The speech recognition is an active research area in the human computer interface (HCI). The objective of this study is to control digital devices with voices. In addition, the mouse is used as a computer peripheral tool which is widely used and provided in graphical user interface (GUI) computing environments. In this paper, we propose a method of controlling the mouse with the real-time speech recognition function of a smartphone. The processing steps include extracting the core voice signal after receiving a proper length voice input with real time, to perform the quantization by using the learned code book after feature extracting with mel frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC), and to finally recognize the corresponding vowel using hidden markov model (HMM). In addition a virtual mouse is operated by mapping each vowel to the mouse command. Finally, we show the various mouse operations on the desktop PC display with the implemented smartphone application.
In this research, we have explored personal authentication system through multimodal biometrics for mobile computing environment. We have selected face and speaker recognition for the implementation of multimodal biometrics system. For face recognition part, we detect the face with Modified Census Transform (MCT). Detected face is pre-processed through eye detection module based on k-means algorithm. Then we recognize the face with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithm. For speaker recognition part, we extract features using the end-point of voice and the Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC). Then we verify the speaker through Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) algorithm. Our proposed multimodal biometrics system shows improved verification rate through combining two different biometrics described above. We implement our proposed system based on Android environment using Galaxy S hoppin. Proposed system presents reduced false acceptance ratio (FAR) of 1.8% which shows improvement from single biometrics system using the face and the voice (presents 4.6% and 6.7% respectively).
In this paper, we study the efficient feature vector extraction method and front-end processing to improve the performance of the speech recognition system using KT(Korea Telecommunication) database collected through various telephone channels. First of all, we compare the recognition performances of the feature vectors known to be robust to noise and environmental variation and verify the performance enhancement of the recognition system using weighted cepstral distance measure methods. The experiment result shows that the recognition rate is increasedby using both PLP(Perceptual Linear Prediction) and MFCC(Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient) in comparison with LPC cepstrum used in KT recognition system. In cepstral distance measure, the weighted cepstral distance measure functions such as RPS(Root Power Sums) and BPL(Band-Pass Lifter) help the recognition enhancement. The application of the spectral subtraction method decrease the recognition rate because of the effect of distortion. However, RASTA(RelAtive SpecTrAl) processing, CMS(Cepstral Mean Subtraction) and SBR(Signal Bias Removal) enhance the recognition performance. Especially, the CMS method is simple but shows high recognition enhancement. Finally, the performances of the modified methods for the real-time implementation of CMS are compared and the improved method is suggested to prevent the performance degradation.
This paper proposes a feature extraction method using wavelet transform for speech recognition. Speech recognition system generally carries out the recognition task based on speech features which are usually obtained via time-frequency representations such as Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and Linear Predictive Coding(LPC). In some respects these methods may not be suitable for representing highly complex speech characteristics. They map the speech features with same may not frequency resolutions at all frequencies. Wavelet transform overcomes some of these limitations. Wavelet transform captures signal with fine time resolutions at high frequencies and fine frequency resolutions at low frequencies, which may present a significant advantage when analyzing highly localized speech events. Based on this motivation, this paper investigates the effectiveness of wavelet transform for feature extraction of wavelet transform for feature extraction focused on enhancing speech recognition. The proposed method is implemented using Sampled Continuous Wavelet Transform (SCWT) and its performance is tested on a speaker-independent isolated word recognizer that discerns 50 Korean words. In particular, the effect of mother wavelet employed and number of voices per octave on the performance of proposed method is investigated. Also the influence on the size of mother wavelet on the performance of proposed method is discussed. Throughout the experiments, the performance of proposed method is discussed. Throughout the experiments, the performance of proposed method is compared with the most prevalent conventional method, MFCC (Mel0frequency Cepstral Coefficient). The experiments show that the recognition performance of the proposed method is better than that of MFCC. But the improvement is marginal while, due to the dimensionality increase, the computational loads of proposed method is substantially greater than that of MFCC.

