 영상콘텐츠를 송수신할 수 있다.

In this paper, we have analyzed algorithm about physical layer, data link layer and MAC layer of out-of-band specified in the DVS 178 and designed architecture of Out-of-band processor. Out-of-band processor extracts session key information from EMM packet to descramble MPEG-2 TS packet scrambled. Also, analyze EAS Packet including emergency alert information to provide emergency communications such as national emergency. In this paper, we have implemented prototype board for out-of-band processor.

In this paper, we describe an implementation of indexing and presentation system conforming to TV-Anytime standards. This system has a metadata indexing scheme for multimedia contents, a video indexing algorithm for news and soccer videos, and an MPEG-2 TS player for nonlinear browsing. We also implement an authoring tool for the algorithms mentioned above.
