  • Automatic Train Stop (ATS) is a device that automatically stops or decelerates a train when the train exceeds the permitted speed limits or violates the signal regulations. The railway signaling system has been evolved to an automatic train control system (ATC), and is being developed into Distance-to-Go and Communication Based on Train Control (CBTC). In spite of that, the ATS system is currently being operated in Seoul Metro (line 1 and 2) and most of railway lines in Korea as well as overseas. In this study, we presents the technical methodology to prevent human errors in order to secure the safety in operation of the ATS system.

  • This research paper is to analyze the specific situation for the 157 failure cases of Seoul Metro power cable since 1990 and to consider the countermeasures. This is, also, to prevent accidents by analyzing the current state of each Line, the failure of causes, railroad tracks, installation year, opening year, and monthly failure conditions and by presenting the countermeasures. In addition, this research is to discuss the present installation situation of Seoul Metro power cable, the types of power cable, symptoms, causes and the countermeasures.

Performance Analysis of Metro WDM Star Network based on An Arrayed Waveguide Grating

  • In this paper, we analyze the performance of a reliable, scalable, and cost-effective switchless wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) network based on an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG). The network efficiency is significantly increased by spatially reusing wavelengths and exploiting multiple free spectral ranges (FSRs) of the AWG employed in the architecture. We have analyzed the performance of this architecture by simulating in $Optsim^{TM}$ with a control channel which exploits the broadband light source, i.e., an LED. The data was successfully transmitted to a distance of 30 km without using any EDFA's in the network, with a reasonable BER of $4.0530{\times}10^{-14}$.   • We consider the multi-objective optimization of a multi-service arrayed-waveguide grating-based single-hop metro WDM network with the two conflicting objectives of maximizing throughput while minimizing delay. We develop and evaluate a genetic algorithm based methodology for finding the optimal throughput-delay tradeoff curve, the so-called Pareto-optimal frontier. Our methodology provides the network architecture and the Medium Access Control protocol parameters that achieve the Pareto-optima in a computationally efficient manner. The numerical results obtained with our methodology provide the Pareto-optimal network planning and operation solution for a wide range of traffic scenarios. The presented methodology is applicable to other networks with a similar throughput-delay tradeoff.

  • 본 논문에서는 MEF(Metro Ethernet Forum) 기술 문서를 기반으로 메트로 이더넷 망을 위한 보호 기술을 소개하고 메트로 이더넷 망을 위한 링크 보호 알고리즘을 설계한다. 제안한 링크 보호 알고리즘은 각 서비스가 요구하는 링크 복구 시간(restoration time)을 고려하여 백업 경로를 미리 설정하는 방법과 장애가 발생한 이후에 우회 경로를 설정하는 방법을 사용한다. 백업 경로를 미리 설정함에 따라 자원의 이용률이 감소하므로 이를 해결하기 위하여 백업 경로 간 자원의 공유 방법을 도입하였으며, 서비스 특성에 따라 복구 경로에서 제한된 QoS를 제공하도록 하여 망의 가용성을 증가시일 수 있다.

  • Pantograph sliding plate abrasion auto-detect system, one of the electric rail car auto-detecting devices, is a system that decides how much abrasion and when to replace without an inspector physically looking at the abrasion on the wet plate using machine vision, a cutting-edge technology. This paper covers the cause of deteriorating reliability that affects pantograph wet plate edge detection due to noise added to the video when it rains. In order to remove such noise, problems should be checked through Smoothing, Averaging mask and Median filter using filtering technique and stable edge detection without being affected by noise should be induced in video measurement used in machine vision technology.

  • Recently, ubiquitous sensor network forms the self-organization network, and transfers the information among sensor nodes that have computing technology ability. In this paper, we design and implement U-IT system for monitoring the safety of metro railway and underground shopping malls. For this, we implement sensor nodes to support IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication standard using low power. Also we implement USN gateway node system to transmit the collected data from sensor nodes to database server over CDMA cellular network.

  • Central government and local self-governing bodies are actively promoting bicycle-riding as a solution for transportation, environment, energy and health. They put lot of efforts in the practice of bicycle-related policies such as building bicycle-related infrastructure and creating task force team to improve the bicycle-related systems. However, there is no substantive improvement in the city rail operation agencies regarding the bicycle-related facilities and operation. The expansion of bicycle-related infrastructure in city rail stations is urgently required considering the increase in demands from the bicycle-riders for the facility and bicycle-related service improvement. Accordingly, this study suggests a bicycle-riding vitalization plan linking the city rail and bicycle by providing with a bicycle custody place in the city rail stations which will have comprehensive convenience facilities including the safe-keeping facility for bicycles.

  • 보편화된 카드 사용은 현금 사용과 달리 지출의 파악이 어려워 과소비를 조장한다. 불필요한 지출을 줄여 합리적인 소비활동을 위해서 본 논문에서는 카드 결제 시 수신 받는 SMS를 통합적으로 관리하여 결제 내역을 분석할 수 있도록 해주는 카드 결제내역 관리 앱을 제안한다. 터치환경에 적합한 Metro UI를 메인화면에 사용하여 메인에서 모든 메뉴로의 접근을 가능하게 하였고, 사용 내역을 수동으로 입력하지 않아도 SMS를 자동으로 분석하여 쉽고 빠르게 이용 가능하다.