In order to solve the problems of the existing audio fingerprint method when extracting audio fingerprints from long speech segments, such as too large fingerprint dimension, poor robustness, and low retrieval accuracy and efficiency, a robust audio fingerprint retrieval method based on feature dimension reduction and feature combination is proposed. Firstly, the Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient (MFCC) and linear prediction cepstrum coefficient (LPCC) of the original speech are extracted respectively, and the MFCC feature matrix and LPCC feature matrix are combined. Secondly, the feature dimension reduction method based on information entropy is used for column dimension reduction, and the feature matrix after dimension reduction is used for row dimension reduction based on energy feature dimension reduction method. Finally, the audio fingerprint is constructed by using the feature combination matrix after dimension reduction. When speech's user retrieval, the normalized Hamming distance algorithm is used for matching retrieval. Experiment results show that the proposed method has smaller audio fingerprint dimension and better robustness for long speech segments, and has higher retrieval efficiency while maintaining a higher recall rate and precision rate.
In this paper, we propose new speech feature parameter using NMf(Non-Negative Matrix Factorization). NMF can represent multi-dimensional data based on effective dimensional reduction through matrix factorization under the non-negativity constraint, and reduced data present parts-based features of input data. In this paper, we verify about usefulness of NMF algorithm for speech feature extraction applying feature parameter that is got using NMF in Mel-scaled filter bank output. According to recognition experiment result, we could confirm that proposal feature parameter is superior in recognition performance than MFCC(mel frequency cepstral coefficient) that is used generally.

As the COVID-19 pandemic rapidly changes healthcare around the globe, the need for smart healthcare that allows for remote diagnosis is increasing. The current classification of respiratory diseases cost high and requires a face-to-face visit with a skilled medical professional, thus the pandemic significantly hinders monitoring and early diagnosis. Therefore, the ability to accurately classify and diagnose respiratory sound using deep learning-based AI models is essential to modern medicine as a remote alternative to the current stethoscope. In this study, we propose a deep learning-based respiratory sound classification model using data collected from medical experts. The sound data were preprocessed with BandPassFilter, and the relevant respiratory audio features were extracted with Log-Mel Spectrogram and Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC). Subsequently, a Parallel CNN network model was trained on these two inputs using stacking ensemble techniques combined with various machine learning classifiers to efficiently classify and detect abnormal respiratory sounds with high accuracy. The model proposed in this paper classified abnormal respiratory sounds with an accuracy of 96.9%, which is approximately 6.1% higher than the classification accuracy of baseline model.
This paper proposes a frame reliability weighting method to compensate for a time-selective noise that occurs at random positions of speech signal contaminating certain parts of the speech signal. Speech frames have different degrees of reliability and the reliability is proportional to SNR (signal-to noise ratio). While it is feasible to estimate frame Sl? by using the noise information from non-speech interval under a stationary noisy situation, it is difficult to obtain noise spectrum for a time-selective noise. Therefore, we used statistical models of clean speech for the estimation of the frame reliability. The proposed MFR (model-based frame reliability) approximates frame SNR values using filterbank energy vectors that are obtained by the inverse transformation of input MFCC (mal-frequency cepstral coefficient) vectors and mean vectors of a reference model. Experiments on various burnt noises revealed that the proposed method could represent the frame reliability effectively. We could improve the recognition performance by using MFR values as weighting factors at the likelihood calculation step.
This paper presents a new music identification method using probabilistic and dynamic characteristics of melody. The propo3ed method uses pitch and MFCC parameters as feature vectors for the characteristics of music notes and represents melody pattern by pitch histogram and temporal sequence of codeword indices. We also propose a new pattern matching method for the hybrid method. We have tested the proposed algorithm in small (drama OST) and broad (1.005 popular songs) search spaces. The experimental results on search areas of OST and 1,005 popular songs showed better performance of the proposed method over conventional methods. We achieved the performance improvement of average $9.9\%$ and $10.2\%$ in error reduction rate on each search area.
