Improvement of DS System using Transversal Filter for Advanced Duty Rate on Meteor Burst Channel (유성 버스트 채널 도통율 향상을 위해 Transversal Filter를 적용한 DS시스템의 개선)

  • In spite of many advantages of Meteor Burst Communications(MBC) on its transmission channel, the fact that its duty rate is less than 10 percents is a considerable deficiency of MBC. To overcome with this deficiency without paying large cost, we use a direct sequence(DS) simple reception system. This method doesn't need to add the components for acquisition or tracking the signal so that it keeps the cost efficiency of the MBC. But it has a disadvantage that its duty rate shows a large decline by noise. For this problem we adopt the proposed system applying a transversal filter circuit. The improvement by this method is more significant when the received signal is weak Simulation results show as t1 is 100ms, then the burst length would be increased by 35% when the initial value of the received signal power increases by 3 dB, t2 is 135ms. If the power increases by 6dB the burst length would be 170ms thus increased by 70%, which shows a great enhancement. Suppose now that t1 is 50ms and the power is increased by 3dB, then t2 would be increased by 70% to 85ms, and increasing the power by 6dB it would be increased by 130% to 115ms.

Rule-Based Anchor Shot Detection Method in News Video: KBS and MBC 9 Hour News Cases (규칙기반 뉴스 비디오 앵커 TIT 검출방법: KBS와 MBC 9시 뉴스를 중심으로)

  • In this paper, an anchor shot detection method, which is a basic technology for managing news videos for index and retrieval purposes is proposed. To do that, two most popular news program such as 'KBS 9 Hour News' and 'MBC 9 Hour News' are analyzed and 4-step rule based detection method is proposed First, in the preprocessing, video shot boundaries are detected and the 1st frame of each shot is extracted as a key frame. Then, the detected shot is declared as an anchor shot, if all the following 4 conditions are satisfied. 1) There is an anchor face in the key frame of a shot. 2) Spatial distribution of edges in the key frame is adequate. 3) Background color information of the key frame is similar to the color information of an anchor model. 4) Motion rate in the shot is low. In order to show the validity of the proposed method, three 'KBS 9 Hour News' and three 'MBC 9 Hour News', which have total running time of 108 in minute and are broadcasted at different days, are used for experiments. Average detection rates showed 0.97 in precision, 1.0 in recall, and 0.98 in F-measure.

Efficacy of Disinfectants against Health-Associated Multi-drug Resistant Clinical Isolates

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the disinfecting efficacy of peracetic acid (PAA), sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and phenol, which are representative disinfectants in medical environments using four types of multi-drug resistance (MDR) clinical isolates with healthcare-associated infections (HAI). 26 antibiotic susceptibility tests were conducted for the four types of MDR clinical isolates in the same way as for clinical specimens. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of the disinfectants were determined by using in vitro liquid medium dilution method and inoculation of the plate medium. Both the MIC and MBC of phenol against MRSA and VRE were 3.1%, while those against KPC and MRPA were 6.2%. The MIC and MBC of peracetic acid (PAA) against MRSA, VRE, KPC, and MRPA were 0.18%. The MIC and MBC of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) against MRSA were 0.39% and 0.78%, respectively. Both values of MIC and MBC were 0.78% for VRE. In addition, KPC and MRPA showed 0.39% for MIC and 0.78% for MBC. For all MDR strains used in this study, sodium hypochlorite and peracetic acid showed significant sterilizing efficiency, while no clear correlation was identified between antibiotic resistance clinical isolated and ability of disinfection.

  • This study examines how international song festivals shaped Korean musicians' sense of the world in the 1970s and early 1980s. After the Korean composer, Yi Pongjo, won a top-10 prize at the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival in 1970, an astonishing number of Korean musicians participated in international song festivals held in Japan. Meanwhile, Korean broadcasting companies strengthened their cooperative relationship with Japanese television stations and initiated their own international song festivals in the late 1970s: Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC)'s Seoul International Song Festival in 1978 and Tongyang Broadcasting Corporation (TBC)'s World Song Festival in 1979. During the first two years of its festival, MBC organized its song contest by collaborating with television stations in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and the ASEAN countries. However, the World Song Festival was more critically acclaimed because TBC invited renowned musicians from America and European countries, including Yugoslavia, in collaboration with the International Federation of Festival Organizations (FIDOF). Thus, from 1980, FIDOF helped MBC attract composers and singers from Europe and America to their Seoul International Song Festival. This paper sheds light on connections within the popular music arena between South Korea and the outside world during the Cold War-a subject that has been poorly examined.

  • 세계최고의 금속활자본인 '직지'가 다시 태어났다. 지난해 12월3일 MBC창사특집으로 방영된 드라마 '직지'가 바로 그것. 독일의 구텐베르크가 펴낸 '42행 성서'보다 70여년 앞선 것이라는 역사적 관점에만 초점이 맞춰졌던 직지. 그런데 이번에 방영된 드라마 '직지'는 인간의 사랑과 부처의 자비가 다르지 않다는 본연의 편찬정신과 그 의미를 새롭게 각인시켰다는 평가를 받았다.

