Stability of Paclitaxel and Vancomycin in $5\%$ Dextrose Injection, $0.9\%$ Sodium Chloride Injection and Hartman's Solution during Simulated Y-Site Administration

  • Paclitaxel과 vancomycin을 $5\%$ 포도당주사액, $0.9\%$ 염화나트륨주사액 또는 하트만용액과 함께 Y-Site 장치를 써서 환자에게 주입할 때 두 약물의 안정성에 관하며 면구하였다. Paclitaxel 0.3 mg/ml 및 1.2 mg/ml과 vancomycin 1 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml 및 10 mg/ml을 각각 1 : 1로 혼합한 후 0, 1, 2, 4, 12시간 시점에서 두 약물의 농도를 HPLC로 분석하였다, 방해물질에 의한 분석오차를 줄이기 위해 분석법을 여러상태에서 확인하였으며 각 농도에서 3차례씩 실험하였고 각 샘플은 반복하여 HPLC로 분석하였다. 분석전에 각 시료의 투명도, 색의 변화, 침전상태 및 pH를 검사하였다. Paclitaxel 0.3 mg/ml 및 1.2 mg/ml와 vancomycin 1 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml 및 10 mg/mt를 각각 혼합하였을 때 12시간 동안 안정하였으며 주사액의 혼탁이나 색의 변화 및 침전은 나타나지 않았으며 pH도 변하지 않았다.

Study on the Characteristics of Semen in Jeju Horse (제주마 정액의 일반성상에 관한 연구)

  • The Jeju horse has been raised for centuries in Jeju island. Recently, as the number of this indigenous horse has been dropped dramatically, this breed became Natural Monument #347 to conserve and multiply this endangered breed. To provide the basic information for AI, sexual activity and semen characteristics in Jeju horse were investigated. Jeju horse semen was collected using Missouri style artificial vagina from fertile stallion.\\`she number of mount per ejaculation was 2..3$\pm$1.8, and the ejaculation time was 27.0$\pm$12.5 seconds. The total volume and gel-free volume of semen was 47.8$\pm$26.7 ml and 42.7$\pm$27.4ml, respectively, and the concentration of sperm and the total number of spermatozoa per ejaculation was 200.7$\pm$112.9$\times$10$^{6}$ ml and 7.6$\pm$3.9$\times$10$^{9}$ ml, respectively. The percentage of motile sperm and the number of live spermatozoa per ejaculation was 75.0$\pm$18.2% and 6.1$\pm$3.4$\times$10$^{9}$ ml, respectively, and the pH of gel-free semen was 7.3$\pm$0.2. The total percentage of abnormal sperm was 31.5%, and the percentage of sperm with abnormal head, midpiece and tail was 9.5$\pm$11.7%, 7.0$\pm$4.0% and 15.0$\pm$15.0%, respectively.

  • Thirty-three Mannich bases of 2,2'-methylene bis(3,4,6-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid) were synthesized as potential antimicrobial agents and tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Trichophyton rubrum, Microsporum gypseum, Epidermophyton floccosum, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae in vitro. It was found that: 1) Compounds 24 and 22 were active against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis at the concn. of 1 $\mu$g/ml respectively; 2) Compounds 9 and 29 were active against Trichophyton rubrum at the concn. of 2 $\mu$g/ml respectively; 3) Compouns 9 and 30 were active against Microsporum gypseum at the concn. of 2 $\mu$g/ml respectively; 4) Compounds 6,9,13,15,21,28,29,31,33 and 34 were active against Epidermophyton floccosum at the concn. of 1 $\mu$g/ml respectively; 5) Compounds 6,9,18 and 28 were active against Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus oryzae at the concn. of 1 $\mu$g/ml respectively.

Bacteriological quality of ground water in Pusan area (부산시내 약수터의 세균학적 수질)

