Regulation of Phosphorylated cAMP Response Element-Binding Protein, Fos-Related Antigen and FosB Expression by Dopamine Agonists in Rat Striatum

  • Activation of D1-like dopamine receptors by psychostimulants, such as amphetamine, upregulates the expression of immediate early gene and opioid peptide gene in the striatum. The genomic changes are regulated by phosphorylated transcription factors via complicated intracellular events. To evaluate temporal expression of the transcription factors by dopaminergic stimulation, the D1-like dopamine agonist, amphetamine or SKF82958, was systematically delivered. As intracellular markers in response to the agonist, phosphorylated cAMP response element-binding protein (pCREB), Fos-related antigens (FRA) and FosB immunoreactivity (IR) was compared at 20 and 120 min time points in the selected areas of the striatum. Semi-quantitative immunocytochemistry showed that amphetamine (5 mg/kg, i.p.) significantly increased pCREB-IR at 20 min, sustained up to 60 min and decreased at 120 min after the infusion. Like amphetamine, the full D1 agonist, SKF82958 (0.5 mg/kg, s.c.), also increased pCREB-IR at 20 min, but not at 120 min after the infusion in the dorsal striatum (caudoputaman, CPu) and shell of ventral striatum (nucleus accumbens, NAc). In contrast, FRA- and FosB-IR induced by SKF82958 was significantly increased at 120 min, but not at 20 min after the administration. These data indicate that SKF82958 mimics induction of CREB phosphorylation by amphetamine and differentially regulates temporal induction of pCREB, and FRA and FosB expression in the striatum.

Escherichia coli O157:H7 균주의 열저항성에 미치는 예비열처리 및 Ascorbate의 효과 (Effects of Preheating and Ascorbate on Heat Resistance of Escherichia coli O157:H7)

  • A study was undertaken to determine the thermal inactivation of Escherichia coli O157:H7 as influenced by the effects of temperature, time, suspension medium and ascorbate. Tryptic soy broth was more heat resistant than pfosphate buffer (pH 7.1), with D values of 1.52~1.68 min at 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 1.51~1.63 min at 7$0^{\circ}C$ compared with 1.52~1.65 min at 6$0^{\circ}C$ and 1.26~1.61 min at 7$0^{\circ}C$ for phosphate buffer as suspension medium. E. coli O157:H7 was completely inhibited within 30 min when small inoculum (106 CFU/$m\ell$) was heated at 7$0^{\circ}C$. When E. coli O157:H7 was preheated at 48$^{\circ}C$ for 60 min in phosphate buffer before heating, D values were 1.28~1.60 min at 6$0^{\circ}C$, and 1.13~1.56 min at 7$0^{\circ}C$, showing that preheating increases the heat resistance of the strain. Phosphate buffer containing ascorbate (0.001 M) was enhanced the thermal inactivation of the strain when inoculated as large inoculum (109 CFU/$m\ell$), while ascorbic acid was no effect at low cell concentrations (109 CFU/$m\ell$).

인력물자취급의 권장안전하중에 대한 생리학적 고찰 (Physiological viewpoint of the recommended safe weights of load for manual materials handling tasks)

  • The objective of this study was to make a comparison of the oxygen consumption rates during the lifting activities and the physiological criteria of the recommended weights of RWL, AL, and MPL by NIOSH Guideline. The physical Work Capacity (PWC) based on the bicycle ergometer was 2562.71ml/min, and the one based on the treadmill was 2874.89ml/min for the college male students of Korea. Lifting activities with four different lifting frequencies(2, 5, 8, 11 lifts/min) for one lifting range from floor to 76cm height were studied. The oxygen consumption rates and the heart rates were measured or recorded while subjects were lifting the weight of RWL, AL, and MPL. The heart rates and the oxygen consumption rates increased as the frequency increased from 2 to lifts/min. However, those slightly decreased at the frequency of 11 lifts/ min. The measured oxygen consumption rates were ranging from 2.3% to 29.6% higher than the physiological criteria 620, 700, and 1000ml/min, respectively, of the RWL, AL, and MPL for all the lifting frequencies (5, 8, 11 lift/min) except 2 lifts/min. It si suggested that the physiological criteria of NIOSH Guideline should be based on the lifting PWC, which can consider the type of lifting activity and the frequency of the task, rather than using the PWC by ergometer or treadmill. The measured oxygen consumption rates were ranging from 13.26% to 40.11% higher than the values estimated using the models by Garg and Kim. From these findings it is suggested that the NIOSH Equation should not be directly applied to Korean without resonable modifications.

