  • The increase in data traffic calls for investment in mobile networks; however, the saturating revenue of mobile broadband and increasing capital expenditure are discouraging mobile operators from investing in next-generation mobile networks. Mobile network sharing is a viable solution for operators and regulators to resolve this dilemma. This research uses a difference-in-differences analysis of 33 operators (including 11 control operators) to empirically evaluate the cost reduction effect of mobile network sharing. The results indicate a reduction in overall operating expenditure and short-term capital expenditure by national roaming. This finding implies that future technology and standards development should focus on flexible network operation and maintenance, energy efficiency, and maximizing economies of scale in radio access networks. Furthermore, mobile network sharing will become more viable and relevant in a 5G network deployment as spectrum bands are likely to increase the total cost of ownership of mobile networks and technical enablers will facilitate network sharing.

  • Ceramide III was prepared by the cultivation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Ceramide III was partitioned from the cell extracts by solvent extraction and analyzed by Normal Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatography (NP-HPLC) using Evaporative Light Scattering Detector (ELSD). We experimentally determined the mobile phase composition to separate ceramide III with NP-HPLC. Three binary mobile phases of n-hexane/ethanol, n-hexane/lsoprophyl Alcohol(IPA) and n-hexane/n-butanol and one ternary mobile phase of n-hexane/IPA/methanol were demonstrated. For the binary mobile phase of n-hexane/ethanol, the first mobile phase composition, 95/5(v/v), was step-increased to 72/23(v/v) at 3 min. In the binary mobile phase, the retention time of ceramide III was 7.87min, while it was 4.11 min respectively in the ternary system, where the mobile phase composition of n-hexane/IPA/methanol, 85/7/8(v/v/v), was step-increased to 75/10/15(v/v/v) at 3 min. However, in the ternary mobile phase, the more peak area of ceramide III was observed.

  • In recent years, there has been increased to access multimedia service through the Internet due to rise of the access speed. We suppose the co-existence of the various access networks in adjacent area in the future, such as wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and 3G Cellular So, the size of the cell will be smaller and the number of access point will be increased. In other words, the potable devices need the efficient mobility scheme due to move between cells frequently Currently, the several of the scheme, which is Cellular IP, HAWAII, Mobile IPv4 regional registration, and hierarchical Mobile IPv6, is suggested to support micro-mobility but Mobile IPv4 is standard scheme to support the mobility of the mobile node. MPLS, which forwards the packet through switching instead of routing using IP address, has begun to deploy in the internet backbone to increase the performance of mobility protocol. The integration of both MPLS and Mobile IP improves the scalability of the Mobile IP data forwarding process by leveraging on the features MPLS which are fast switching and high scalability. Moreover it abbreviates IP-in-IP tunneling between HA and FA. In this paper, we suggest efficient mobility scheme through integration of both MPLS and hierarchical Mobile IPv6.

  • This paper proposes a mobile SCTP (mSCTP) handover scheme for vertical handover between 3G wireless and WiBro networks. To evaluate the proposed mSCTP vertical handover scheme, we implement the mSCTP handover supporting system over Linux platform in which the movement of a mobile node is automatically detected and the mSCTP vertical handover is performed by the mobile node. We analyze and compare the performance of mSCTP handover and Mobile IP handover over the preconfigured testbed. From the numerical results, we can see that the handover latency of mSCTP could be much more reduced, compared to the Mobile IP handover, if the mobile node would sojourn long enough in the overlapping region between the two heterogeneous networks.

  • This study analyzed consumers' online fashion shopping site usage by site type and analyzed how product information search and product purchase differ. In addition, by comparing and analyzing preference and selection factors of PC and mobile shopping, we tried to provide basic data of effective mobile commerce operation strategy according to expansion of mobile market in fashion industry. We surveyed the use of 6 types of online sites (portal site, open market, general shopping mall, social commerce shopping mall, brand shopping mall and non-brand shopping mall) to understand the usage of mobile shopping site for consumers' fashion products. Consumer survey subjects were 373 college students in their early 20s who had the most mobile shopping experiences. The questionnaire consisted of online fashion site usage items, internet and mobile fashion shopping preference (6 items), internet and mobile shopping choice behavior (10 items), and purchase intention (3 items) .Data were analyzed using SPSS 14.0 program. The high preference of portal sites, open market, social commerce, and non-brand shopping malls in shopping online fashion products is a result of the perceptual changes of major distribution channels and the trends of consumers' value consumption tendency. Therefore, it is necessary for fashion companies to actively cope with fashion product distribution competition with huge shopping sites of current online market by well understanding consumers' preference trends and factors of online sites.

  • In these days, mobile application dealing with information contents on mobile or handheld devices such as mobile communicator, PDA or WAP device face the most important industrial needs. The motivation of this study is the design and implementation of mobile application using high resolution satellite imagery, large-sized image data set. Although major advantages of mobile devices are portability and mobility to users, limited system resources such as small-sized memory, slow CPU, low power and small screen size are the main obstacles to developers who should handle a large volume of geo-based 3D model. Related to this, the previous works have been concentrated on GIS-based location awareness services on mobile; however, the mobile 3D terrain model, which aims at this study, with the source data of DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and high resolution satellite imagery is not considered yet, in the other mobile systems. The main functions of 3D graphic processing or pixel pipeline in this prototype are implemented with OpenGL|ES (Embedded System) standard API (Application Programming Interface) released by Khronos group. In the developing stage, experiments to investigate optimal operation environment and good performance are carried out: TIN-based vertex generation with regular elevation data, image tiling, and image-vertex texturing, text processing of Unicode type and ASCII type.

  • This paper proposes a precise localization algorithm for a quickly moving mobile robot. In order to localize a mobile robot with active beacon sensors, a relatively long time is needed, since the distance to the beacon is measured using the flight time of the ultrasonic signal. The measurement time does not cause a high error rate when the mobile robot moves slowly. However, with an increase of the mobile robot's speed, the localization error becomes too high to use for accurate mobile robot navigation. Therefore, in this research into high speed mobile robot operations, instead of using two active beacons for localization an active beacon and dual compass are utilized to localize the mobile robot. This new approach resolves the high localization error caused by the speed of the mobile robot. The performance of the precise localization algorithm was verified by comparing it to the conventional method through real-world experiments.
