  • The purpose of the synthetic generation of monthly river flows based on the short term observed data by means of stochastic models is to provide abundant input data to the water resources systems of which the system performance and operation policy are to be determined beforehand. In this study, a multivariate autoregressive model has been applied to generate monthly flows of the multi sites considering the correlations between each site. The model performance was examined using statistical comparisons between the historical and generated monthly series such as mean, variance, skewness and correlation coefficients. The results of this study showed that the modeled generated flows were statistically similar to the historical flows.

  • This study is designed to understand demographic characteristics, store selection factors, difference in preferred stores which are considered to be related to store selection behaviors for clothes by college students in Yanbian, China. Questionnaire was used for measurement tools to study the subject of the thesis. Questions used for the evaluation criteria for store selection were primarily based on those previously used by the other researchers with some revision and supplementation. Each question was rated in 5 point scale, where 1 means 'not at all' and 5 means 'definitely'. A total of 50 copies of the questionnaire was passed out to college students in Yanbian from March 20 to March 25, 2001, for the preliminary study. The main study was conducted against 450 college students from May 17 to June 5, 2001 The data for the study were analyzed using SAS PC program for frequency distribution, percentage, 1 -test, and one way ANOVA. A significant difference was showed in the preferred stores between male and female students. In total, underground markets were preferred most with 41.6%, followed by markets with 40.3%. A significant difference was showed among groups regarding preferred stores based on an average monthly income, monthly expense on clothing. Three areas of 'product price', 'display and mood of the store' and 'royal store' showed a significant difference in terms of selecting stores based on an average monthly income. A significant difference was showed in only one areas(brand awareness) in selecting stores based on monthly clothing expense.

  • To investigate conditions for the survival and growth of Dungeness crab zoeae in situ, spatial and monthly changes of sea surface temperature (SST), sea surface salinity (SSS), Chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ (Chl ${\alpha}$), and zooplankton biomass were measured in four transects: upper Chatham, Icy Strait, Cross Sound, and Icy Point in southeastern Alaska from May to September, 1997-2004. Monthly mean SST was coldest in May, increased throughout the summer months, and decreased in September. SST was coldest in the Cross Sound transect, intermediate in the upper Chatham and Icy Strait transects, and warmest in the Icy Point transect. SSS of northern stations in the upper Chatham and Icy Strait transects decreased throughout the summer months and increased in September, while that of other transects did not vary. Monthly mean Chl ${\alpha}$ was highest in May and decreased thereafter. Chl ${\alpha}$ in the upper Chatham and Icy Strait transects were relatively higher from May through September than those in the Cross Sound and Icy Point transects. Mean zooplankton biomass was highest in the Icy Strait transect in May and lowest in the Icy Point transect in September. This research suggests that oceanographic conditions during the season of Dungeness crab zoeae in southeastern Alaska may not constrain the survival and growth of Dungeness crab zoeae.

  • Disaggregation model has recently become a major technique in the field of synthetic generation and the model is possibly one of the most widely acepted tools in stochastic hydrology. The application of disaggregation model is evaluated with the streamflow data at the Waegwan and Hyunpung stage gaugin station on the main stem of the Nakdong River. The disaggregation process of annual streamflow data and the method of parameter estimation for the model is reviewed and the statistical analysis of the generated monthly streamflows such as a computation of moment estimation of covariance and correlogram analysis is made. The results, disaggregated monthly streamflow, obtained by Disaggregation Basic Model for single site are compared with the historical streamflow data and also with the other model, Thomas-Fiering Model. The generated monthly streamflow data by two models have been investigated and verified by comparision of mean and standard deviation between the historical and generated data.