  • This experiment was carried out to evaluate the sanitary quality of ground water in Pusan area(see Fig. 1). One hundred and thirty two water samples were collected from the 11 stations from October 1981 to Sept ember 1982. To evaluate the sanitary quality, coliform group, fecal coliform, viable cell count and composition of coliform group by IMViC reaction were observed. The median value of coliform group MPN of the samples were 59/100 ml in Udong and Daesindong, 68/100 ml in Suyeong, Yeonsandong and Sungjigog, 43/100 ml in Jenpodong and Mangmidong, 33/100 ml in Yeongdo and Dongrae, and 13.3/100 ml in Gammandong. Geometric mean of fecal coliform MPM was 4.1/100ml in Udong, 8.6/100 ml in Suyeong, 8.1/100 ml in Jenpodong, 6.1/100 ml in Daesindong and Dongrae, 8.7/100 ml in Yeongdo, 7.1/100 ml in Mangmidong, 6.5/100 ml in Yeonsandong, 9.1/100 ml in Sungjigog, 3.0/100 ml in Gammandong and 7.6/100 ml in Gupo. The seasonal difference of total coliform showed much more contamination in June or July when there were more climers than in December though it was caused by the rise of loafer temperature. With 50 percentile of total coliform MPN July was about 30 times higher than December for July was 163.5/100 ml and December 5.3/100 ml, Particularly, June was about 1.3 times higher than July in contamination because of a sudden increase of people using it. Composition of coliform was $7.64\%$ Escherichia coli, group, $42.86\%$ Citrobacter freundii group, $16.78\%$ Klebsiella aerogenes group and $32.72\%$ others. Plate count of samples was varied from 48 to $4.4{\times10}^2/ml$ during the study period.

  • This study was carried out to search the natural antioxidants from the 36 medicinal plants. $IC_{50}$ values of linoleic acid peroxidation inhibition to the BHA, BHT and ${\alpha}-tocopherol$ showed $7.2{\mu}g/ml$, $7.3{\mu}g/ml$, and $26.6{\mu}g/ml$, but hexane extract of Zingiber officinale showed $13.2{\mu}g/ml$, EtOAc extracts of Phellinus linteus, Morus alba, Zingiber officinale and butanol extract of Diospyros kaki showed $15.9{\mu}g/ml$, $16.9{\mu}g/ml$, $20.1{\mu}g/ml$, and $21.5{\mu}g/ml$ respectively. $IC_{50}$ values of DPPH radical scavenging activity of BHA, BHT and $\alpha$-tocopherol showed $14.9{\sim}27.7{\mu}g/ml$, but EtOAc extract of Paeonia suffruticosa showed the lowest $6.5{\mu}g/ml$ than those of other extracts, EtOAc extracts of Camellia sinensis, Salvia miltiorrhiz, and Phellinus linteus showed $8.0{\mu}g/ml$, $11.5{\mu}g/ml$, and $13.0{\mu}g/ml$ respectively.

Effects of Granulosa cells on In Vitro Maturation of Porcine Follicular Oocytes (돼지난포란의 체외성숙에 있어서 과립막세포의 영향)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate effects of granulosa cells on mejotic maturation of porcine oocytes in vitro. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows : The germinal vesicle breakdown(GVBD) rates were 91.5, 93.3 and 96.6%, respectively, when the cumulus oocy:e cornplexes(COC) in the TCM-199 medium with sodium bicarbonate, Na pyruvate, penicillin G, streptomycin sulfate and 10% FCS were cultured in the condition of FSH(0.02 Au/ml), LH(10 $\mu$g/ml) and FSH + LH added. And when the COC were co-cultured with granulosa cell (5$\times$ 106 cells /ml) in the condition of FSH, LH and FSH + LH added, GVBD rates were 94.3, 92.9 and 98.9%, respectively. However, when the COC were cultured in the condition of hormone free and co-cultured with granulosa cells in the condition of hormone free, the GVBD rates were 40.4 and 86.3%, respectively. The GVBD rates were 41.0, 62.7, 84.6, 88.1 and 93.6%, respectively, when the COC were co-cultured with granulosa cells that the concentrations are 0 cells /ml, 1 $\times$ 106 cells /ml, 5:: 106 cells /ml, 1$\times$ 107 cells /ml and 5$\times$ 107 cells /ml.

Studies on Wax Gourd Wine (다이어트와인 동아주 제조에 관한 연구)

  • Three kinds of the mashes of 15%, 20% and 25% of boiled wax gourd containing 20% of sugar were fermented by yeast at 5~1$0^{\circ}C$ for 100 days. After fermentation, total sugar content of the 15% mash was 8.0%, 20% mash 8.6%, and 25% mash 8.3%, respectively. Also, it revealed that in reducing sugar content, 15% mash was 7.4%, 20% mash 7.6%, and 25% mash 7.4%, respectively, In protein content, 15% mash was 10.3mg/ml, 20% mash 9.8mg/ml, and 25% mash 11.3mg/ml, and in amino acid content, 15% mash was 0.13 $\mu$mo1/ml, 20% mash 0.03 $\mu$mo1/ml, and 25% mash 0.03 $\mu$mo1/ml, each. In case of pH, 15% mash was 3.88, 20% mash 3.99, and 25% mash 3.97, respectively. In acidity, 15% mash was 0.37, 20% mash 0.44. and 25% mash 0.43, respectively. In the number of yeast cell, 15% mash was 8.33 logCFU/ml, 20% mash 8.56 logCFU/ml, and 25% mash 8.57 logCFU/ml. respectively. In ethanol content, 15% mash was 13.4%, 20% mash 14.9%, and 25% mash 15.5%, respectively. In organic acid content, acetic acid, pyruvic acid, citric acid, and lactic acid were produced, and succinic acid content ranges from 1,407~1,800 mg/l. Five-grade scoring test of sensory evaluation showed that in its taste degree, 15% mash was 3.93, 20% mash 3.66 and 25% mash 3.40, respectively.

