  • As studies on ubiquitous computing are actively conducted, desire for various services, including image transmission storage, search and remote monitoring. has been expanding into mobile environment as well as to PCs. while CCTV (closed circuit TV) and un DVR (Digital video Recording) are used in places where security service such as intrusion detection system is required, these are high-end equipment. So it is not easy for ordinary users or household and small-sized companies to use them. Besides, they are difficult to be carried and camera solution for mobile device does not support high-quality function and provides low-definition of QVGA for picture quality. Therefore, in this study, design and implementation of embedded system of high-definition image transmission for ubiquitous mobile device which is not inferior to PC or DVR are described. To this end, usage of dedicated CPU for mobile device and design and implementation of MPEG-4 H/W CODEC also are examined. The implemented system showed excellent performance in mobile environment, in terms of speed, picture quality.

  • The objective of this study is to assess the requirements of tablet PC-based PMIS applications designed for use on construction sites to determine whether these new programs can play a significant role in increasing the efficiency of a project. In this research, the current market conditions of PMIS running on a tablet PC were analyzed. In addition, two industry surveys were conducted. A research team interviewed some industry experts and identified fourteen useful and desirable functions that can be incorporated into tablet PC-based applications and project management tools. Through a questionnaire survey, the most effective functions for the tablet PC-based PMIS were identified. The three top-rated functions among those suggested were Contact Information for Job-Related Personnel; Receive and Respond to Submittals, RFIs, and Notices; and Problem Solving for Design and Engineering Issues. The results of this research are expected to provide helpful information for mobile application developers and members of other interested groups in the construction industry.

  • The Pocket PC has become more popular in market because of the advantages of its small size and convenience for regular customers. Pocket PC is a mobile device so that we can receive the benefits of shared data over a wireless network. Enabling us to transmit data to a central location, simply messaging from one point to the next, its ability to share information across a wireless platform is becoming central to our communication needs. However, using Windows CE - an embedded operating system, as well as being designed for mobile users, there are many limitations to memory and speed of arithmetic operations on Pocket PC. As a result, developers have to deal with many difficulties in managing information storage when developing applications, especially Geography Information System (GIS) applications. In this paper, we propose some efficient methods to store GIS data and to increase the speed of displaying maps in GIS applications developed on Pocket PC and Windows CE 3.0.

  • When producing a wireless web contents by using wire web contents for PC environment, we should consider how to represent lots of information being suitable with PC environment to wireless devices having narrow performance. Therefore, we propose mobile page editor for manager to select and modify specific contents with the existing wire web page. Also, we try to define an intermediate language based on DID(Digital Item Declaration) of MPEG-21 multimedia framework which defines source of converting information and wireless web contents generating at mobile editor in considering real time service problem when transcoding multimedia information in a web server into wireless device having low resolution, narrow performance of media process, memory, and so on.

  • With the rage for Netbooks recently, Tablet PC and Smart phone users are rapidly increasing. Despite of the forecast that anticipates frequently practical use in various organizations and society, the comparison studies among the mobile devices rarely exist. The study examines the acceptable intention of the mobile devices, with which can replace traditional workstations and notebooks. UTAUT(Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology) was applied to the investigation of influencing factors for the acceptable intention, instead of the typical TAM(Technology Acceptance Model). The results illustrate that the significant differences of acceptable intention among the mobile devices occur based on two-side network effect even though some Smart phones share OSs and Apps with Tablet PCs and Netbooks.

  • Recent technological advances and industry changes, the game industry is maximizing fun by supporting cross-play that can be enjoyed by different platform users in PC, Mobile and Console games. If the boundaries are lost through the cross play, unexpected security threats can occur due to new services, even if existing security is maintained above a certain level. The existing online game security researches are mostly fraud detection that can occur in PC and mobile environment, but it is also necessary to study the security of the console game as cross play becomes possible. Therefore, this paper systematically identifies the security threats that can occur when enjoying cross play against console game users using STRIDE and LINDDUN threat modeling, derives security requirements using the international common evaluation standard.

  • Various efforts and technical development for integrating the ICT technologies to the area of special needs education have been continuing. In this paper we have studied and implemented various ICT-based disability evaluation websites and mobile applications for special needs education and also verified their usefulness from the field test at disability schools. The valuer can access the websites and mobile applications for autistic behavior or learning disability evaluation at the any places and by any devices such as laptop, PC, smartphone and tablet PC. And all the evalation results are stored into and managed at the server database and shared with websites and mobile applications to integrate together easily. From the study about disability evaluation and implementation results we have a confidence that they will be useful to support the seamless evaluation and the continuous monitoring services for the disabled at the special needs education fields.

  • With the recent increase of the number of mobile game users, the side effects such as the manipulation of game points, levels and game speed and payment fraud are emerging. Especially, the emulators which make it possible for mobile applications to run on PC is a great threat to mobile game security since debugging specific game application or automating the game playing can be done easier with them. Therefore, we research the efficient ways to detect widely used Android Emulators such as BlueStacks, GenyMotion, Andy, YouWave and ARC Welder from the perspective of client(app), game server and network to reduce threat to mobile game security.

  • This paper proposes a method for extending simulating fluid on mobile device, which was only possible on desktop PC. Fluid simulation is done by solving Navier-Stokes equation numerically, and previous research were mainly focused on numerical stability [1], and realism [2]. However, such methods assume rich computational resources, which is not available on mobile devices. On the other hand, rigid-body solver is the mostly used physically-based technique [3], and only simple height field-based method is released for fluid simulation [4]. To overcome these problems, we proposes a modified incompressible fluid dynamics solver for the mobile device, and also we propose a technique for visualizing fluids on the mobile device.