단위 모듈을 이용한 MIN의 점증적 설계 (Incremental Design of MIN using Unit Module)

  • 본 논문에서는 적은 비용으로 효율적인 패킷 스위칭 상호연결 네트워크를 구성할수 있는 새로운 부류의 MIN (Multistage Interconnection Network)인 SCMIN(ShortCut MIN)을 제안한다. SCMIN은 기존 MIN에서의 스위칭 소자 갯수 보다 매우 적은 수인 2.5N-4 개의 스위칭 소자만을 사용할지라도 FAC(Full Access Capability)를 만족하고, 또한 프로세서-메모리 쌍에 대해 다수개의 중복 경로를 제공할 수 있게 된다. SCMIN은 통신이 빈번하게 발생되는 프로세서 메모리 클리스터에 보다 짧은 경로를 제공하고, 또한 이들에 대한 대체 경로를 제공하여 지역화된 통신 형태의 응용 분야에 적합하도록 설계되었다. 따라서 SCMIN은 공유 메모리 다중 프로세서 시스템에서 지역화된 통신 형태를 갖는 병렬 응용 분야에 적합한 MIN으로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

편광 투과율을 이용한 대비 민감도(Cs) 특성 연구 (Study of Contrast Sensitivities using Polarizer-Transmittance)

  • 대비 민감도를 측정할 대비 휘도는 두 편광 판의 회전과 spectrophotometer로 측정한 가시광 영역의 투과율 면적(T%nm)을 이용하였다. 2개의 contrast 값으로부터 contrast sensitivity(Cs) 계산은 평균 contrast, $L_{max}$${\theta}_{max}$ 값을 일정하게 한 후 $L_{min}$ ${\theta}_{min}$값을 계산하여 얻었다. 실험결과 $L_{max}=4000(T%nm)$, ${\theta}_{max}=44.1^{\circ}$로 고정시키고, Cs값이 2.5 및 100에서 $L_{min}$값은 각각 1333, 2666 및 3920(T%nm)이고, ${\theta}_{min}$값은 각각 56.6, 54.3 및 $45^{\circ}$이다.

Effect of Renal Ischemia in Tetraethylammonium Transport in Rabbit Renal Coritcal Slices

  • This study was carried out to determine effect of acute renal ischemia on transport function of organic cation, tetraethylammonium (TEA), in rabbit kidney proximal tubule. Clamping of the renal artery for 30 and 60 min produced a polyuria which was accompanied by an increase in $Na^+$ excretion. The capacity of kidney cortical slices to accumulate TEA was increased after 30 and 60 min of ischemia. When blood flow was restored for 30 min after 30 and 60 min of ischemia, the augmented TEA uptake was recovered to the control values. Oxygen consumption of cortical slices was stimulated after 30 min of ischemia, whereas it was not altered by 60 min of ischemia. A 90-min ischemia produced a significant inhibition of TEA uptake and tissue oxygen consumption. These results suggest that the basolateral transport system for organic cation persists after ischemic periods of 60 min despite evidence that tubular reabsorptive mechanism of $Na^+$ and water is markedly impaired. This may indicate that the active secretory systems of proximal tubule are more resistant to ischemic injury than the reabsorptive systems.

  • Objectives This study was to report the effect of oriental medical treatment and dietetic therapy on metabolic syndrome. Method We treated three cases of metabolic syndrome patients with herbal medicine, electroacupuncture, cupping a boil, dietetic therapy, aerobic exercise were done during the treatment period. Result After treatment the diagnostic index(waist circumference, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, blood pressure, fasting glucose) was improved. Conclusion The patient with Metabolic syndrome was improved using oriental medical treatment and dietetic therapy.