Occurrence of UV Filters in Nakdong River Basin : Mainstreams, Tributaries and STP Effluents (낙동강 수계에서의 자외선 차단제류 검출 특성 : 본류, 지류 및 하수처리장 방류수)

  • This study was investigated occurrence and distribution patterns of UV filters in Nakdong River basin (mainstream, tributaries and sewage treatment plant (STP) effluents). 5 (EHS, BP-3, 4-MBC, BZC and EHMC) out of 7 UV filters were detected in 5 out of 20 sampling sites (mainstream and tributaries), 7 UV filters were not detected in mainstream samples, and the EHS, BP-3, 4-MBC, BZC and EHMC concentration levels in tributary samples were ND~60.8 ng/L, ND~72.1 ng/L, ND~57.2 ng/L, ND~60.1 ng/L and ND~85.2 ng/L, respectively. 5 (EHS, BP-3, 4-MBC, BZC and EHMC) out of 7 UV filters were detected in effluents of 11 STPs around the Nakdong River basin. The EHS, BP-3, 4-MBC, BZC and EHMC concentration levels in 11 STP effluents were ND~89.3 ng/L, ND~90.8 ng/L, ND~88.1 ng/L, ND~118.5 ng/L and ND~104.4 ng/L, respectively. According to the sampling season, distribution patterns and detected concentrations of 5 UV filters were similar in June and September 2014, but change ranges of distribution patterns and detected concentrations of 5 UV filters were highly variable in April and November 2014.

Susceptibility of Mutans streptococci in the Planktonic and Biofilm State to Erythrosine (부유 상태와 바이오필름 상태에서 Mutans streptococci의 Erythrosine에 대한 감수성 평가)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the susceptibility of Mutans streptococci in both planktonic and biofilm states to erythrosine. S. mutans was cultured in brain-heart infusion (BHI) broth. Erythrosine was diluted in BHI broth and prepared at a concentration range of $0.02-10000{\mu}g/L$. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were measured using the microdilution method. After forming biofilms on 96-well plates, the minimum biofilm inhibitory concentration (MBIC) and minimum biofilm eradication concentration (MBEC) were measured. S. mutans was susceptible to erythrosine in both planktonic and biofilm states. MIC and MBC values were both $19.5{\mu}g/L$ for the planktonic state, while MBIC and MBEC values were $313{\mu}g/L$ and $2500{\mu}g/L$, respectively, for the biofilm state. Erythrosine ($19.5{\mu}g/L$) exhibited a bactericidal effect on S. mutans (killing 99.9%) in the planktonic state. For biofilms, erythrosine inhibited biofilm growth and eradicated 99.9% of biofilm bacteria at higher concentrations than MIC and MBC. These MBIC and MBEC concentrations are much lower than known noxious doses, and the MIC, MBC, and MBIC values were even lower than clinical concentrations.

  • 민주주의의 꽃, 제 20 대 국회의원 선거가 막을 내렸다. 지난 선거에서는 방송사뿐만 아니라 정당들도 엄청난 비용 지출과 노력이 소요되었다. 한 예로, 지난 4. 13 총선거 (제 20 대 국회의원)에서 방송 3 사 출구조사 비용으로 약 66 억원 이상이 지출됐다. 그리고 정당에서는 여론조사 비용으로 약 70 억원 이상을 지출했다. 이러한 큰 비용 지출과, 담당자들의 노력을 줄이기 위해 본 논문에서는 텍스트 마이닝과 감정분석을 적용한 후보 당선자 예측 어플리케이션을 제안한다. 첫째, 소셜 그래프 모델을 소개하여 지역 구조를 발견한다. 둘째, 텍스트 마이닝 기법을 이용하여, 후보자 관련 데이터를 가공한다. 셋째, 텍스트 감정 분석을 통해 후보자의 정보를 수치화 한다. 본 논문의 성능과 효율성을 평가하기 위해, 제 20 대 국회의원 선거에 사례연구를 진행하였다. 제안한 방법이 정확도와 수학적 통계 검증을 통해 가치 있는 효율성을 보였다. 선거방송을 위한 후보자 예측 도구의 도입으로 향후 선거(방송)에서의 큰 비용과 노력을 줄이는데 도움을 줄 것이라 기대한다.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze broadcasting station's image expressed in wearing dress color of male and female news anchors. The data were collected from replay video news(n=180) provided in each station's website during 2005-2010 year. The results were as follows. First, in the case of the male anchor, KBS was focused on the quiet and classic image and the gentle image. MBC was focused on the vital and urban image. SBS was focused on the dynamic and young image. Second, in the case of the female anchor, KBS was focused on the neat, soft, and feminine in S/S season, on the other hand the loud and flamboyant image in F/W season. MBC was focused on the vital and urban image like image of a male anchor. SBS was focused on the private image of a female anchor than broadcasting station's image. Through the results of this study, the image of the individual and companies can be symbolized by the color of dress.
