  • The MBSE design method using UML has not been well exhibited throughout the overall system design processes. There has been many different modeling usages of UML for system requirements proposed by many till now. The extension of UML to system modeling must demonstrate consistent representation rule throughout the overall processes. This study proposes the method of using UML with overal consistency to implement system design processes. to validate and verify the proposed UML approaches, a case study of ATACMS Block IA missile system design was implemented and the resulting products were shown. phases of the systems engineering design process, logical solution development, and physical solution development, were demonstrated

  • In order to achieve iterative design in early R&D period, a Distributed and Real-time Integrated Simulation System for avionics based on a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) method is proposed. The proposed simulation system includes driver, simulation model, monitor, flight visual model and aircraft external model.The effect of this simulation system in iterative design and system verification is testified by several use cases. The result shows that the simulation system, which can play an important role in iterative design and system verification, can reduce project costs and shorten the entire R&D period.

  • For efficient and economical train operation in low-density railway line, on-board oriented train control system, which reduces expensive wayside equipment, is being developed. In this paper, we discuss a tram signal priority strategy which enables efficient and safe train operation when the developing system is applied to train-tram railway environment. Based on the well-known transit signal priority strategies, we develop a tram signal priority algorithm and conduct simulations by using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tool. Various considerations such as operation procedure, linkage to existing road traffic system, applicability with respect to crossroad types, and so on, are also dealt with.

  • In traditional Document Based Configuration Management(DBCM) environment, changes in a system's configurations are hard to be reflected to existing engineering documents. This nature of DBCM triggers unconformities of system configurations which could become great risks. Model-based Configuration Management(MBCM) has been introduced to solve the problem of DBCM by managing system's configurations through an unified model. Therefore, it is important to model engineering documents in a general modeling language, down to low-level information items to develop traceability and flexibility of a system's engineering information. So, in the research, to explore the possibility of Model-based Approach(MBA) in the field of configuration management, a development of a systems requirement document model using SysML based Views & Viewpoints concept has been studied.

  • In these days, innovative functions are required to unmanned parcel delivery lockers. As non-face-to-face transactions become the center due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, many problem occurs in society such as theft crimes and lack of loading space. Therefore, New concept storage device is developed in korea. It has the functions that minimizes empty spaces by using the internal transport device to enable efficient space loading and refrigerate goods such as foods. In order to systematically approach the system design of the unmanned parcel delivery lockers which is the new function is applied, We applied model-based system engineering to improve the development efficiency and use a system modeling language to express the system. We conducted interworking research of CAD data including system modeling and design data. it is expected that this method will increase the effective development efficiency such as maintenance traceability and reduction of development period and cost.

  • The conventional systems engineering has been performed mainly based on documentation artifacts. Although the Document-Based Systems Engineering has played a very important role in developing and deploying systems, it is difficult for systems engineers to build, to clarify, and to reuse the operational, functional and physical views of the System of Interest (SOI) efficiently. An information-age approach to this problem is the Model-Based Systems Engineering which has been emerging as a very productive solution for stakeholders to define, and understand the desired systems easily, to communicate and collaborate efficiently among each other, and also to verify and validate the systems solutions effectively. This paper proposes a set of MBSE process, methods, and models for use during the systems analysis and design phase of the naval combat system development. An example application of the proposed approach was exercised and a set of artifacts was generated for an export combat system project to demonstrate its effectiveness.

A Plug-in Development for Interworking between SysML Model and Plant Information (SysML모델과 플랜트정보 간 상호연동을 위한 플러그인 개발)

  • Due to difficulties in tracking design information of existing document-based configuration management, the research on the development of plant SysML model was started to apply the model-based system engineering methodology to comprehensively manage various design information. However, until now, in order to create the SysML model, the engineers are checking the design information and inputting it to the SysML model. This process requires a lot of time and manpower, it is required to minimize it. Therefore, this study has recognized the problem, a plug-in that extracts the plant design information in the design document and automatically converts the SysML plant model from it. Specifically, the development was performed in the following order. First, the extraction file was selected as the most commonly used Excel file as the plant design document. Next, the design information in the document was analyzed, and extracted information including tag number, name, and the capacity were selected. Finally, the plant SysML model conversion module was implemented. The developed plug-in is confirmed that the task load of the engineers by the SysML model conversion can be minimized and the model can be generated more quickly and accurately.

  • Reliability means that a product maintains its initial quality and performance at certain period of time(time, distance, cycle etc) under given condition without failure. Given conditions include both environmental condition and operating condition. Environmental condition means common natural environment such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and working condition means artificial environment such as voltage, current load, install place, hours of use, which occurs during using the product. In the field of railway vehicles, although components of railway vehicles with reliability are the trend of mandatory as persisting period of railway vehicles is extended, using components of railway vehicles is insufficient for the practical reliability assessment. but the meaning of the first railway operating agency to acquire the parts in the field, the data suggest the reliability of products if you can and can show the reliability of modular units and modular units can provide the reliability of if you can present reliability of the entire system is thought to be here In this study, lifespan of micro-switch for master controller is analyzed and prediction is performed based on its field data considering the special circumstances of railway vehicles operating agency, such as a large number of trains operates on the same line.

A Systems Engineering Approach to Implementing Hardware Cybersecurity Controls for Non-Safety Data Network

  • A model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach to implementing hardware-based network cybersecurity controls for APR1400 non-safety data network is presented in this work. The proposed design was developed by implementing packet filtering and deep packet inspection functions to control the unauthorized traffic and malicious contents. Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack was considered as a potential cybersecurity issue that may threaten the data availability and integrity of DCS gateway servers. Logical design architecture was developed to simulate the behavior of functions flow. HDL-based physical architecture was modelled and simulated using Xilinx ISE software to verify the design functionality. For effective modelling process, enhanced function flow block diagrams (EFFBDs) and schematic design based on FPGA technology were together developed and simulated to verify the performance and functional requirements of network security controls. Both logical and physical design architectures verified that hardware-based cybersecurity controls are capable to maintain the data availability and integrity. Further works focus on implementing the schematic design to an FPGA platform to accomplish the design verification and validation processes.

  • The development of hull curved plate forming automation system in ship production field begins from the need of stakeholders such as enterprise organization, who need the reduction of cost and time and improvement of productivity, and end users who work for this production process. Even though hull curved plate forming automation system has small scale, it is reasonable to consider the system as an interdisciplinary system, because the system includes all of hardware, software, human and information and has a specified objective to be performed. In this paper, introduction of 4 leading Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)methodologies is described and SysML(Systems Modeling Language), which is designed to analyze, specify, design, and verify complex systems, is introduced in order to support those methodologies. Especially, SysML is applied to system modeling of hull curved plate forming automation system and focused on. The structure diagrams and behavior diagrams based on operational context of the automation system are used to make system architecture. The performed application of SysML to the hull curved plate forming automation system shows an example of applying SysML to the development of other autonomous systems in ship production domain.