  • The concentrations of some components of the serum in a liver function test were determined in samples of 74 apparently healthy dairy cattle, imported from foreign countries in Jeonnam district, during the periods of June to September of 1975 and July to August of 1976. The ranges, mean concentrations and activities of the SGOT, SGPT, SALP, thymol turbidity, total protein, serum albumin, serum globulin, A/G ratio, total bilirubin and total cholesterol were investigated in this work. This results obtained in the survey were summarized as follows: 1. The SGOT activities obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 57 to 129 Sigma Frankel units/ml, with a mean of $96.5{\pm}19.38$ S.F. units/ml. 2. The SGPT activities obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 5 to 49 Sigma Frankel units/ml, with a mean of $21.27{\pm}9.52$ S.F units/ml. 3. The alkaline phosphatase activities of serum obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 0.3 to 3.8 Sigma Frankel units/ml, with a mean of $1.88{\pm}0.94$ S.F. units/ml. 4. The thymol turbidity of serum obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 0.2 to 4.4 Shank Hoagland units/ml, with a mean of $1.69{\pm}0.30$ S.H units/ml. 5. The total serum protein values of Holstein cows ranged from 5.9 to 8.6g/100ml with a mean of $7.17{\pm}0.65g/100ml$. 6. The serum albumin values of Holstein cows ranged from 2.5 to 4.3g/100ml with a mean of $3.24{\pm}0.28g/100ml$. 7. The serum globulin values of Holstein cows ranged from 2.9 to 5.8g/100ml with a mean of $4.02{\pm}0.72g/100ml$. 8. The A/G ratio of serum obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 0.5 to 1.0 with a mean of $0.78{\pm}0.12$. 9. The total bilirubin of serum obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 7.2 to 0.8mg/100ml, with a mean of $0.32{\pm}0.11mg/100ml$. 10. The total cholesterol of serum obtained from Holstein cows ranged from 50.5 to 240.6mg/100ml with a mean of $135.70{\pm}57.44mg/100ml$. 11. There was little difference in the concentrations of the various serum components between cow groups by birth countries and total cow group, except for SGOT activities, serum alkaline phosphatase activities, thymol turbidity of the Holstein cows from New Zealand.

In the number of yeast cell, 15% mash was 0.34%, 20% mash 0.84%, and 25% mash 1.35%, respectively. In the number of yeast cell, 15% mash was 6.30 logCFU/ml, 20% mash 6.85 logCFU/ml, and 25% mash 8.45logCFU/ml, respectively. In ethanol content, 15% mash was 11.4%, 20% mash 12,4%, and 25% mash 11.5%, respectively. Succinic acid content ranges from 1,128~1,385mg/l. In Acetic acid, 20% mash showed 2,806 mg/l and 25% mash 4,952 mg/l by acidification. Five-grade scoring test of sensory evaluation showed that in its taste degree, 15% mash was 3.26, 20% mash 3.00 and 25% mash 2.46, respectively.

Serum Carotenoid and Vitamin A Concentration of Cattle Fed on Hay and on Pasture (유우(乳牛) 및 한우(韓牛)의 혈청중(血淸中) Carotenoid 및 Vitamin A 함량(含量))

  • Sera obtained from 20 milk cows and 20 Korean cattle in group feeding and from 20 Korean cattle from different farmhouses were analyzed for the determination of carotenoid and vitamin A by Carr-Price reaction. The result obtained were as follows: 1. Carotenoid contents of sera from milk cows and Korean cattle in group feeding, and from Korean cattle from different farmhouses were in winter $394.7{\mu}g/100ml$, $157.8{\mu}g/100ml$ and $187.9{\mu}g/100ml$, respectively, and were in summer $735.3{\mu}g/100ml$, $728.2{\mu}g/100ml$ and $760.3{\mu}g/100ml$, respectively. 2. Vitamin A contents of sera from milk cows and Korean cattle in group feeding and from Korean cattle from different farmhouses were in winter 101.2 IU/100 ml, 88.9 IU/100 ml and 48.4 IU/100 ml, respectively, and were in summer 212.0 IU/100 ml, 208.7 IU/100 ml and 208.3 IU/100 ml respectively.