연속 정련축소 장치의 특성 연구 -로터드럼형과 컨베이어형- (A Study on the Characteristics of Continuous Scouring and Shrinking Equipment -Rota-drum and conveyor type-)

  • In this study, polyester DTY faille(yoryu) and N/NP microfiber fabrics were pretreated (desizing, scouring and shrinking) by Continuous Scouring and Shringking Equipment with rota-drum and conveyor type in which types were different with retaining method. The results were as follows. The shrinkage ratio of wp/wf direction of DTY fabrics scoured by conveyor type was 1.5/23% higher than those by rota-drum type at $97^\circ{C}$ with 10min. treatment. In this case, The shrinkage ratio of wp/wf direction by those types was about 15/27%, respectively. The shrinkage ratio of wp/wf direction of N/NP microfiber fabrics scoured by conveyor type was 1.5/23% higher than that by rota-drum type at $97^\circ{C}$ with 10min. treatment. The size add-on of DTY fabrics scoured at $97^\circ{C}$ with 10min. treatment by conveyor type and by rota-drum type were 0.15% and 0.42%, respectively. The size add-on of DTY fabric treated by rota-drum type decreased until 9min. of treated time, but increased after 9min. The size add-on of N/NP microfiber fabrics treated by conveyor type was decreased by increasing temperature and treated time, while the size add-on of that treated by rota-drum type was decreased until 6min. treated time and increased after 6min. The size add-on of N/NP microfiber fabrics treated by conveyor type at $97^\circ{C}$ for 10min. was 0.3% lower than that by rota-drum type.

ET filament의 승온열처리에 의한 구조 및 물성에 관한 연구 (A Study On the Structure and Mechanical Properties of Isothermally Annealed after Elevated heating of PET filaments)

  • The change of crystalline structure and mechanical properties of PET filaments were investigated. Samples were treated by isothermally annealed after elevated heating. Measurements were carried out of density gradient tube for crystallinity and UTM for initial modulus and yield stress. Isothermally heat treatment were carried out $100^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$, $140^{\circ}C$ for 10min., 30min., 60min, in silicon oil bath. And isothermally heat treatment after elevated heating from $20^{\circ}C$ were carried out $100^{\circ}C$, $120^{\circ}C$, $140^{\circ}C$ for 10min., 30min., 60min., with heating rate of $5^{\circ}C/min$., $10^{\circ}C/min$. From the results of this study, it found the following facts. It was found that the crystallinity, initial modulus and yield stress of samples were increased with increasing of annealed temperature and time. Also crystallinity, initial modulus and yield stress of samples which were isothermally annealed after elevated heating from $20^{\circ}C$ were larger than those of isohtermally annealed samples.

간헐포기 MBR공정에서 포기시간에 따른 운전특성 평가 (Evaluation of Operation Characteristics with Aeration Time in Intermittent Aeration Membrane Bioreactor)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the operation characteristics with aeration time in intermittent aeration membrane bioreactor. The BOD removal efficiency rate of this process was over than 97% regardless of aeration on/off time. To get over than 82% of nitrogen removal efficiency rate, aeration off time needs more than 70 minutes in reactor. Specific denitrfication rate was 2.68 mg $NO_3-N/gMv/hr$ in 40/80 min aeration on/off time, was 2.6 times more than 60/60 min, and 1.4 times more than 50/70 min in 6,300 mg/L of MLSS concentration. Specific nitrification rate was 1.96 mg $NH_4-N/gMv/hr$ in 50/70 min, was 1.4 times more than 40/80 min, but it was effectded little upon nitrification. Microbial activity was effected little according to aeration on/off time, oxygen demend was reduced according to aeration off time increased and microbial concentration increased. The longer aeration off time become, the higher Extraceller Pollymeric Substance (EPS), 50/70 min and 40/80 min in aeration on/off time was increased 1.6 times and 2.7 times, respectively more than 60/60 min because of increase of operation pressure.
